Publisher's Summary

Forget everything you know about the world. Vampires exist, Werewolves exist, monsters hide in the shadows, and it's my job to make sure they obey our laws. My name is Evelyn, and I'm a gargoyle. The last one or so I thought. A team of Gargoyles have found me. And for the first time in over a century, I'm not the only one of my kind around, which is a good thing since demons are slipping into this world fully formed.

The bodies are piling up. Something is going on in my city, and it looks like I'm going to need the backup.

Definately recommend!

I rate alot of books but not many get my lazy butt to actually write praise! Evie is a heroine I can get behind in every way. Its been awhile since Ive been so happy with the female lead. I absolutely adore how she is so badass and strong, as well as scholarly smart and independent. Although who wouldn't be after 100 years of youth, am I right!? She's no whiner, she isn't faint of heart and thank you thank you..she doesn't overthink every tiny thing, she knows what she wants and commits to her choices come what may. No over the top phyco mental babble here!! yay! Go Evie! I haven't finished the book yet, but was excited to share.

Ummm Yes!

Yes! What s great start to a new series! I now must go find more of her stuff because I need a distraction from the fact that I can’t read more of this one!

Congratulations to both the author, narrators, and you the reader!

Love this story - can’t wait for more!

I’ll be honest, I read this book on kindle when it first released. I love this author, and I love this series. The plot is unique and I enjoy the characters.

I have one complaint; I may be a bit of an audiophile like Lexie (per her definition). I can’t listen to the male actor’s voice for Zahur without hearing Voldemort from the HP movies.

Not a huge deal, because there’s not a ton from his POV, and I’m probably just a crazy person, but I struggled a bit with just that one thing.

Overall, I loved it!

GREAT start to new series!

I never thought I would get into books about gargoyles. Leave it to B.L. Brunnemer to show me the light. cant wait to see how the story develops.

Love the book, not so much the narrators

I love Blt's writing and reading the books but both series (the veil diaries and book of stone) have narrators that I just can't get behind. I listened all the way through but I was tempted to stop because the voices were driving me nuts. The male and female narrators in this book used different voices for the characters. The male made Zahur sound like a crotchety old man. While the female narrator made him soundyoung and sophisticated. And there were some names and words that weren't pronounced correctly.

BL... try Nicole Poole!

Love the story!

...but Antony's voice for Zahur took some getting used to. I'm looking forward to the next book!

I'm Glad I Tried it

I stumbled across this book while browsing bestsellers. I'd never heard of the author, but I love paranormals and after listening to the sample and reading a few reviews, decided to take a chance. I'm glad I did. This was a great book. Love the heroine, the hero, and the whole gargoyle crew. The blend of supernatural creatures set in city of Chicago was great. I like how each chapter revealed a little more about the heroine. And of course, there's kick butt action as well. My only complaint is I want to listen to book 2 now and there's no indication on the author's website if it's in the works, and if it is, what the potential release date is.
