Publisher's summary

The king of wall street is brought to his knees by an ambitious bombshell.

At work, I’m King of Wall Street. The heaviest hitters in Manhattan come to me to make money. They do whatever I say because I’m always right. I’m shrewd. Exacting. Some say ruthless.

At home, I’m a single dad trying to keep his fourteen-year-old daughter a kid for as long as possible. If my daughter does what I say, somewhere there’s a snowball surviving in hell. And nothing I say is ever right.

When Harper Jayne starts as a junior researcher at my firm, the barriers between my worlds begin to dissolve. She’s the most infuriating woman I’ve ever worked with.

I don’t like the way she bends over the photocopier—it makes my mouth water.

I hate the way she’s so eager to do a good job—it makes my body twitch.

And I can’t stand the way she wears her hair up exposing her long neck. It makes me want to strip her naked, bend her over my desk and trail my tongue all over her body.

If my two worlds are going to collide, Harper Jayne will have to learn that I don't just rule the boardroom. I’m in charge of the bedroom, too.

The King of Wall Street is a standalone contemporary romance.

More interested in the side story than the main!

"The King of New York" takes a cab...hmmm! No! "The King of New York" lives in a building; penthouse or not, that has studio apartments...that's another, NO! Custom Italian handmade suits that only cost $3k. Another NO! "The King of New York's" daughter is in the basement of said building doing laundry. No! WTF. And is living in the same building as one of his entry level employee's. hahahaha NOT!

If you are in the mood for INSTA love. This is the book for you! If you don't care about the character fitting the mold the author sets up for you; then again this is for you. This just was a no go for me. I listen to most of my book at 1.5. To get this over with I listened at 2.5 while doing a million other things.

Harper's relationship with her father and the fact she had a best friend that actually gave great advice was the most interesting part of the story to me.

Narrator's were great! 4 STARS!

I really tried to like this book

I really tried to like this book but the heroine was such a B---ch and had more daddy issues than anyone should have! The author would had been well served to tone it down a lot on the daddy issues. Books should come with a warning that the characters have mental issues that ruin the book. Probably will not purchase this author's books again.
The narrator was great as always - love York's voice. He was the only thing that saved this book!

Checkmate! A Win-Win Story and Narration!

This is the first story I've listened to by Louise Bay and it ticked off everything I love in a steamy romance. A captivating plot, well developed characters, realistic dialogue, chemistry and some very steamy sex scenes. King of Wall Street was a heart warming plot who's H/h had a funny and rocky start, but things quickly heat up as the sexual tension between them ignite. Bay did an outstanding job developing the chemistry and romance between these characters.

Some spoilers;
Harper has inspired to work for Max King. She's followed his career and while going to college she has groomed herself to be a perfect fit for his firm. When she lands her dream job at this firm as a junior assistant, her "new career bliss" is shattered. She quickly learns King is infuriating, demanding, and critical of her work, even if he gets her heart racing.

Max King knows he's hard on Harper. He doesn't intentionally try to be harder, but he's been attracted to her from the beginning and is trying to keep their working relation professional and distance between them. Up till now, he's done a good job keeping his personal life separate from his business life. When he learns she lives in the same apartment as him, he disregards all his rules when she some comes knocking on his door to confront him about the loud noise he is making in nothing but a silk robe. Their heated kisses turn into amazing sex. They find themselves trying to balance work and their "extracurricular" activates, but things get a little complicated when his daughter starts looking towards Harper for assistance with her upcoming prom and King lands an opportunity with a client who happens to also be Harper's father.

I'll be honest, Sebastian York and Andi Arndt are one of the main reason's I took a chance on this story. These veteran narrators know how to deliver an awesome performance.

Fans of Lauren Blackely, Winter Renshaw and Meghan March would enjoy this story. It was steamy, sweet, heart-warming, and well worth a credit. I enjoyed it from start to finish and will definitely be looking for more audios by Bay.

I LOVED EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS LISTEN

Are you ready for Max King? because Harper certainly wasn't.. oh she'd researched and followed his Company with the sole purpose of landing her dream job. But the reality was that he was a jerk.. a charismatic, handsome and drool-worthy jerk who deliberately ignored her and frustratingly went out of his way to avoid her - which was infuriating because she was meant to be working for him. However, it was Max that was secretly getting hot under his collar every time he saw his new and beautiful employee because she was a distraction and constantly on his mind.. and it wasn't at all work related!

Harper was independent but had some serious Daddy issues.. in that he was a rich business tycoon who'd got her Mother pregnant, threw money at the situation rather than any of his time.. and then went on to rinse and repeat. Harper had a Trust Fund he'd set up but she never touched it - deciding that she was going to cut him from her life. But when Max King appointed her to work on a presentation to win her Father's account Harper decided to show her Father what he'd tossed away. But getting closer to Max King was going to be the best and worst thing she'd ever done because Harper learnt that he was nothing like the villain she'd pictured him to be... and everything she didn't know she wanted.

I consumed this story like a tub of Ben & Jerry's... and then savoured in the afterglow. The characters were great - especially Max who was devoted to his 14 yr old daughter, then his Sisters, the Company and nothing much else.. until Harper. Once Max and Harper had 'broken the ice' between them (in a most fevered way) - there was no stopping the sexcapades.. but underneath the sex were two lovers who didn't know what they'd found. Because rather than move forward Harper was still that wounded little girl looking to impress her long absent Father and yet deep down she felt resentment and anger - and Max was a Business Mogul who'd never stopped long enough to let love in.

Worth a credit? The dual POV storyline had heat, heart, angst, drama and heartbreak - the main and secondary characters were loveable and nice - the Hero was everything you'd want from one and the expert narration by Sebastian York and Andi Arndt hit it out of the park. So creditworthy... oh YEAH - even if this 'sex to angst to love' listen was totally implausible in the real world - I didn't care as I love to get lost in romantic fiction.

Great Narration. Story not so much.

Well, I am in the minority here with my review. This story is sooo typical and written too many times. Sorry people but really?

Its insta lust of two people that know nothing about each other and are in love from just having sex. Yep that is the story line. No mystery, no getting to know each other. Just plain ole attraction. Over these types of books. I really struggled getting through this one. It was so boring.

As for the narration, well that was the only thing that kept me listening. Sebastian York and Andi Arndt are great. But really, I wish they would move into some different genre's of narrations. And not these typical sex books with very little ultra boring story lines. They deserve better stories to narrate. Just sayin..

Harper is a loser

How does max fall in love with this annoying woman? Her whole life is ruled by insecurity and daddy issues. She puts her terrible feelings about her own father onto Max’s relationship with his daughter. She has sex with her dream boss and then gets upset that he views it as inappropriate wth? Did she get her degree at dumbell university? Max is a dedicated father and brilliant businessman. I have noooooo idea what he sees in this irrational temperamental irrational woman. Her best friend has more common sense in her pinky than Harper has in her whole body. Max you deserve better

Narration was great. This book stinks look elsewhere for your credits

He is the king!

Max King is a hot, single dad. Harper Jayne is an independent woman determined to make it without daddy's money. In college, she had her sight on working for Max King, and succeeded. They have a hate-hate relationship until there was a "Vegas" moment. There wasn't too much drama more like Harper felt like a victim due to family background. I did enjoy the humor and relationship with Max, his daughter (Amanda), and his sisters Scarlet and Violet. The sex scenes were hot especially with S York narrating. Both, SY and AA are great narrators. This is a standalone. Yes, worth the credit.

Narrators were the BEST PART OF THE BOOK!

I want to scream how much I love listening to these 2 narrators, Sebastian York and Andi Arndt!!! They are the best!!!!!
I love these kind of powerful relationships that leave your stomach in knots. However much I loved max and the women in his life giving him grief, I don't how Harper has any friends and why her best friend would even be friends with her or help her work out all her emotional problems. I loved Harper when she is with amanda and with max but I just can't understand whyyyyy she's so horrible to her bestie! I was frustrated with Harper and her daddy issues so much so I just can't give it a higher rating than 3.5. I know people have to grow and have issues to provide an internal battle that makes you want to delve deeper into their life, but she's just so mean to her best friend it's hard to support her growth. She seemed like a 14 year old herself!

LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF THIS BOOK!

This book was the perfect mix of off the charts sexiness, humor, and romance that makes you literally say 'awwwww'. Max was my favorite hands down; his relationship with his sisters and daughter was hilarious and heart melting all at once. The dynamic between him and Harper was not your typical one, and it was a joy to see how things unfolded for them. Well written, strong characters---bravo Louise Bay!---i will be a repeat offender with any book by Louise Bay from here on out. Highly recommended!
