Publisher's summary

So what if he's a bit older and usually regards a human female as dinner, not a dinner date? Yes, Roman Draganesti is a vampire, but a vampire who lost one of his fangs sinking his teeth into something he shouldn't have. Now he has one night to find a dentist before his natural healing abilities close the wound, leaving him a lopsided eater for all eternity.

Things aren't going well for Shanna Whelan either... After witnessing a gruesome murder by the Russian mafia, she's next on their hit list. And her career as a dentist appears to be on a downward spiral because she's afraid of blood. When Roman rescues her from an assassination attempt, she wonders if she's found the one man who can keep her alive. Though the attraction between them is immediate and hot, can Shanna conquer her fear of blood to fix Roman's fang? And if she does, what will prevent Roman from using his fangs on her...

Love!

My favorite author of all time. I fell in love with this series years ago and have read it over and over for years. I finally decided to get it on audio so I could listen on the go... It's an excellent start to an exciting series that kept me going for years.

Thoroughly enjoyed it!

The only thing I'll say is that I got absolutely sick of hearing "gods blood" used as a curse. It got repeated ad nauseum. The author should have changed it up occasionally.
The reader was good 7/10.

...Leaves me wanting more

Really enjoyed the story and I am looking forward to the next. The narration, I feel, is on point for the story; she's able to keep up with the different dialects very well. It's quite entertaining.

Good!

Good story and characters and hilarious at times too! I enjoyed the vampires, even. It was a good escape from reality.

bought for the title, keeping for the story

Title sounded good, and the reviews too. Once I got into the story, it kept me going. Think I'll try book 2 of the series. Vampire owns a pharmacutical company that makes special flavored blood substitute products for vampires, and regular blood substitute products to save human lives. Intersting story.

LOVED LOVED LOVED this book

Would you consider the audio edition of How To Marry a Millionaire Vampire to be better than the print version?

I never read the print version so I can't compare

What did you like best about this story?

Had me laughing from the first chapter on---and the love scenes WOW just WOW

What does Suzanne Cypress bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I always think giving the characters a voice gives them more life. I didn't read the print version, but I think that in this case I will always chose the audio over print

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I found myself laughing on more than one occassion.

Any additional comments?

I really liked this book and have since put more titles from this author on my wish list.

Great lighthearted listen!

This is a delightful lighthearted listen. It is the first in the series and introduces Roman, the inventor of synthetic blood and leader of the good vamps. He is old, lonely and bored when he looses a fang to a recent invention. He has to use a mortal dentist--who just happens to be in the witness protection program. There are plenty of plot twist and turns to keep you listening and just enough humor to keep it very light.

The narrator did a wonderful job. It was very easy to loose myself in the story and not hear the narrator, just the story.

Great start to a fantastic series!

Any additional comments?

Okay, so we all know the lore, right? Vampires drink blood, can't go out into the sun or they'll burst into flames, do not have reflections in mirrors, and they sleep in coffins, etc... Well, in Kerrelyn Sparks' world of vampires, these are definitely the case, but there's so much more. Roman Dragonesti, a 500+ year old former monk turned vampire, is one of the most brilliant scientists in modern times. And, since inventing synthetic blood in the late 80's, he and his kind have sworn off biting humans. Well... Except for a small faction of malcontents who call themselves "The True Ones", but I digress...

Roman loses a tooth during a business meeting (you'd think he'd lose his head instead, right?), and has to race against time in order to have it replaced before the end of the night and his body permanently seals the hole. Queue Shanna Whelen, the night dentist at the SoHo So Brite Dental clinic. The problem is that Shanna is in the Witness Protection program after recently witnessing a mob hit in a restaurant she was dining at. And, the killers just tracked her down, minutes before Roman shows up at her office door. Oh! And, then there's the teeny tiny issue of Shanna being hemophobic; meaning she has a phobia about blood, as in she faints at the sight of it. Yet, she's a dentist.

So, Roman shows her the tooth he needs replaced, and she instantly thinks he's off his rocker because it's actually a fang. Or, what she believes: a wolf's fang. She immediately rejects doing the procedure and then all hell breaks loose. The mob finds her place of business and shoots up the clinic's storefront, she ends up seeing blood and faints on Roman, and he still needs his tooth replaced.

It will take a bit of work getting her to do the procedure (and she eventually does, so yay for Roman). Then, they have to deal with why the mob is after Shanna, and finding out that her dad is actually in the CIA on a top secret covert team called The Stake Out team, tasked with wiping out the entire vampire race. Shanna and Roman, in the midst of all this drama, develop strong feelings for each other and eventually fall in love. But, can the two endure everything that is going on? Is it even possible for a vampire and human to have a relationship in the first place? You'll just have to buy the book and read for yourself.

"AARRGH" - amateur storytelling

The writing here is amateur at best. A few (emphasis on few) clever moments, but basically, a juvenile attempt at storytelling. The narrator did the best she could with the material, that's for sure. It's a little hard to be taken seriously, though, when the characters literally say "aarrgh" as a form of communication when trying to convey frustration. I couldn't help but imagine that at any moment a character might say "aarrgh, matey, we're here to steal your gold."

Very low on the sexy/steam scale, too. All in all, if you want to have something playing in the background while you're working, meh, I guess it's better than elevator music. But barely.
