Publisher's summary

Genevieve McInnis is locked behind the fortified walls of McHugh Keep, captive of a cruel laird who takes great pleasure in ruining her for any other man. Yet when Bowen Montgomery storms the gates on a mission of clan warfare, Genevieve finds that her spirit is bent but not broken. Still, her path toward freedom remains uncertain. Unable to bear the shame of returning to a family that believes her dead or to abandon others at the keep to an imposing new laird, Genevieve opts for the peaceful life of an abbess. But Bowen's rugged sensuality stirs something deep inside her that longs to be awakened by his patient, gentle caress - something warm, wicked, and tempting.

Bowen seizes his enemy's keep, unprepared for the brooding and reclusive woman who captures his heart. He's enchanted by her fierce determination, her unusual beauty, and her quiet, unfailing strength. But wooing her will take more than a seasoned seducer's skill. For loving Genevieve, he discovers, means giving her back the freedom that was stolen from her - even if it means losing her forever.

Can't wait for book 3

Wow! Maya Banks is the queen of Highland Romance books. Even though it's not my favorite genre, I keep going back again and again to her books. I thought this second installment was even better then the first and I am anxiously waiting for book 3. (Brodie's story) If Ms. Banks keeps writing them I'll keep coming back for more.

Best of Maya!

Maya Banks best series are her Highlanders books and this one doesn't not disappoint. She brings out a huge range of emotion and you deeply care for Genevieve from the very start. There is just no bad part in the book, its a roller coaster ride that pulls on your heart strings. Get it, you'll see what I'm talking about and you won't be disappointed!

Touching Romance with a twist!

Would you listen to Highlander Most Wanted again? Why?

Yes. We'll written, different plot twist, same sexy highlanders!

What other book might you compare Highlander Most Wanted to and why?

Banks's Seduction of a Highland Lass.. Very similar but this book offers a bit of a twist.

Which character – as performed by Kirsten Potter – was your favorite?

She's not as big a character in this book but is in the first... But I love how she plays Rory. Potter is the very best there is! She makes me lose myself in every book she narrates. She is the PERFECT ACCENT narrator. They ALL sound real and so believable. Men and women and children alike... She is THE BEST!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes yes yes! Sleep is overrated. This book was impossible to pause!

Any additional comments?

While the Montgomery and Armstrong Series is WONDERFUL....it is not quite as good as Banks's McCabe Series. The McCabe Series is my all time favorite....Montgomery and Armstrong series is a close second! Banks is BRILLIANT! I wish she wrote only highland romances because she does them so perfectly.

This books title doesn't make any sense once the book is listened to.....but that's just a petty thought.

Very good Highlander romance :D

This is a very good story and a great continuation of the series. Genevieve and Bowen make such a good couple that I was happily rooting for them at the end.

Genevieve was a captive of a very evil man, Ian McHugh who was killed in book 1, Never Seduce a Scot. With Ian's death, Genevieve is now free but she has no money or place to go so she's still there when Bowen and the others arrive at the keep.

Bowen was one of the men sent to the McHugh keep to take it over after everything that occurs from book 1. He finds himself fascinated by Genevieve and tries to figure out her story. Once he does he finds he has developed feelings for her but fears she'll always be too wounded to return his feelings.

Genevieve was almost broken when Bowen came and saved her. He was the first man to be tender with her and he shows her what love between a man and woman can be. She comes alive again but there's still a sadness in her because she fears contacting her family for fear they'd reject her for the evil Ian did to her. Bowen feels out that she'll never be truly healed until she reunites with her family so he contacts them without her knowledge.

In the end, Genevieve reunites with her family and leaves Bowen to go back to her Clan. She's happy to see her family and be home but is sad because she misses Bowen. I was really happy with the ending but my only issue is the reason why they ended up back together but I was so happy they got their HEA that it really didn't matter...I was satisfied with the ending.

Very good book. I did like the first book better but this one was still very good and well worth the listen. I'd recommend it. 2 thumbs up! :D

Enjoyed

I enjoyed this story very much. My biggest issue is the narration. Kirsten Potter is an OK narrator but her male voices are very weak. There are so many male voices that you can't identify who is talking. Other than that, the story itself is excellent.

Angsty and drama filled

Audiobook: Narrator - Kristen Potter

I swear by all that is holy that this narrator is the absolute BEST for this series as well as the other series located in Scotland. I can’t recommend her or this author’s highland series enough. They were made for each other!

Wow! This story just about broke my heart in two. I remember reading this one years ago and not really enjoying it that much. The only reason I can think of is that I was spoiled by all the Scotland magic I was reading at the time. Too much of anything can become tainted to some degree. With time and distance I realized that I actually loved this story.

This was so angsty, with such a damaged heroine and the beautiful, perfect hero that stood up for her. I swear I wanted to weep at the injustices done to Genevieve. But holy heck, was Bowen just too wonderful! His absolute resolution and determination to protect her from the harsh words and actions hurled at her was the kind of thing I love to see in my heroes.

I don’t want to give anything away, but the steps that are taken to bring about Genevieve’s happiness were actually soul destroying to me! Read/listen and you’ll know why. I love a selfless hero! This is definitely filled with angst, drama, wit, and romance. Highly recommend!

Beautiful!!!!

I feel like this was a beautiful take on Beauty on the Beast...Like an adult version. Although, it was tricky, Maya told this story beautifully..... I love the heroine in this she is so exposed, so raw, so real. I guess the Hero doesn’t disappoint either! Its a really great read!!!! Narration awesome once again in this series!
