Publisher's summary

Mistakes? You name them, Jessica Sousa has made them, and having regrets doesn't change a damn thing. As her life begins to fall down around her, she questions every decision she's ever made. She comes to one conclusion - she doesn't deserve to be happy.

Preston West thinks Jessica is fine the way she is. He loves her and intends to convince her they belong together. A challenge never deterred him in the past, and he doesn't plan on letting it get in his way now.

Unfortunately, he might not have the time he thinks he does to win her heart. As the clock ticks down, they have to battle not only Jessica's stubborn pride, but her failing health, and someone hell bent on destroying her forever.

The odds are against Jessica and Preston, will they find a way to beat them?

Warmed my heart

Jessica thinks she's an amazing person and cares little for other people's feelings. She soon learns though, that if you treat people unfairly, you might find yourself alone. When she learns she's ill, she feels as if she has no one to comfort her in her time of need. She lost her husband when she cheated on him, and now she feels undeserving of love. She even pushes away Preston, the man who truly loves her. I love how the author showed us Jessica's journey from a selfish woman who thinks only of herself, to one who must learn that it's okay to need someone in her life. It's a heartwarming story with good story flow. I have to confess I did not care much for the performance. However, I'm sure my opinion was based on the fact that there was quite a bit of background noise that should be edited out. The story definitely makes up for it though.

Really enjoyed this book!!!

This story has such a good HEA. Jessica and Preston had such a rocky road ahead of them. I enjoyed listening to them conquer all of the road blocks they encountered!!!

Another great Dawn Brower Book

Not gonna lie. I did not like Jessica for most of the book. This is a love story between Jessica who is not a nice person, she is self centered and behaved as kinda of Queen B. Preston has been in love with Jessica forever. He sees through Jessica to the sweet girl inside. At first, I agreed with Jessica that Preston was to god for her. But Through the book Preston helps us see the Jessica he loves and helps to bring that Jessica out. It's a great story that helped me see everyone deserves love and love changes everything. Ken Solin does a great job with the narration of all the characters. Book finished, I feel bad for not giving Jessica a chance. Great story with some twists and turns you won't see coming

Harsh and sweet

Well written the characters are well created and strong sometimes almost to strong. When I feel sympathy with a bitch character or an ex bitch we are in trouble lol.
I could feel this character and like her.
I can recommend this book to you who like love stories and good ending.

Good story, narration needs work

The author gives you a pleasant listen filled with touching romance, a little danger, a mystery, a few heart breaks and healing. This series has been a delight to listen to, with lots of passion and pain. It is a believable story with wonderful characters. I really enjoyed the mystery and seeing how this couple would deal with their issues. There are a few surprises that will make your mouth drop open, sure didn’t see that coming.

The narration isn't bad, there are some issues, I really didn’t feel the emotions through his narration, you could hear him swallow, and take a breath, after I got use to it I really didn’t notice as much. The character voices weren’t bad but would have been better with true emotions. I just didn’t feel the anger, tears or shock. There are no background noises, no repeating of words, and could tell when breaks were taken. I would listen to more of this narrators work, he didn’t do a bad job.

I really have enjoyed this series, I thought the author did a great job giving a good plot with good characters. She keeps it interesting, the danger is an unexpected surprise, along with the budding friendship. Jessica  wasn’t my favorite character in the first books but she has come to be one of my favorite. Off to start the next book in the series.

Characters Never Clicked

The hero and heroine of this book were the villains of the first book of the series. I love a good redemption story, so I was most curious to read their story. Unfortunately, I was ultimately disappointed. I liked how the author started the book by showing that first scene that led them to be the villains of the first book; we got to see it from their perspective. Things go wrong for the heroine pretty fast in several areas of life; frankly, it seemed a bit much, first medical issues and then financial problems. Melodramatic much? Unfortunately, this book never quite gelled for me. The author didn't show the reader how this couple felt anything more for each other beyond their sexual intimacy for too long. Despite the very real problems the heroine faced, the story felt shallow. The couple seemed to hop into bed with each other frequently, even though their relationship outside the bedroom seemed nonexistent. Not a fan of that kind of “romance.”

UGH! I did not like this book.

**I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.**

This may be a personal preference, but I didn't enjoy the male narrator, when they story was primarily, not exclusively, from a female protagonist.

I kept having to take breaks from listening to this audio book, I couldn't stand the protagonist and I didn't care what happened to her. I have not listened to any other books in the series, and have no desire to do so!

I am disappointed, I didn't want to finish it, but I knew I agreed to listen for a review and I do feel bad that I am leaving this horrible review, but the agreement is to be honest and I hope no one spends any credits on this book.

Horrible

First this narrator was a mess. He did not go with the book.
Whoever picks the narrators for this author is doing this series a disservice.
Also referred to Lana almost the end as being killed, when she wasn't. I had to rewind to make sure I heard him right.
I'm interested in finishing this series, but I sure hope that the narrator get better or I will have to forward through it.
