An Actual Ending....

I have been reading the Warriors of Poseidon series since the first book came out on Audible, and it's been a bit of a rocky ride. While I enjoyed the concept and the stories overall, I wasn't always so thrilled with the narration. Imagine my glee when I discovered they had changed narrators for this final installment and that one of my very favorite narrators, Xe Sands, was reading it. It made, for me, all the difference in the world. I think if she had read the series from the beginning, it would have changed this from a series I "liked" to a series that I "loved". She absolutely nailed it in my opinion.

In this book we Finally (yes, Finally with a capital F) get Alaric and Quinn's story. These two met in the very first book and boy did the sparks fly. They run into each other at least once a book for the next 6 books, leaving us wondering what would come of their seemingly doomed affection for each other. Now I know, but if you want to find out, you'll have to read the book! They were, from the beginning, such a mismatched couple that it was almost humorous. I was so happy to see that they were finally going to get their story told.

I was also happy that this book actually tied up all the loose ends of the Warriors of Poseidon series. I love a good series, and some I don't mind going on more or less indefinitely, but this particular series had an "end point" that you could see coming from the beginning, and it would have just been wrong to have carried it on and on without resolution. Alyssa Day does exactly the right thing by making this the last book in this series and ending this story line arc. I couldn't be more pleased and would recommend this series to any PNR fan.

loved it, great story and narration

I couldn't wait for this story and I was not disappointed. Xe Sands never fails to please. The male voices are sooo sexy. Alaric was positively toe curling. I am only half way so far but I am loving every minute.

Satisfying ending to the Atlantis series

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend the book, but suggest starting with the first book in the series. Alaric and Quinn's story builds through the first seven books, and this final book brings them together. The read/listen will be much more satisfying if you have read the full series.

What did you like best about this story?

Quinn and Alaric finally figure things out!

Have you listened to any of Xe Sands’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This was the first time I have heard her performance. I thought she did a good job with the male and female voices.

Very disappointed they changed narrator last book

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The story was great but hated that they changed the narrator for the last book, Xe Sands is a wonderful narrator but not for this book. She changed the personalities, voices and cadence of the books. I could finish listening and had to read the last book.

Who was your favorite character and why?

All of them

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Xe Sands?

Jason Swanson as he had done the first 7 books. He had created the voices and personalities of all the characters. It was a shame he wasn't given the opportunity to complete the series.

Any additional comments?

Authors and Publishers need to stop changing narrators in the middle of a series. Even though they may not have been the perfect "first" choice - we as listeners adapt to their style for that particular series.

I love this series the character are so interesting and the store line keeps you wanting to know who will fall next. What obstacle will they face, that you have to keep going. if your looking for a good story line, this is your book...

A shame the narrator changed

The story was great! It is VERY DISAPPOINTING that after 7 books in the series narrated by Josh Swanson, the final and most pivotal book would be narrated by another person. Xe Sands had difficulty in the lower ranges for the male voices and considering a vast majority of the characters are male, not an enjoyable listen.

Absolutly LOVED it!!!

One of the best in the series.

Excellent narration. Different narrator from the first 7 books in the series, but still enjoyable.

This was a much anticipated book, that supposedly ends the series, it did not disappoint.
I laughed and cried throughout. It was one of those that I couldn't stop listening to.

I hope that Alyssa continues this series. I would like to hear about some of the other charactors that have been introduced into the storyline.

I highly recommend the entire series.

Alyssa Day is HOT

Would you consider the audio edition of Heart of Atlantis to be better than the print version?

I plan on reading the book again myself. The print is better in my head.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Quinn of course. She is so funny, gritty, but vulnerable.

What about Xe Sands’s performance did you like?

Not much.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I absolutely loved when Quinn and Alaric soul melded.

Any additional comments?

Xe read the book as though she had not read the rest of the series. She didn't understand who the characters. Ven is a smart ass that loves to joke around, I didn't get that in the voice she tried to do. All the men where the same, sad, confused and defeated. These are Atlantean Warriors. They are supposed to be fierce and pissed off!

What other book might you compare Heart of Atlantis to and why?

NO COMPARISON!!

Have you listened to any of Xe Sands’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I DID NOT LIKE THE FACT THAT THEY USED A WOMAN TO READ THIS IT WAS ACKWARD AND I DIDN'T UNDERSTAND WHY???????????????

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

IT WASN'T THE BEST OF THE SERIES BUT I LOVE THAT ALARIC GOT TO FINALLY SHOW HIS SOFTER SIDE

Very disappointed

I have read all of the books and out of all of them this one was the worst. There were a few times that it made me laugh and even tear up, but after reading this I have decided that I need to write romance novels and be sure not to use Xe Sands as a narrator. I was so glad to hear that our celebate priest was finally able to be free to love, but it was written so poorly that I wanted to fast forward it all.
