Publisher's summary

Jay "Flash" Reynolds has a brilliant future as a trauma surgeon until a truck on a rainy night changes her life. Assistant chief medical examiner Olivia Price is more at ease with the dead than the living - at least the dead never lie. All she needs to do is listen to their stories. What she doesn't need is a surly new resident who would rather be somewhere else.

Two women, one with a damaged body, the other a damaged spirit, challenge each other to dare to live again.

A First Responders romance.

Ugh

This book had so much potential. The narrators robotic voice lacks emotion. It was like listening to Suri read a story.

Ended too soon. Probably a follow up in the future. Looking forward to it in the future in

Storyline is awesome.

I’m a great fan of Radclyffe’s books and this story does not disappoint. However, the narrator did not portray the characters very well.

Change the narrator

I couldn’t get into the story with the very distracting narration. I expected a Dr Seuss line to pop out. Radclyffe has some of the greatest narrators from Abby Craden to Betsy Zajko who can convey more serious tones when needed. This narrator should stay with children’s books.

Couldn’t get past Narrator

I tried three times to listen to this book and never made it. The narrator finally won and I waved the white flag in defeat!

Good story, terrible voice acting

The story was good. I like the Jay character and love the mix of other known characters. I’m so disappointed with the voice acting. This is the second book I’ve listened to with this actor and I will have to avoid her in the future. Her main character and narration are fine. But, when she tries to do the alternate lead or a male voice it’s terrible. It sounds like either a petulant teenaged boy or someone with a hearing disability. It seriously takes away from the enjoyment of a solid story.

Don't bother

I am a Radclyffe fan , but the storyline was weak. The characters are not the least bit believeable and trying to tie them into other characters from previous books was a stretch. In the end it doesn't resolve half the story line. Too say the least about the narrator if I could rate it less than 1 I would have. Just trying to get to the end of the book was painful. Maybe her next book will be better, or maybe I'll just skip the audible version.

Another great Radclyffe book

The story is connected to another series and was very enjoyable. As usual the story line interesting, great characters.
This time Paige McKinney did an excellent job, she was not as slow as in other books, didn’t give this winy childish voice to anyone. She was great.

Another book ruined by terrible narration.

Well neat. This is the first Radclyffe book I can't finish because the narrator's voice for one of the main characters, well several characters, is so bad. For me, listening to Radclyffe is a slam dunk good use of a credit; it's like coming home.
Not this time. The narrator's read of the sex scenes is so terrible it's roughly the equivalent of someone describing my parents having sex; neither of which are anything I want to be a part of. She is completely emotionless and has a sing song quality to her voice. Save your valuable credit for another book. Trust me.

Not Radcliffe's best but plain good. Poor narration.

A plain good story, with a good rhythm overall and an enjoyable reacquaintance with characters from previous books. It feels as if the author were winking at the reader.
Poor narration, though. In the romantic scenes, including the steamy ones, McKinney does not sound but like a general commanding her troops. It sort of feels awkward.
Look forward for more Radcliffe books. I love the 1st responders series.
