Publisher's summary

Evie doesn't open her eyes so she can't see him, but she can smell him. He thickens the air she breathes, choking her with his scent... his aroma. She shivers. She has to resist. If she's not strong, then she will be relegated to the same fate as this predator whose sickness infects her even now. But now, she craves him and he knows that; he has been counting on her need to end the gnawing pain. How he would savor her surrender. She's alive, but how much longer will it take until she begs him not to be?

Why is the man character so whiny?!

I really like the story and enjoyed the first book as well, but I thought the main character, Evie, would have become stronger and more confident as the story progressed. I found myself rolling my eyes and saying "pull it together" too many times. Her constant apologizing, crying, and lack of esteem is a complete downer and makes it hard to get through (i'm only about 8 chapters into this book as I write this review).

BTW, Amazing performance from Emily Woo Zeller.

Overall, I will finish it and hope she surprises me.

Great Addition to the Series

If you liked the first book, grab this one. If angels with angst aren't your gig, then this won't be the book for you. Since the first book grabbed my attention like a preschooler with a baseball bat, I was all in for this one. The tension between Reed and Evie is divine (sorry, not sorry), and the new characters in this story are mind blowing.

There's so much duality going on in this series where everything should be completely black and white: it should be so easy to draw the line between good and bad and make a stand. Yet some how things just seem to blur the lines sometimes. That shouldn't be, your brain wants to tell you...then your heart speaks up. I'm loving all this deep thought in a seemingly random paranormal romantic thriller. Awesome.

great

it's great! I just wish main character would actually fight and listen, it's a bit annoying.

Great story! Horrible narration!

I have literally listened to this book series with every free minute I had. I couldn't stop. I needed badly to find out what happened next! But the mouth sounds between each sentence nearly drove me crazy. My kids would watch me flinch and cringe every time she finished a sentence and there was the noise. I couldn't figure out if she was swallowing or had an extremely dry mouth. It was extremely distracting and something I've never experienced in any other audiobook I've purchased. It made me want to delete the audiobooks and buy the e-books to read so I'd never have to hear it again. Other than that, I am now a true fan of this author.

Liked More Than The First! Team Russell

I was kind of bummed in the first book because of the sickeningly-sweet romance with Reed and Evie, when I enjoyed the more natural and genuine feeling of Russel and Evie...but this book had more plot and a little more Russel evolving. I liked Brannis being thrown in there for some variety too. It is the spice of life after all. Interested to see where this goes. I honestly like Brannis better than Reed.

PS Buns kind of annoys me. Maybe it’s the weird nickname? Am I the only one thinking this whenever they say Buns and Brownie? I feel like they’re part of the Power Puff girls instead of serious angels.
