Publisher's summary

Sweet with Heat: Seaside Summers features a group of fun, flirty, and emotional friends who gather each summer at their Cape Cod cottages. They're sassy, flawed, and so easy to relate to, you'll be begging to enter their circle of friends!

Hearts at Seaside by Addison Cole is the sweet edition of New York Times best-selling author Melissa Foster's steamy romance novel, Seaside Hearts. The stories and characters remain the same and convey all of the passion you expect between two people in love, without any explicit scenes or harsh language.

Jenna Ward is vivacious, spontaneous, and confident - except when she's around the man who stole her heart years earlier, strikingly handsome, quiet, and reliable Pete Lacroux. After years of trying to get his attention and overwhelmed from dealing with her mother's new cougar lifestyle, Jenna's giving up on Peter - and is ready to explore other men.

As the eldest of five siblings, with an alcoholic father to care for, boat craftsman Pete Lacroux always does the right thing and has no time for a real relationship. He's looking forward to seeing his friend, Jenna, a welcome distraction who's so sexy and painfully shy that she equally entertains and confuses him.

When Jenna picks up a hard-bodied construction worker, jealousy ignites Pete's true feelings, and he's unable to ignore the desires for Jenna he never realized he had. But Pete's not the quiet guy he appears to be, and his life is anything but conducive to a relationship. Can Jenna handle the real Pete Lacroux - the most alpha male she's ever seen - or will she crack under pressure? And can Pete reclaim the life he once had without tearing apart his family?

Sweet with Heat

AUDIOBOOK NOTE… Melissa Moran is a newer narrator to me but I am a huge fan of Addison Cole. With Addison Cole’s words and Melissa Moran’s voice this is the perfect audiobook. I could feel the story coming to life as I listened. The characters were real and their emotions came through in the words.

Sweet with Heat is the perfect description for this book. Jenna is hooked, for many many years on Pete. Pete is hooked on Jenna for just as long. Why haven’t they got together??? Jenna gets shy around Pete leaving him to believe he just might be too much for Jenna to handle. That sentence cannot be farther from the truth. They belong together. No doubts. No questions.

I loved how Jenna went after a construction worker to make Pete jealous. That construction worker ended up being sweet, attentive, smart, and almost perfect for Jenna. The only problem with Charlie is that he wasn’t Pete. For anyone else he would have been the perfect man. I liked that Addison Cole did not make Charlie a hunky, brainless, boring guy. She made him a guy that would be perfect for the Seaside Girls. All of that being said, I LOVE Pete’s reaction.

Both Jenna and Pete have known each other for what seems like forever yet there are things that they still have to learn about each other. Pete’s dad is a functioning alcoholic and he has been keeping that a secret from almost everyone. Opening up about that to Jenna was a tough scene, which was handled with so much care that I had no doubt that together Jenna and Pete could find the answer to save Pete’s dad and not make it an issue in their relationship. Jenna’s mom is also a “problem” but more like an embarrassment to Jenna. Jenna is worried that her mom will show up and embarrass her in front of Pete and the Seaside crew. By the end of the story I had no worries that they could handle anything thrown at them.

While each book in this series is a standalone story, it is fun to see the characters from previous books make appearance and catch up with what is happening in their lives. The next book is Amy’s story with Tony and I can’t wait!

Jenna and Pete

Jenna and Pete are two wonderful souls who need a little push. I love this story because unlike many other romance stories this one feels real! It will resonate with people of all ages and walks of life! The narration is good BUT not my favorite;). It is so hard to have a woman do the male voice BUT at least it is not a male doing the female voice(that really bothers me for some reason). Overall a wonderful book to listen to as you drive or hang out at your beach/pool! Enjoy!

Sometimes you need a bit of Sweet & Heat!

Sometimes you need to change your reading from Hot & Steamy to Sweet with Heat...

Addison Cole has brought another installment of her Seaside Summer series. Jenna & Pete have been friends for as long as she could remember. They have gone through life with a strong friendship. But under the surface, they wanted to be noticed by the other.
Pete doesn't want to feel the rejection of letting his feeling out and being shot down, so he sits by and only lets the friendship show.
Jenna needs more. She wants love and someone who will give her the passion she craves. So while Jenna tries to find that person, Pete decides that he needs to cross that friendship line.
This series has been a great additon to my collection. The books bring about a sweet love affair that fits the characters in this book. You want more of them and the circle of friends.
I also listened to this on audio, and the audio version brings the characters to life and draws you in. Definitely one my favs.

Hearts at Seaside - great audiobook

Melissa Moran reading Addison Cole’s Hearts at Seaside was the perfect companion to my long drive. Truly moments I laughed out loud and loved the various voices Ms Moran used. Jenna has loved Pete for many years but this summer at Seaside she decides to give up on him as he has her strictly in the friend zone. But can she do it? Interesting to see how Pete reacts to Jenna’s date with Charlie. Jenna and Pete each deal with some serious issues while searching for their happily ever after. I loved this Addison Cole book.

A Fantastic Summer Friends-to-Lovers Book!

Pete and Jenna have been friends forever, both want to be more, but of course neither of them knows how to take that next step to turn the relationship to something more. Jenna is such a fun and endearing character during this entire book with Pete. She is super outgoing and bubbly when she is with her friends, but when she is with Pete, she turns shy and can barely look him in the eyes because of the feelings she has for him.

Pete has so much on his plate as it is. Life has not been fair to him, and he struggles with the idea of tying to take things with Jenna to the next level because it could potentially ruin things with their friendship. He also just isn't sure he can handle a relationship on top of everything else going on in his life. However, when Jenna decides she is done waiting around for her Mister Right, and chooses a sexy construction worker to help her out, a switch flips in Pete, and he cannot sit back and watch Jenna be with anyone else.

These two were great together! When they FINALLY give in to their feelings, their relationship blooms into something explosive and just perfect for the two of them.

Melissas Moran did a phenomenal job yet again of bringing these two characters to life and totally pulling you into the story from the get go. I really enjoyed the audio book version of this story because the narrator didn't rush things throughout. She went at a pace that was perfect for the story, and allowed you totally immerse yourself in the book from start to finish.

Highly recommend this book, especially the Audible Version if you are looking for a fun, sweet, summer beach read!

Loved it!

Jenna had her eyes set on Peter for a while but no hint on whether or not they are going to take their relationship to the next level. So she does something she wouldn't normally do, strike up a conversation with a random dude and scores a date. Now it seems Peter after seeing Jenna reel in some guy, he's having a hard time keeping the feelings he had for her inside.

So this is my second time reading this book and its I still found this book just as enjoyable. Plus is a great summer read so yay for that. The only difference between last year and this year is that I got a chance to listen to this book read out by Melissa Moran. This was audiobook was a better experience for me since I've been swamped with things to do and getting the audiobook was really super convient being able to listen to this at any point.

I really enjoyed this book and the characters. I really loved the fact that it wasn't love at first sight with these two like so many books out there. I loved that as friends they were able to learn about eachother quirks and learn more about eachother more then they ever had as they get closer with one other. I liked that this book toed the edge of getting steamy without getting in depth. I loved getting to know these characters and getting to see thier family life. It was tough seeing what Peter was dealing with when it came to his father and how selfless and supportive he was. He didn't have to be the one to take care of his father but he was that much of a great son.

Overall this was a pretty great book and definitely worth the reread and if you are looking for a great book to listen to while your out on the beach you might want to consider listening to this book.

so flipping cute

Hearts at Seaside tells a story of love that has been simmering for years but has yet to reveal itself with both parties. I so understand the back story of Jenna and Pete. Both really have feelings for the other but neither has ever acted on or discussed those feelings with the other. Basically, they were hidden. When Jenna arrives for her summer, she is bound and determined to let Pete ignore her all he wants. She is going to go out of her shell and find another man. Except when she does, Pete goes berserk, not really crazy but decides he has to let her know how he really feels.

Moran breathes new life into a beloved tale.

No matter how many times I read Hearts at Seaside it continues to grab at my heart. Great characters, a beautiful story and a few lessons in life along the way.  This time around I decided to try a little audio stimulation, to maybe experience romance in a different way.  What I found is a deeper connection. Melissa Moran breathes new life into words that were already practically leaping off the page.  There are also parallels between Jenna and Pete's uncertainties and the lives of their parents.  Audio puts a different spin on beloved tale.

What a great read!

This is the story of Jenna and Pete. Jenna has ordered a secret crush on Pete for years. And it took her dating someone else for Pete to realize that he was in love with her. But will their families issues make a long term relationship unobtainable.

Addison Cole has woven another amazing tale of everlasting love.

But my very favorite part of this book is the Marshmallow Princess and the very detailed directions for a perfect golden brown marshmallow.

I dare you not to smile when you listen to that part. I enjoyed the narrator's voice. She does a great job making sure you know when it is a different character. I can't wait for more of these sweet with heat books.
