Two years ago, Jake and Amanda were going hot and heavy. But when Jake wanted more, Amanda walked away. Jake immersed himself in mixed martial arts, living life on the edge. But that didn't dull the pain of Amanda's rejection - until a chance encounter throws them together. A high-powered lawyer, Amanda was a no-strings-attached kind of girl. But two years after her breakup with Jake, she still hasn't found anyone who gets her heart pumping the way he did. And then he shows up in her boardroom, hot as sin and needing help. Jake is dark, sexy, and impossible to resist. As their chemistry builds, Amanda's not sure if she can stay in control - or if she's finally willing to let him claim her, body and soul.
As much as I enjoyed the 1st book in the Redemption series I loved this book. I laughed so often and Lucy Rivers brought this story to life just as she did in the 1st book. This was worth the wait and purchase.

I wanted to like this since reading the blurb but unfortunately, it lacks depth. The heroine never clicked for me. Then we get to this abrupt ending. Everything that seemed so difficult was suddenly fixed within just a few lines. There was potential but sadly, it was never reached.

The story was very shallow. Characters lacked depth and the heroine was childish in the manner she kept pushing the hero away and then pulling him back in. Bipolar acting in almost every scene in response to him. And then Sarah Castille decides to end the story and all of a sudden the mystery as to how to beat this huge and powerful law firm becomes child's play. It is all fixed within just a few lines in the book and the world is put to rights again while the heroine is almost over night able to accept love in her life. Ugh. I am glad this book is over but I am disappointed that so much potential for this book went down the tube so fast. I was really looking forward to reading this book.

With the market currently flooded with MMA fighter novels and me being a relatively picky rlistener, it takes something above and beyond to keep me reading this type of novel these days. Oh, and I am a big fan of MMA so I get kind of twitchy when it’s not done right. Sarah Castille has done it right and then some
Amanda is a junior associate in a high-powered and powerful law firm and she is absolutely on track to become partner and finally earn her parents’ approval. She has gone above and beyond what is expected of her, sacrificed every free moment of her life and, made sure her behavior and demeanor are above reproach. Outside of the office, Amanda has a delightful friend with benefits and a box full of pro bono cases that she actually does cherish. In all, Amanda’s life is going exactly the way she planned it and then in the blink of an eye it is all taken from her. In a fit of anger and absolute betrayal, one of the senior partners at her law firm and, coincidentally her father’s best friend threatens to expose Amanda’s relatively naughty private life is she doesn’t sleep with him. Not one to be blackmailed and certainly not one to whore herself out, Amanda refuses to bow to her boss’s wishes and is summarily relieved of all her duties and responsibilities with the firm. With no job and the threat of total personal and professional humiliation hanging over her, Amanda retreats completely from the world.
Jake Donovan is the most beautiful man Amanda has ever seen and for two short months he was hers. Thanks to her games and total inability to commit, Amanda lost Jake and for two years has regretted the loss immensely. Imagine her surprise when it is Jake (thanks to her best friend and book one heroine, Makayla) who knocks on her door and forces her back into the world of the living. Completely confused by Jake’s presence in her life, Amanda tries to keep herself from hoping for the impossible, reconciliation and a return to a life she once loved. For Jake, his presence in Amanda’s life is completely clear and this time he doesn’t intend to lose her. From the beginning, Jake knows his road to a HEA with Amanda is going to be hard but he has no idea how hard until he is all up in the middle of her crazy.
The sexual tension between Jake and Amanda is so high that both are constantly on edge. If they are going to make it, they have to be a part of each other’s lives and that means interacting and trying to control their sexual desire so they can work through their past issues. With Jake’s encouragement, Amanda opens her own law firm, files a hefty lawsuit against her former employer and, begins training at Redemption. Her future, both personally and professionally is completely uncertain and though she is glad to have Jake back in her life, Amanda isn’t sure she has the fight in her that she needs to get to a HEA. Jake for damn sure has the fight in him but Amanda is stubborn beyond reason and even the most patient man has his limits. Unbelievably, Amanda finds a way to yet again break both their hearts and threaten their future together.
The Bottom Line: Sarah Castille and her naughty Redemption series has just stolen my heart!! I am all kinds of on board this train and willing to ride no matter where the conductor wants to go In Your Corner isn’t just Amanda and Jake’s story but also an evolution of the series as a whole. We primarily get Jake and Amanda and their story is certainly interesting but we also get a glimpse into the lives of a whole host of other characters. There is Penny, Amanda’s feisty British assistant; Ray, the hardcore private investigator who just can’t seem to give up on Amanda; Rampage, the loveable and slightly slow Redemption fighter who just adores Amanda and, Fuzzy, the police officer and Redemption fighter who seems to always be in the middle of an Amanda-created mess. Like its predecessor, Against the Ropes, In Your Corner is a hot contemporary romance with a little bit of everything for a wide variety of listeners. For myself, the Redemption series is MMA fiction done right and though the books are a bit formulaic, I just simply don’t care.
Lucy Rivers as always was fantastic with the delivery of the story.

This sexy, action-filled, mixed martial arts thriller is packed full. My only issue is the "nicknames" or "fighting" names seem a bit immature, in that it sounds like a bunch of junior high kids in referring to one another. To me, it seems a bit silly. Other than that, if you are into sexy MMA style, romance – this one lives up to the hype.
I love this story couldn't stop listening to it manda and jake had a lot of trials and tribulations to go through but in the end it was amazing the ending. Lucy Rivers does an amazing job narrating this book.
I just loved it. The story sucked me in. Couldn't stop listening to the book.
Great book and great series... will read again! cannot wait to read the next 2 books.
I really enjoyed this book. It's full of humor, feistiness, steamy scenes, and much more. I couldn't put it down. Now, guess I should read the first book, oops! I would recommend this book to any one who enjoys this type of genre.
It's passionate and riveting already listened too it twice. Good read at the gym while I workout.
Everyone comes with baggage and damage, and Jake and Amanda are no different. Their to and fro relationship reflected their own insecurities and the ending was fitting.
The guys at Redemption made fabulous supporting characters and Ray and Penny, well I know what I wish...
Although this is a standalone, I wished I had gone back to Against the Ropes to remind myself of the beginning, but that's me. You really don't need to have read it to enjoy or fully comprehend the plot.
It was well narrated.
