Publisher's summary

Sir Kieran Hage had a mission to fulfill. As the head of a peace delegation intending to end the Siege of Acre in 1192 A.D., he carries the crown of thorns said to be worn by Jesus Christ as an offering of truce from the Muslim warlords. It is a holy relic of the most important magnitude. Unwilling to accept peace, however, Kieran's men turn against him and make an attempt on his life. Wounded, Kieran seeks out a man who he believes is a physic. He is greatly mistaken. Not a physic but an alchemist, the mysterious man does the only thing he knows to do for the dying knight - he puts him in to an eternal sleep so he will not bleed to death, suspending his bodily functions, only to be awakened by the power of truly deep emotion. Eight hundred years later, Dr. Rory Osgrove excavates the English knight from his dusty tomb and an accidental kiss brings him back to life. Together, they shared an adventure in Modern Times before a twist of fate sends them back to his time.

Back in his element, Kieran is determined to finish his mission of peace. He must return the crown of thorns to England. But the same assassins who tried to kill him the first time are after him again, patterns of life repeating themselves, and Kieran, now with Rory, finds himself back on the run. Over dry land and heavy seas, he and Rory flee the assassins, struggling to make their way back to England. But as they travel, the real Medieval world opens up. To Kieran, it is the world he knows but to Rory, it is much different. The modern girl finds herself in a land of no cell phones, bathrooms, antibiotics, or airplanes. She must learn to live in this strange, new world, a place she thought she knew a great deal about until she actually found herself in the midst of it. Dangers lurk everywhere as she struggles to adjust, but even as she tries to acclimate to an environment that is much more different than she ever imagined, bigger fears come to light.

Sleeping Beauty Arises

This is a wonderful conclusion of the Crusader Series. We met all the interesting characters in the first book The Crusader such as King Richard, A medieval knight from the crusades Kieran Hage, Rory & Bud the archeologists, Simon, the incredible Alchemist, although I liked it a lot Kingdom Come was better it was a great romance with all of those characters plus Kieran's brothers, wives, prince John, Uself the Moslem, etc. It had romance, chilling suspense, murder and a love that defies time. I will definitely listen to and read again. The Narrator Brian Gill was excellent, he had Kieran's voice spot on. Wow. A pleasure to listen to. Buy it, you will not be sorry but get the Crusader first.

kingdom come

One of the most beautiful love stories I have ever read. I could not put it down. The narrator was so expressive that I could really feel the characters speaking.

Wow!

Well worth a listen! I loved their story. Fantastical for sure, but that's why it's called "Escape"! It kept you guessing and interested although the ending you could sort of figure it out, it made absolutely no difference in the enjoyment of the story. Favorite line..."Nay, Lady"! They were hilarious, sweet, passionate, and fearless. GREAT narrator only enhanced the story more. Sigh!

New Favorite

Would you listen to Kingdom Come again? Why?

Absolutely. I'm in love with Brian J. Gill's voice for Kieran!

Who was your favorite character and why?

It has to be Kieran. Honorable, masculine, and my new fantasy! LOL

What does Brian J. Gill bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

His voice brought Kieran to life for me!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Rory was talking to Sir Kieran in the morgue. Oh, wait that is part one! So it would be when Rory hears about the life of her son, Tevin and what a great knight he had become.

Any additional comments?

My new favorite but it has to be combined with "The Crusader". You can't have one without the other.

Most beautiful medieval-time travel lovestory ever

After listening to Book 1 with Audible upgrade, I patiently waited for this book to become available with an Audible upgrade as well. It was the best way to go through this book again.

Just like the first book, I initially read it from a boxed set 'Timeless Romance' if I'm not mistaken. But when Audible upgrades started appearing in KLV's individual books, I needed to hear how the narrator would shift from modern time and back to medieval.

And Brian J. Gill did a brilliant job with his flawless ability to alternate accents from British, American, and even Middle Eastern accents for Yousef and Kaleef. I loved the deep, rich voice he gave for Keiran and how he would boom loud and commanding orders versus the educated, American bossy voice for Bud. I giggled, swooned, and cried as I listened to this medieval-time travel tale; and laughed when Brian came upon musical lyrics. Again.

Audible upgrade made this romance story so vibrant and alive, I would go back to Book 1 all over again and enjoy this brilliant duology, which criss-crossed across time.

Good book. Edited poorly.

It was a good story. A scene was interrupted by the narrator complaining about songs.
