Publisher's summary

She was unquestionably a lady. Still, that had never stopped him before. He could see that she was not, he thought, that young. Even better. Another twinge of pain from behind his eyes lent a harshness to his voice. "Who the devil are you?" In no way discomposed, she answered, "My name is Caroline Twinning. And if you really are the Duke of Twyford, then I'm very much afraid I'm your ward...."

Max Rotherbridge couldn't believe it. Along with the dukedom of Twyford, he - London's most notorious rogue - had inherited wardship of four devilishly attractive sisters! Including the irresistible Caroline Twinning. The eldest Twinning was everything he had ever wanted in a woman, but even Max couldn't seduce his own ward...or could he? After all, he did have a substantial reputation to protect. And what better challenge than the one woman capable of stealing his heart?

Fun read

As one of her earlier works, this one is pretty simple but it doesn’t pretend to be otherwise. I didn’t get hung up on the morality of some of the characters’ wanting to offer a carte blanche rather than marriage, because ultimately these women got what they wanted. Lighthearted escape, don’t expect more and you won’t be disappointed.

boring

I have read her books before, and they are usually not at all boring. But this audio book is SO dull. I suspect the narrator has something to do with it. She talks slowly, with an English accent of some sort. Also, the story line bounces between the 4 sisters, and they were partnered up with their respective beaus early on, so there's no suspense. I may not make it the whole way through this one.

This is a easy review....

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE This book!!!
Loved the performance by Ashford McNab.
Loved the characters.
Loved all the story lines.
Loved the endings!

If you like Stephanie Laurens, if you like historical romance and happily ever afters... Then you will love it too!

CREDITWORTHY : YES!

HEAT FACTOR: Surprisingly low... not much sex to speak of but a good deal of prelude. Nothing explicit. But still verrrrry good!

I enjoyed the performance. I wasn't let down!

I enjoyed the performance. I wasn't let down! This book is one that I go back and reread often. So I was a little nervous about listening to it. I'll be re-listening to this book too!

Nice easy read

What did you love best about Four in Hand?

I liked that it was a nice lovely story without all the endless explicit sex that Laurens usually has that gets old and boring after awhile.

Have you listened to any of Ashford MacNab’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Ashford MacNab is one of my favorite narrators.

Any additional comments?

Sometimes I want a light and entertaining story that is not so intense, and that I can sit back and listen and enjoy, and this fit the bill.

Sweet, fun and an easy listen

I really enjoyed this book. I always check out a Stephanie Lauren’s book with trepidation. But while this book had the familiar trope of a rake hero (or rather, four of them), Ms. Laurens didn’t use any of her obnoxious, frequently used phrases (e.g. “her lungs seized”). This book also avoids explicit sex scenes, but has the fun plot and decent character development that make some of Ms. Laurens books worth the read. Enjoyed it immensely!

Very amusing

This story is very amusing. Although I would have personally liked the "romance" to be a bit more descriptive and steamy. The premise of a confirmed rake and bachelor being saddled with 4 beautiful wards is highly entertaining.
