Publisher's summary

After fighting in the war for 12 years, Alec "A-Train" Jacob returns to the United States to find out while he was away, things changed drastically at home. In an effort to find peace of mind - and hopefully a new beginning - he rides his motorcycle from Wichita, Kansas to Austin, Texas.

Filled with a desire to continue to protect those who he sees as a victim, he's always quick to step in and assist anyone in need. Through a newfound friend, he meets a woman who was the victim of as random act of violence. Initially, he hopes for nothing in return but the satisfaction of helping her.

Katie "Bug" Ripton is attempting to quietly recover from being the victim of an assault. When she meets Alec, she sees a man who is kind, considerate, and not only capable of comforting her, but willing to protect her from harm. Apart, their lives are empty and seem to be haunted by the memories of their pasts.

Together, their pasts disappear, and a future begins to unfold. A future every girl dreams of obtaining, but few ever do.

Hard Corps is a stand-alone, HEA, no cheating, no sex outside the relationship romance novel.

Phenomenal

Hard Corp is my favorite of Scott's books. While all of his written work is fantastic and each have their own moving story, to me this book has the combined heart of them all. Heartache, compassion, loyalty, truth, respect. Above all unconditional love. While mean profess they love unconditionally Scott shows, in the pages of Hard Corp, exactly what that term means.

Alec and Katie

Absolutely fantastic! Alec and Katie go on a unbelievably endearing, and captivating journey. You can go wrong with one of Mr. Hildreth’s stories.

Very touching!!!!

I don’t know how to start to explain how I feel about this novel, but let me try. This is not really a romance. This is the story of A marine who spent a decade of his life fulfilling the oath he made to his country and the to the brotherhood of his fellow marines. Simper Fi, always faithful to God, Country and Corp. His values are steadfast and true, Unfortunately, he learns the tough lesson that not all people do what is right or stick to their oaths. He also learns that fulfilling his oaths, faithfully, does not absolve a soldier of the mental scars caused by war. Emotional healing is a long process and it is the love of friends, family, the right woman and the unconditional love of a special needs baby that finally fills the damage done to his soul. In addition, he has to be learn to forgive the imperfections of all the people in his life; including himself. This journey to inner peace is the theme of this novel. MC life is only on the periphery, as is the romance between the H/h. There are not any hot sex scenes and many readers may find the Hero’s “goody two shoes” and old fashion values to be annoying. I did not, I found it beautiful and refreshing. The rest of the series is more on the lines of a traditional MC romance. This novel shows the author’s true gift for character development. This novel also allows the reader to experience some of the horrors of war and all that it entails. I believe it is a must read/listen.

Another great Scott Hildreth book and audible book

Once again Scott has a complex character that we have the pleasure to watch him to through his life's journey. Alec for most of his life was a combat Marine. Now a civilian Marine, he still protects others. Katie comes into his life and the journey gets even better.

Really Enjoyed It, but Know What You're Getting...

This was an excellent novel, about a Marine who spent 12 years in combat, and then returned to try to find his way in the civilian world. There's so much to this story, and I really enjoyed it, but you need to know, going into it, that it's not a "romance" and definitely not an "erotic" novel. There is a romantic relationship, but it's definitely not the focus of the story (she's not even introduced until maybe half-way through, and her scenes are limited), although it's an essential element to it, and to the main character's growth and development. Alec is a unique character, and there are things about him that are likeable and admirable, and things that would drive you crazy about him... just like a real person. That's what I enjoyed the most about this novel, and about Hildreth's books in general. They're about "real" people (although often with over the top characteristics) and how they deal with life and situations.

The male narrator did a fantastic job, and I enjoyed his portrayals and characterizations. The female narrator was only used for the prologue and the epilogue, which, honestly was a good thing, as she came off as very mechanical-sounding. I don't think I would have made it through the book of she had narrated large chunks of it. As is, it was great.

Love this book!!! I couldn't put it down.

The story is a different that I normally read. Our hero has a deep and abiding faith in God. He expresses his faith and prays. Love it.
I want more ROMANCE books like this.

You cheated us out of the wedding night.

I love this book, but, I felt cheated that we didn't get to read about the wedding night. 🤔😥

Boring!

While some of it was interesting for the most part it was just boring. It started out good but it just dipped & dragged after that.
