Publisher's summary

Mike Cavanaugh was a firefighter; it was his job to rescue people. Though inviting them home wasn't usually part of the job description. But when he pulled Christine Palmer out of her burning house, something about the gutsy single mom made him want to protect her, to make her life a little better.

I was expecting not so good.

Would you listen to Informed Risk again? Why?

Probably in the future.

Which character – as performed by Therese Plummer – was your favorite?

Therese Plummer is awesome. She has the power to take a 3 star story to a 5 star Novel.

Any additional comments?

I purchase this book with some apprehension after reading the reviews. I'm glad I did, good story.

Of Course It Was Good.

Having read most of Robyn Carrs books, I find that I fit them in after reading 5 or 6 books written by other authors. It’s like coming home every time. This book does not disappoint in that way. 2 needy people find love. It’s an old romance story but I enjoyed every minute of it. Therese Plummer’s narration is, as usual, spot on. If you like RC books, add this one to your collection.

Unbelievable and predictable at the same time.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I was excited to see another Robyn Carr story but this was too unbelievable to even fantasize that it could be real. On top of that it was actually predictable. Very disappointing.

Have you listened to any of Therese Plummer’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Therese Plummer is an excellent narrator. Her narrating is the best part of the book.

SO VERY, VERY DISAPPOINTED !!

This was very much a disappointment for me. I have always really enjoyed RC's books, have read and listened to all that Audible offers and this is the first that, in my opinion, had virtually no substance. The character development was weak, with the exception of Aunt Flo who wasn't even the star of the show, oh yeah and Cheeks (the dog) and Kary (Chris' daughter). I thought their meager parts and descriptions were much more entertaining and grabbed my attention and heart more so than the two main characters.

As always Therese Plummer did a wonderful job and am happy to hear that she is still narrating Robyn Carr's audiobooks; she was the only saving grace in this otherwise drab story.

Informed Risk

I love Robyn Carr and her audiobooks because she always has great narrators.
This book was just good for me. I love second chance romances and both the main characters get theirs.
I don’t know if maybe because it seemed like there was a bit of a disconnect of emotions when talking about their pasts or what. But for me, it just didn’t feel like they were that heartbroken. I mean Mike’s past would have normally had this big softy have a tear but nothing notta. I felt bad but I didn’t feel the genuine emotions from him.
And with Christine well, I felt like she kept passing the buck. It wasn’t until the end where she took any kind of ownership of what happened to her. Also, the way she lets her aunt run all over her. I don’t know it was just good. Still glad I listened.

Another Robin Carr excellent read/listen

Therese Plummer has teamed with Ms. Carr to present several books in several series -- all uniformly excellent books to read and to listen to.

I always regret when I've finished the last book in an intriguing series, and listen to each on (out of order) many more times. Knowing the story's end doesn't reduce the pleasure of repeating the experience. Plus, I seem to discover nuances and find tidbits that point the way to further understanding of what is to come. In a way, this makes me a more literate, competent reader/listener as I ask myself, "Why does the writer put in this sequence of events, or add details to a descriptions?"

Highly recommended!

Lacks the real life feel of virgin river series

Terrible. I’m so sorry to say.
He forced her to say I love you after 2 weeks of knowing her one night after a quick sex. She wasn’t feeling it yet so he got all butt hurt. So she felt forced to say it to not feel bad. Like when an alcoholic is on a rage and the wife is walking on eggshells so he doesn’t get to upset. He doesn’t even say thank you for her gifts she gives him. He too controlling. Didn’t like at all
