Publisher's summary

Marion MacAlister wants to nail her audition, not get nailed. Truly. Honestly. All right...maybe she does want to get nailed, but that's just because her hottie landlord and local diner owner Mack Ryan is confusing her. Can friends become lovers? Especially friends who might not even be friends in the first place?

Going Down is the sexy and hilarious first novella in the Five Wishes series.

Marion is a starving actress, behind on her rent, and dependent on her friend/landlords diner to eat...they have a flirtation...and after getting stuck in the elevator together..things get taken to the the next level...they have a witty banter between them and its a fun little story, I enjoyed it very much!!!

Well done

As a consumer of mystery, suspense and Noir novels, it is nice to occasionally veer off of the path to see what is going in romance country. Elise Sax spun the tale at the perfect length with just enough romantic tension to make it interesting. Angie Hickman's narration was music with a nice variation between characters. This was a very pleasant audio book that the author, publisher or narrator provided to me in exchange for my review.

Very Cute and Enjoyable Short Story

I received this audiobook free for an honest opinion. I thought Elise Sax did a great job with this romantic comedy. There were some funny spots with some cute analogies and puns. Very light reading. Elise gave us a complete story in short amount of time. However, the ending required me to finish it in my head. Not too hard to do. The narrator, Angie Hickman, did a great job of distinguishing each of the characters. She did not detract from the story as some narrators do. Love this short story. Also, great idea to give the reader an introduction of the next book at the end. I'm gonna download it now, just to hear the rest of the next story. Nice teaser.

Adorable Wish Fulfillment

This was another great novella from Elise Sax! Marion is behind on her rent again, and uses her lucky silver dollar to make a wish in the famous wishing fountain. She's on her way home to change for an audition and she really needs to land this job. Mack, who happens to be her landlord, local diner owner, and crush all in one gorgeous package, joins her in the building's elevator just in time for it to get stuck between levels.

Having listened to three of these books now, I can say that the author's work improves with each one, and each book just gets funnier. Marion is kind of an exasperating hot mess, but still adorable. It's easy light reading that will bring a smile to your face.

Angie Hickman did a great job as usual, she has the perfect voice for these lighthearted romances. Her reading isn't too dramatic, and just sucks you right into the book. Great author/narrator combo!

Funny Short Story

I got this book via audiobook boom. This was one of those quick books that make you laugh out loud. The narration was good and the story was well written. There was just enough tension to keep you listening.

Sad

This book just sucks. The female character is so pathetic and whiny that you just want to smack her and tell her to get a clue. Or just to shut up.

NARRATOR ......
The narrator is awful.

Great start to a series

Any additional comments?

This was a nice little romance with a really good narrator. The story never got too bogged down with the crazy that propels some romances but it gave just enough to care about the HEA.

The only problem I had with this listen was when Channing Tatum, in describing Mack, was referred to as Tatum Channing. (You just can't make that stuff up.) Other than that, this was a great listen! Well, even with that, this was a pretty good listen.

Cute but brief

Where does Going Down rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I have listened to a lot of audio books so it's hard to answer this question as far as ranking it. How do you rank 1 book out of 800+ audiobooks? I can say that it was cute and enjoyable.

What other book might you compare Going Down to and why?

It sorta reminded me of Tara sivecs holiday novella series in some moments.

Which scene was your favorite?

Elevator scene... and I laughed at the just three of us comment.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes it is a very brief book, and easy to listen in one go.

Any additional comments?

I think this was quirky and cute start to a novella series. The first book is really brief so I was surprised that the last 2 chapters were preview for book 2. The narrator did a great job and I really felt like the voice matched the personality. I received this audiobook from audiobook boom for free for my unbiased review.
