Former Marine, Trent Reed, is in desperate need of a Hail Mary.
With each failed attempt to convince his woman to pack up and move to Kentucky, his past finds some new way to rear its ugly head. But when his pregnant ex plows into his life, all hell breaks loose - unearthing parts of his past he wished would stay buried.
Two weeks of vacation with her man? Hell yeah, that is exactly what Teal Lofton's libido needs. And after surviving seven months apart, their reunion doesn't disappoint. What she didn't account for was an unfortunate encounter with people from Trent's past. A racist, a druggie, and a double-barreled shotgun, culminate into a vacation that will alter the course of her life forever.

Michael Pauley did a very good job. I was impressed with his offereing and the way he reeled me in. I was held captive. I was in not rush to finish.
So close to that five stars...

This book deals with everything real. It's difficult and sometimes uncomfortable but the entire book I kept thinking that Inger Iversen did such a brilliant job at portraying the most real and intense relationship. Trent and Teal were such a unique couple and their chemistry was off the charts. Unfortunately love doesn't ensure an easy path and Trent and Teal had quite a few speed bumps along the way.
I loved the romance and hot, hot love between T and T. Inger can definitely write her some steamy scenes!
Michael Pauley was such a great choice for this book. I admit it took me about 5 minutes to adjust to his narration but after that, it was smooth sailing and he locked me in for the entire book. I loved it.
Worth a credit? Most definitely. If I could do it again, I would listen to book 1 first even though this stands alone, I just want more of Trent and Teal and listening to book 1 first would have given me more time to obsess over them.
Excellent

Trent is a hard working man who is trying to make up from his past. He is a man from the south and has been immersed in that culture
his entire life. Though he doesn’t believe the ways many around him do, he had to walk a fine line at times to fit in.
Teal is a strong woman of color. She is from Vermont and is trying to decide if she should move to the south to be with the man she loves. The culture is vastly different from what she is used to, but he makes up for the differences. What she doesn't expect is for his past to haunt him when she arrives.
PS - The audio version of this book only enhanced Inger Iverson's work. I am new to Michael Pauley as a narrator, but it will not be my last from him. His performance kept my interest as well.
Trent and Teal are unforgettable!
