Publisher's summary

E L James revisits the world of Fifty Shades with a deeper and darker take on the love story that has enthralled millions around the globe.

Look for E L James’ passionate new love story, The Mister, available now.

Christian Grey exercises control in all things; his world is neat, disciplined, and utterly empty - until the day that Anastasia Steele falls into his office, in a tangle of shapely limbs and tumbling brown hair. He tries to forget her, but instead is swept up in a storm of emotion he cannot comprehend and cannot resist. Unlike any woman he has known before, shy, unworldly Ana seems to see right through him - past the business prodigy and the penthouse lifestyle to Christian's cold, wounded heart.

Will being with Ana dispel the horrors of his childhood that haunt Christian every night? Or will his dark sexual desires, his compulsion to control, and the self-loathing that fills his soul drive this girl away and destroy the fragile hope she offers him?

This audiobook is intended for mature audiences.

It was great to hear Christians POV

Any additional comments?

It was great to find out all the things that went on in the story when Anna could not hear or wasn't around. Yes it is the same story but it had a totally different feel to it. When you read the original books you have questions. Why did he know so much about her? To Anna he just showed up out of the blue but from Christian's POV you find out what was really going on. You get to hear what got said between him and Mrs. Robbinson, what was said on the other end of phone conversations. All the things that drove Anna (and the reader) crazy because she wanted to know what was going on, in this book you get to find out. Plus, without all of Anna's inner thoughts you get to hear Christian's inner thoughts and how he didn't always understand what was going on with Anna. You find out that neither one of them was communicating what they felt to each other. I would like to see the other 2 books done in his POV. I really enjoyed it. I don't understand why so many are upset and shocked that it is the same story. There was no secret about that. Heck that's why it says 50 Shades of Grey as told by Christian. I also loved the narrator for this book. He did a great job.

Prefer this telling

The narrator for the first three books made me want to burst my eardrums. I just did not care for her but the stories
kept me listening.

The narrator for this book is great. I like his voice. Hearing the story from Christian 's point of view skips all the girly girly stuff I didn't enjoy in the first 3. Hearing the childhood memories is also interesting. I would never pretend that the Fifty Shades series are meant to be serious literature, they aren't meant to be, but hearing the flip side is more enjoyable and it's a little deeper.

These aren't the type of stories I normally enjoy. I am not a romance junkie and frankly the fantasy of poor beautiful girl is swept off her feet by gorgeous young billionaire makes me cringe. EL James does it well and there is a story beyond rich man poor woman .

Narration

The narrator continued to call Elena, Elaina.... Not great narration. The reading is well and the book is great, just pronounce properly,

He is still one of my top fave Dominant's

I was leery about purchasing this book. I did not want it to be a re-print of the fifty shades series. It was the original story but so much more than that! I hope there is going to be another POV book for books 2 and 3.
This book ends where book 2 begins however it shows is Christian's struggle with the break up. I enjoyed with this book the many facets' of Christian's relationships with Mia, Elliott, Mom, Elena, Roz and Dr. Flynn. Also a little banter with Claude Bastille and Andrea . I just love the behind the scenes working of Christians mind.
I recommend it. It was worth it.

Zachary Webber - OH MY

If you could sum up Grey in three words, what would they be?

BEST NARRATION EVER!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Great to hear this story from the man's point of view. So excited that the Audible book was released on the same day as the book.

Exactly what I was hoping it was!

I have missed these characters and I hope Mrs. James writes the other 2 books from Christians perspective as well!

Did you ever wonder what Elliot's reaction was when Christian said he had to go get Anna from a bar?

Did you ever wonder what was going through Christians mind when the belt incident happened? This book gives a whole hour of what was Christian thinking after Anna dropped that bomb shell.

If you loved the trilogy this book is for you, if you didn't like the trilogy this book won't change your mind so quit writing bad reviews.

I am on the fence

I loved the fact that it was in christians thought process but it is pretty much the same as the first book. Its more interesting than hearing a silly timid woman's thoughts. I like this one better but i wish it was a bit more. Still better than the movie

Same exact book just with added thoughts and email

What would have made Grey better?

I thought it would start from the beginning like a prequel and it does not. It start with Bastille in the office before Anna came along, all scenes are set to follow original with Christian thoughts and they aren't even sinister. His thoughts are what he would like to do to Anna sexually. Atleast the narration is better. I do wish he would of sounded more enthusiastic at times.

What do you think your next listen will be?

M Malone if you get more in. I have read everything you have so far.

Have you listened to any of Zachary Webber’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes and I love his sexy voice.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Grey?

Did they have to repeat every last sentence from the first book! I gave it 3 stars because I loved FSOG but this is ridiculous.

Any additional comments?

If you like the same book with a different point of view, than this book is for you.

BEST and WORST OF GREY

What did you love best about Grey?

BEST of Grey. It was nice to hear this story from Christian Grey's POV. It was a much better story and the quality of writing has improved from the trilogy. I really enjoyed the story, and loved Grey's sense of humor. Believe it or not he does have one, and the man was truly Fifty Shades. Listening from his POV you will totally understand.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Grey?

My most memorable moment was Grey's visit with Dr. Flynn. Overall memorable moments of laughter. I found myself laughing out loud often.

How could the performance have been better?

WORST of Grey. Zachary Webber has an excellent narrator voice, however the producer didn't direct him to a great performance. Throughout the novel he lacked enthusiasm. In parts where I expected a dramatic voice, he carried the same even tone. There was little difference between the male and female characters. Also, with this recording there are different pronunciations of some key characters. Leelah vs Leila and Elena vs Elaina. In my opinion, this performance would have been better if they stuck with Becca Batoe.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

If Grey's production is anything like the first film, DUH DON'T BOTHER. That film was AWFUL. Stick to the books.

Any additional comments?

I hope the author writes the remaining books in Christian Grey's POV.
