Publisher's Summary

Determined to reevaluate her life, Jude Murray flees America to take refuge in Faerie Hill Cottage, where she immerses herself in the study of Irish Folklore and discovers hope for the future in the magic of the past.

Finally back home in Ireland after years of traveling, Aidan Gallagher possesses an uncommon understanding of his country's haunting myths. Although he's devoted to managing the family pub, a hint of wildness still glints in his stormy eyes. In Jude, he sees a woman who can both soothe his heart and stir his blood. And he begins to share the legends of the land with her, while they create a passionate history of their own.

Emerald Isle: listen to the rest of the Irish Jewels trilogy.

I’m not against a little romance, but this is written for people who mostly want the sexy romance with a healthy dose of magic and a little plot. Childish.

    "Great story, stiff reading!"

I love Nora Roberts books and this is as beautiful and moving as all the others I've read or listened to, however, while Patricia Daniels has a very nice and clear voice and I loved the Irish accents, when reading in her own voice the reading seemed stilted and stiff. It's not so bad as to ruin the story however.

    "Story okay"

Story is okay a little formulaic, but easy enjoyable read. A touch of Ireland and a touch of fantasy keep the story from being completely mundane

"Sorry but the narrator ruined it."

The accent was better than the English. It was too stiff as if she was reading for the first time. No flow or smooth transitions.

The story is good, but the narrator is awful. She does a really ridiculous Irish accent for the characters.

    "One of Nora's Best"

One of my fave books in one of my fave trilogies by Nora. You can tell it's pre-big brother 9-11, but the characters and story are true and lovely. It's a joy to read, but not sappy; and you feel good for all the right reasons when it's over. Daniels does a decent job with the audio narration, but is a little weak on adult male speaking English with an Irish accent. Worth a credit; don't debate, just grab it if on sale!

Nora Roberts has done it again. She brings Ireland alive and the characters real.
Patricia Daniels narrates with such passion and feeling. She is truly awesome.

    "This narrator is awful"

This is a typical Nora Roberts novel. Exactly what you'd expect. Only one irritating thing; Irish people don't speak Gaelic, we speak Irish.
The really annoying bit was the narration. The "Irish" accents were horrendous. I have never heard an Irish person that sounded anything like this. It was actually painful.
Also, she manages to mispronounce every single Irish word.
I won't be getting the next two instalments because I can't stand this woman's narration.

"Lovers of magical romance please don't miss this"

A lovely, light book about romance entwined with Irish myths and legends setting the scene for a magical story. Whilst the end is probably predictable from the very beginning, it is one of those lovely books that make the reader, or listener, comfortable, warm and safe.

I mostly enjoyed Patricia Daniels' storytelling but her portrayal of Irish male voices, difficult for any female voice, was a little too forced and unnatural. However, there were enough twists and turns in the story to engross me without dwelling on a few minor points like this.

This sets the scene wonderfully for the next two books in the trilogy, with a legend to be finalised and true love for a fair maiden to be won. Please don't miss this.
