Publisher's summary

He won’t hesitate to put his life on the line...but will he ever risk his heart?

Falling for Justice Garrett was a high point in Patience McGraw’s otherwise awkward adolescence. Even after he disappeared, Patience never forgot the boy who captured her heart. Now, he’s back in Fool’s Gold, California, and her passion for him is as strong as ever. But how can she trust that he won’t abandon her again - and her daughter, too? When bodyguard Justice Garrett was a young man, witness protection brought him to this idyllic town and he never forgot its warmth, or the sweet beauty of his childhood friend. He’s returned to open a defense academy, and the Patience he once knew is all grown up. He can’t resist her smile, or her curves. But Justice’s past doesn’t make him husband, or father, material.

Patience and Justice think they’ll succumb to just one kiss.... Then one more.... Okay, just one night together. But they might learn that falling in love is beyond anyone’s control.

Light fluffy read

Would you listen to Just One Kiss again? Why?

No, I think I may have out grown my Susan Mallery days.

If you’ve listened to books by Susan Mallery before, how does this one compare?

Just as good as any. Its what one would call a fluffy feel good read, or maybe a beach read.

Have you listened to any of Tanya Eby’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes and she did fine as always. Perfect for this kind of book.

Any additional comments?

This is one of those light easy reads, one that doesn't take that much brain power. I had a few issues which some has more to do with me then the book but at the beginning I was like GET ON WITH IT!....and I swear I know we have to do the doubt thing (what if) but seriously it started to get on my nerves. And if the repeated one more time what they were doing or were they came from I would of screamed. I think I may just out grown this type of book and was not in the right mood for it.
If you looking for an almost sickly sweet book then this is for you. If you don't mind a few too many repeats in statements then I say grab this book. I will get the next book just because I have to know what happens since I have read everyone in the series but I do believe I will wait until I can borrow it from the library since I don't believe I will be listening/ reading them more then once ever again.

Good story but ruined by the trashy novel moments

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

The storyline is good though a little bit cheesy and predictable but the trashy novel sex descriptions ruin it. I'm not into books like that anyway but listening to someone else read those descriptions out loud was just too creepy for me so I couldn't even finish the book.

Extremely boring!

Would you try another book from Susan Mallery and/or Tanya Eby?

Yes. Susan Mallery's books are rather good, however this one wasn't. The characters where not strong enough for their own story.

What could Susan Mallery have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

This would have been a better sub-plot rather than the main tale. The story wasn't interesting. The characters lack depth.

What three words best describe Tanya Eby’s voice?

A great job.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment.

Any additional comments?

The author needs to stop dragging out Ford's return (which I'm expecting to be a disappointment with all the build-up) and just write it already.

Always Enjoyable: Susan Mallery and Fool's Gold

Just One Kiss: Fool's Gold, Book 11 by Susan Mallery and narrated by Tanya Eby is a hit! As always, SM tells the heartwarming tales of Fool's Gold, and the women who live there. The characters are charming, and her readers love to revisit the town where everyone cares about everyone. Tanya Eby delivers another fun performance.
This is a nice break; a totally enjoyable experience; and definitely credit-worthy!

Good Lighthearted Fun!!!

Love this series, love these books. I could listen to them all again and probably would. Yes, they are predictable but who doesn't love a good love story! For me books that continue with a town or character just keep readers interested. New characters but old favorites. I love Tanya Eby as a narrator as well so this is a perfect match! Can't wait for the next one!

Not my favorite in the series but still good.

I love the Fools Gold series and look forward to each release. However, this one just wasn't my favorite. It was still very good and Tanya Eby did a fine job narrating.

Worth a credit: totally, I'm sure I'll listen to it again on long road trips.

I love Fool's Gold... But....

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Yes until the last couple of chapters... then we run into something a lot of series run into... the same old same old.

Repeat Actions of the hero. If all the male leads are going to have the same problem, its going to get old. Formula writing has both good parts and bad. I don't want to say what because its at the end of the story. Only if you read this series, you won't be surprised by it. In fact, you will see it coming and groan out loud.

What did you like best about this story?

I like the heroine and her relationship with her mother. Its nice to see a positive mother daughter rather than a broken one which is sometimes a repeat theme in Mallery's books

Have you listened to any of Tanya Eby’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes. I like this narrator a lot

What would have made this romance irresistible?

If the end had not been so 1. Something happens we all knew would happen 2. The result was what we all knew would happen and 3. Really? Does everyone have to leave for a few weeks to realize what was there all along?

Any additional comments?

For the most part, its a good book. I just can't stand when it becomes too formulaic.
