Publisher's summary

Nikolai is a dragon shapeshifter who knows well the meaning of loss. Orphaned and raised to be a Dragon King, he never accepts defeat. Now, Nikolai prefers his solitude...until a beautiful, irresistible woman calls upon him for help - and Nikolai's whole world goes up in flames.

Ever since MI5 agent Esther woke to discover her mind taken over with magic, she feels like a stranger to herself. She looks to a notorious dragon, one who has the power to help her find her memory. But as she and Nikolai come closer to discovering what really happened to her, a dangerous passion ignites between them.

Can this lone Dragon King help the woman he's grown to love to uncover the truth about her past - or will a deep and fiery danger tear them both apart?

Very Hott

Love Donna Grant's books and am absolutely hooked on her collaboration with Anthony Ferguson! Through his amazing vocal talents, even down to the dialects, and her in-depth analysis of her characters, the jump from the audiobook into your room. Another awesome audiobook by Donna Grant and Anthony Ferguson. It's a must listen to!

Great story and mediocre narration..

Okay, so I’ve read all 12 of The Dragon Kings books (as well as the Dark Warriors series, the Dark Sword series, all the Reaper books to date, her LaRue books, all her novellas, and so on) and loved them all. The most important thing I loved about them is they are NOT written in the first person, like 95% of all dragon books are. And the second reason I love them is because they are not EROTIC, which I hate, hate, hate! Oh, there’s sex in them but Ms. Grant doesn’t try to make it as dirty as possible. There are a lot of dragon books out there but I just can’t read them for these two reasons.

That being said, I loved this book too. With Nicholai you learned a whole lot about Ulrik, a lot of nice things. I’ve never been sure about Ulrik; was he a good guy or bad guy. I mean I know he did some bad things but he never seemed to be ALL bad. And then there’s his uncle Mikkel. What a power-hungry coward he is.

And, wow! How about the turn of events with Usaeil, Queen of the Light Fae. There was a shocker. And you never know what’s going on with Balladyn. I was wondering if he was ever going to kill Taraeth. What an evil creep that King of the Fae’s was.

This was an awesome book about Nikolai following Esther wherever she wanted to go in order for her to find the Druid that messed with hers and Kinsey’s minds and then kept Esther from remember a big gap of things that happened in her life. (And all the while they fell in love.)

There was explicit sex in this book and the F-bomb was used 8 times.

As to the narration: What can I say? It’s Antony Ferguson. His women’s voices are terrible and he reads without emotion. I do think he yelled a couple of times but it takes more than that. I don’t know how many times that book said someone laughed and that’s one thing he NEVER does. No idea how he gets so many 4 and 5 star reviews.

OMG this book was just amazing 👏 ! I love it!

I love this book 📖! It is beyond amazing 👏 😍. I love Nikolai. He is just Fire 🔥 😍. I love Esther also. They are just perfect for each other. I love their relationship. Nikolai is an amazing men, he is ready to do anything for Esther. He is also ready to stand by her side whatever happens. Dragon 🐉 king 🤴 and Truth seeker. They are perfect. This book is spycie, I love it. I am also happy that Balladine did not die. I do not think I can Handle that. He is my favorite ❤. I love him. His problem is he is too jealous that Rhi might still love his dragon king. He shouldn't think of that since Rhi is with him. Rhi have feelings for him, and she is trying to move on. She needs him to help her. If he doesn't stop his jealousy he will lose her. I know it is not easy for him, but he needs to be more patient with her. I really love this book 📖! I will listen to it again.

Anticipation.... fantastic

Donna Grant is a master. I've never become so involved in a series of stories before. Each book ends with such greatness I'm eager and giddy for the next instalment to come out. Who knew that the supernatural could be so heart pounding. The suspense is killing me... lol

The Art of Spying and Love

I was introduced to this author as a part of the Audible Escape package. This book was purchased as both and eBook and audiobook. Heat is #12 in the Dark King series; which is a part of the greater Dark World. Characters from previous books appear and longer subplots are formed and beginning to build.

Esther North, sister of Henry and former MI5 agent is on the hunt to find memories that the Druid stole from her. She is worried she did something terrible and is haunted by a demon in her dreams. Tired and exhausted she feels she has no one to turn to except the talented Nikolai.

Nikolai, King of the Ivories, has a talent to create art of people’s memories. He feels compelled to draw Esther and wonders if could mean something more.

As with all Donna Grant books in the Dark World series once you get in… it is hard to get out.

Enjoyable & a bit different from the others

This story was a bit different from the others & very enjoyable. It is always a good reminder that there is still a bit of good in others even if they don't see it any more!
