Publisher's summary

The first book in a bold new fantasy romance series by New York Times best-selling author Kerrelyn Sparks.

Luciana grew up on the Isle of Moon, hidden away because of her magical powers. But when her father arrives, he offers her a choice: remain on the island or return with him and marry the Beast of Benwick in order to save their legacy - and her father's life.

Lord Leofric, the Beast of Benwick, has not been touched since he was a child. Born with the power to harness lightning, he is a danger to everyone he touches. When he meets his betrothed, he expects a loveless, lonely marriage...until he discovers she's vastly more powerful than he realized. But is she strong enough to withstand his touch?

If they can survive, their love will alter the future of the kingdom. But will their extraordinary powers cost them everything?

How to Tame a Beast in Seven Days

I purchased this book when it was on sale because I love Jill Tanner as a narrator she really is quite good, However I was immediately hooked and had to purchase the entire series after only listening to half this book. Kerrelyn Sparks is a new to me author so when I got started I didn't know what to expect, this series is so good though that I binged it in a week. Sparks did a wonderful job with the world building that I was never lost. Truly a wonderful book and a great series.

Wonderful tale, narrator did not do the story much justice.

This was such a wonderful book, great, great story. It really deserve five stars. I give it four because the narrator was so bland. Miss Tanner is a very unimaginative narrator. She certainly gets five stars for taking such a wonderful, beautiful book and making it sound as bland as boil potatoes. Since I am a fan of Ms. Kerrelyn Sparks, I decided to suffer my boiled potato and listened to the whole book. It would have been a very fun ride with another narrator, one who will make this book come alive. I sincerely hope that another narrator reads the other upcoming books in this wonderful series. Narrators like Heather Wilds, Hotler Graham and Robert Petkoff, just to mention a few.

I liked the build up of the characters and the dialog of the male lead was more than grunts and sex

Good story, some slow parts

This was a good story, but it was a little slow. It took forever for the two main characters to admit to their feelings. It just didn't seem realistic.
However, I found the book to be funny, entertaining. And although it has a HEA ending, it was still a cliffhanger.

Story good - narrator makes me crazy.

I'm not really certain that I've noticed an author using the word "grimaced" quite so often, but for some reason, Ms Sparks uses it at least once or twice in every chapter. And the narrator gave it the most twisted mispronunciation imaginable - gri-MASTE. I could understand if it was an unfamiliar word, but grimace if fairly common. "Tatiana's grin turned into a gri-MASE." He gri-MASTE." Annoying.
Story - not bad, interesting new world - I can see this being worth following, if someone finds a new narrator.

Great start to a new series

Loved the new characters, lots of danger and backstory to make the actions work. Can't wait for the next one.

Great romantic pair!!

Any additional comments?

I ordered this book on a whim and really enjoyed a non-whiny heroine and a hero who is not over the top alpha. Guess I'll be getting the other books in the series LOL.
