Publisher's Summary

William took my other hand in his and pulled me closer to him. I looked up at him, wondering what it would be like to kiss him. It was very quiet in the room, the only sound being our own breathing and the occasional shout from someone in the hangars down the hall. The fabric of our green jump suits rustled as he slid his hands down my waist and pulled me against his body. I rested my hands against his shoulders.

WHO TALKS LIKE THAT? CONVERSATIONS WERE JUST DUMB.

Any additional comments?

I was provided this audiobook through Audiobook Boom at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review.

The story was pretty good but every conversation exchange was like, so NOT real. No way do people talk the way this was written. Almost Dick and Jane. But if you can rewrite the dialogs in your mind to how normal people exchange, the anguish in the love story pulls you in. I have to admit, I probably wouldn't have had the patience to hold on as long as Serena to get my man. There weren't a lot of physical descriptions of William woven in and out to remind me, "Oh right! He's too Hot to drop!" Not a lot of descriptive text at all, really. But I was compelled to listen through to the end, and in my world, that's a good story.

Wow, did they have a rough time being together. There were a lot of obstacles, a couple of which seemed a bit exaggerated, but I guess there are looney people out there. And William! Jeez Louise! Get a grip, man! At least he was smokin' in bed!

(small spoilers) I still don't know what happened to those who beat up Serena or why his ex decided to stop bugging him (from afar) or why Serena didn't have any friends... among other stuff. The story just had a lot of frayed ends, I guess.

The narrator was pretty good. Not all the inflections were sound but overall, the male/female parts were distinguishable without sounding pitchy or too fake.

I'll put a thumb up for this, but I hope later works are more manicured.

Could Be Better

Serena and William share a love story that has so many twists and turns that you wonder what is really going on. The dialogue was very unrealistic. When I listen to a book I expect to hear dialogue that resembles normal human speech. This was so far removed that it did not even hit in the ballpark. the narrator's voice was also not strong enough on the William parts. Her narration did help make the story but it could have been better. Perhaps the author should sit in the park one day and just listen to how people talk. Take notes on what is heard then rewrite this story like that. Just a suggestion. I got this book via audiobook boom.

Military romance

The story is ok. I thought the relationship started awfully fast hell they just meet and get started hot and heavy.
The angst in this was out there too. William is the Bella of this. Yes I kept thinking of twilight. Enough of that (shuttering).
It could have used more character development. It took me awhile to get through this about 5 days. Normally I go through a audio of this length in about 2 days.
The narration was pretty good. Her portrayal o William seemed forced, but otherwise it kept me listening.

Military Romance

Any additional comments?

Overall, I enjoyed In The Place We Both Love. The story would have been more complete if Serena's attackers had been brought to justice and I didn't understand how military women could have acted like high school "mean girls". Serena and William had a rough time of things, largely due to William's trust issues and probably PTSD. I was glad they got their happy ending. I would recommend this audiobook.

I was voluntarily provided this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator. This review is my honest opinion.

Not for me

For me, it took multiple attempts to get through this one. The narration was monotone and did not keep me engaged at all. The characters were unbelievable and immature. The conversations did not flow naturally and I couldn't buy into the story or the characters. I tried, but it just wasn't for me.

Blah

The female characters seemed so very immature. I am not much into fighting and name calling in a bunch of adult women. I liked the narrator but maybe not for this story, her male voice seemed monotone and did not fit the character well.

Not your typical Military Romance

Kathleen Hope always brings great books. This story does not disappoint. With the perfect mix of romance, angst, suspense and hot sex, William and Serena have your not so typical military romance.William and Serena meet when Serena has entered the NASA program to become an astronaut. William is one of her instructors. Their romance, though a little rushed was full of turmoil and hot sex! There are many things in William's past that haunt him everyday and prevent him from giving his all to their relationship. And there are many obstacles that Serena has to overcome, including a jealous colleague to find her happily ever after. Twists and turns, and this book definitely has a lot of them, finds you wanting to this couple to workout.

Theresa Stephens, though a good narrator just did not hit the mark on this book for me. Her voice was not strong enough to carry the military alpha male type and it was extremely distracting. If it was not for the content of the book, I may not have completed the listen because of this.

Sweet, sexy, volatile and breath-taking

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely, I loved this book! It's beautifully written and so compelling.

The development of the relationship between Serena and William is so volatile and yet sweet and beautiful at the same time. I wondered at times if they would make it, if they should make it. Somehow Kathleen managed to bring them back together and keep the relationship growing, it was really beautiful.

What about Theresa Stephens’s performance did you like?

The narration was great, the only reason it didn't get 5 starts was the male voices, some of the were hard to tell apart and they weren't always very masculine sounding.

The rest of the narration was beautifully done.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I cried several times, when things between William and Serena were rocky and right at the end. I also laughed out loud once while walking down the street, thank goodness these days everyone assumes your on the phone or something.

Any additional comments?

This is my second Kathleen Hope book, the first was just as good, if you like military based romances then I think you'll like her books.

Note: This book was provided free by the author/narrator/publisher in exchange for an unbiased review.
