Publisher's Summary

I don't play dirty, I play to win.

"The more innocent a girl looks, the wilder she is in bed...and that goes double for Natalie"

I went to see my childhood idol but instead I saw the girl I could never forget. People always say there's always one that got away, and for me that was Natalie. We spent one amazing summer together but then I never saw her again...until now.

"Good girls love bad boys always seemed like such a cliché saying to me."

From the moment I saw him on my doorstep I knew I was his, whether I wanted to be or not. Our time together was sinfully sweet but also short, as we both knew it had to come to an end. Only for me, it was just the beginning, as after Chris left I found out I was pregnant with his child.

    "Second Chances Contemporary Romance"

This was an entertaining story and it gripped my attention from the beginning. It is part of a series but you can read it as a stand alone.

The narrator did a good job bringing the story to life.

Chris was really an immature guy. Specially for how old he was. He acted more like a high schooler than a NFL player. The story also jumped from when they met to about 5 years later.

Natalie was unusually dependent on her father. He was pretty controlling and judgmental. I was shocked at what he did to her. Lying about Chris was so wrong regardless of his intentions.

The story concludes with a HEA which is my type of conclusion! No Cliffhangers here.

    "Great Football/Sports Romance"

Chris Taylor has been released by his professional football team in Florida because of his less than desirable behavior. He has been picked up by team in California, the Tigers, in sort of a probationary position. As he is used to being the star quarterback of the team – this does not sit well with him. But, as the author pointed out, as a professional football player he needs to buck up and remember that his life is an open book to the team, the coaches and the public.

Chris decides to look up his football hero and instead meets his 22-year-old daughter, Natalie.
Russell Boyd is very overprotective of his daughter, especially around the likes of such a reprobate as Chris Taylor. When Mr. Boyd finds out that Natalie and Chris have been sneaking around he lets Chris know that in no uncertain terms he will ruin his football career if he ever sees our contacts Natalie again. Natalie only knows that after a special – to her – night he stops contacting her altogether.

There are couple of twists that I could allude to but I feel that would spoil. They came out of nowhere, for me which is unusual (I can usually see them coming from a mile away) I hope that they surprise other listeners as well.

I usually enjoy Aundrea Mitchell's performances. It really makes it hard to write the following bit of negative feedback. This was the wrong narrator for this book – it sounds like she has a Canadian accent and this is about American football. .

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would have given it five stars across the board but for the unfortunate choice of the narrator.

*I received this book in exchange for my review.

    "great fun story"
    Any additional comments?

I am not even sure I should rate this audio because I did not finish it. The reasoning being that I had a hard time getting through the “she said, he said” every few words. My feelings are if you are doing character voices let the voice tell who is saying what. A few of these are find but as many times as it was being done in this audio is way, way to much. I did not finish the audio but I did read the story and found that much more enjoyable.

Ms. Mitchell does have a pleasant voice. Her character voices are great you always know who is talking and what they are feeling. She gives a lot of emotion to the audio hitting the tones right. The only problem I had was the he said she said so many times. It was so much it was hard for the narrator to go out of character voice to her normal voice in a smooth transition. From what I did listen to there was no background noise or any repeat of wording. The volume pretty much stayed the same throughout. It just wasn’t smooth maybe a pause is needed between the he said she said it was all blended together. My thoughts are it just isn’t needed since the voices shows who is talking. I really do not know what rating to give this so I am going with a 3 since the rest was good.

As far as the author she gives a compelling read of a second chance, secret baby that really pulls the reader in. The playboy side of Chris gets him in hot water with Natalie father who comes across as over powering along with over protective. But I think most of us would feel the same way if it was our daughter. Things ends so fast until you fast forward five years to a chance meeting and a little boy leaving Chris unsure of what to do. The author gives you a romance of ups and downs, confusion along with heartbreak. It was a fun reading about these characters and all they have to go through to find a happy ending.

"great story, poor editing, production and perfor."

I really enjoyed the story. However, if I heard "I said", "he said", "she said", one more time, I was frustratingly stopping! It was extremely difficult to listen to without rolling my eyes and being annoyed. I stuck it out because I liked the story line. What is the purpose of having dual narration if you were going to keep up the constant "he said/"she said". The voices should have spoken for themselves. I also think it would have actually been a little more bearable, had there actually have been a male narrator for Chris. With that being said, I really did enjoy the story, but I'll never listen to this author again unless changes are made to the editing, production and narraation. I have been listening to audible for years now, and have never come across such annoyance. I wish I would have just read the book instead of listening. It would have definately been more enjoyable. I hope this review is noticed by the author and it taken into serious consideration. I really believe there would be so much more success for the author on audible.

    "A ROMANCE WINNER"
    Any additional comments?

I was provided this audiobook through Audiobook Boom at no charge by the author in exchange for an unbiased review.

The story is one of Roxie's best. Although it spans about 6-7 years in total, she managed to endear both characters to me in the short 4-1/2 hour listen. The situations they faced were believable and the insta-love wasn't a forerunner but worked into the HEA.

Natalie was sweet but proved she had the determination of steel. Chris was likable from the start. As he entered the "black zone" in their relationship, I was dismayed that little was mentioned of his regrets and thoughts of Natalie. He came across as the Dick the media promoted. Here is where a more detailed, longer story could have upped the story experience. But that said, he does redeem himself later.

This listen will satisfy those looking for a light romance. There's a lack of periphery descriptions such as team colors, what homes look like (inside and out), the weather or the season, clothing, and minute details of people other than height and hair color (I still can't picture Natalie's father or Michael).

Although I've enjoyed Andrea Mitchell's narration when coupled with a male narrator but alone, she fell short on my yardstick for the male vocals. There were a few more "she said, he said's" than I can overlook.

All in all, one of the best romances I've listened to of Roxie's works.
Two Thumbs Up!

    "Great Second Chance Romance"
    Any additional comments?

This is Book 5 in the Pass To Win series and is a standalone. Chris and Natalie were together briefly but Natalie's father put an end to their relationship. Five years later, Chris is now an NFL player with a bad reputation and Natalie is now a mother - of his child. When they meet again, will they finally get their happily ever after or will circumstances once again stand in their way?

Game Winning Catch was a quick and enjoyable listen and I love the second chance romance trope. Sometimes it takes time, maturity and a new perspective to make things work out in the end. Aundrea Mitchell is one of my favorite female narrators, with an immediately recognizable voice and narrative style. For me, Game Winning Catch was a winning experience and I would recommend it.

I was voluntarily provided this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator. This review is my honest opinion.

I got the book via audiobook boom. The story centered around a quarterback who partied too much and was fired but landed on his feet with another team. He Mets and produces a baby by his heroes daughter. Five years later they meet again and he discovers his child and love for the mother. They marry and have their HEA.

    "A sweet feel good story"

Chris and Natalie are so sweet together, and their little boy Michael is gorgeous.

There are lots of issues that come up that cause problems for them and just as everything is going well something comes up. A few time I found myself thinking 'no don't...' but the characters weren't listening.

It's nice to see a relationship where both people go after their career goals and support each other rather than one putting their career on the back burner so the other can succeed.

Aundrea has a very distinctive narration style, I recognized her withing minutes of the book starting. I've always enjoyed her narration and this book is no different. I like the pacing and the smooth delivery. The character voices are well done I like her male voices, and I'm impressed with how well the male POV sections work.

This book was supplied free by the author/narrator/publisher and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.

    Story
    "Second chance sweet baby romance"
What did you love best about Game Winning Catch?

It was sweet, and upbeat for majority of it, and a quick listen for those who have limited time.

What did you like best about this story?

The characters were true to themselves during every stage the progressed through.

Have you listened to any of Aundrea Mitchell’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Aundrea is a very enthusiastic and upbeat performer. It makes the story feel bubbly, however at time it can feel like it is paced too quickly and rushed. Sometimes you want to hear the pause in speech, or delay to show the characters hesitation in the scene. Bubbly and enthusiasm are great, and the performance was good, but isn't always how real people talk everyday.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I enjoyed the declaration of love, the gift at the end, and the bonding for father/son.

    Any additional comments?

This is a more light hearted listen, if you are more inclined to listen to books that have a strong character building moment, or crucial dilemma, than this book may not be for you. However if you enjoy a light, sweet, and simply quick story, that doesn't require in depth thought and gut wrenching emotion this is a great one to grab. It is what I would call a palette cleanser, for a break after reading a heavily emotionally drawing story. It's a pick me up listen. I was given this audiobook for free from the author, narrator, or publisher for my unbiased review.

I am not always keen on sports romances but I was impressed with this one. It is a well known fact that young men do not want to settle down. Another well known fact is that fathers having sown plenty of wild oats themselves shudder in horror when their daughter's start dating. If you take an innocent girl and add a baseball player you are going to get an earthquake of major proportions. In this story a father breaks up his daughter's relationship instead of letting it run its natural course. How everything finally works out makes a very good book that I enjoyed listening to very much. Well written and beautifully read, well worth reading.
