Publisher's summary

Taken captive, experimented on, and rescued by a mysterious bounty hunter...all things Zula, The Pittsburgh's second-in command, didn't have on her to-do list. She isn't worried though. After all, as a Galvraron, she has her superior logic to rely on. At least she did....

Suddenly Zula finds her cognitive skills compromised by a device that puts her emotions in control, turning her entire world upside down. Add in the fact that she's forced to spend time with a man from her past, and soon Zula finds herself wondering: How does one fight adversaries such as love and lust? And does she really want to?

Very engaging audio story

Was very easy to relate to as I have a strong-willed wife of 29 years. I spent much time laughing as I was relating to most all of the verbal banter, and was glad to see that the relationship between the two main characters clearly showed that they both had to “give ground” in order to make progress in their union.

Pleasantly surprised!

I didn't realize this was a romance until I started it. The description made me think more like sci-fi action book which it is! That's what made this book great. It had all the action, suspense and plot elements I enjoy in a book. It also had the love story. I wasn't so much into that part but together it was fun.

The author did an fantastic job reeling me in. Zula is from an alien race that values and uses logic and intelligence over emotions or anything else. She's taken by a bounty hunter whose a dragon hybrid and together they set out for a wild journey. She's implanted with a device that promotes emotion and falls for the bounty hunter but what happens when the device is removed, will she still care for him? My mouth is zipped.

The conversations between the two are hilarious and so are the descriptions and Zula's thought process. This is the first book I've listened to by this author and I was impressed. I always enjoy finding new authors.

I give extra kudos because I haven't listened to the first 2 books in the series yet I wasn't lost. Anyone who loves character driven stories with a great plot and a little fantasy/ sci-fi would enjoy this story.

Totally fun series!

I love this series! This is another great addition to this series! Fun and entertaining! The romance is sweet, and I loved the connection between Zula and Kane. I love the sci-fi aspects, and getting to know more about different types of aliens. I'd recommend reading the previous books before this one because it features characters from the previous books, and it adds to the enjoyment!

I listened to the audio book for each of the books in this series, and overall, I enjoy the narration, but after listening to the previous 2 books with the same narrator, the characters blend together a bit. The same inflections, same speech patterns, so even though all the female characters are different in personality, it doesn't come across in their speech. I also wish there was a wider variety of emotion to her performance, all the characters seem as if they are being sarcastic all the time. During the parts where the events are rather dire, or felt more heartfelt, I would've liked for there to be a more emotional tone to the narration. Overall though, she did a good job and I do enjoy the audio experience.

This book picks up where the last left off, Zula has been taken to be tested on. Zula is a Galvraron, which is a very intelligent species, but also emotionally closed off. Zula is a bit different than the normal Galvrarons, she's not quite as closed off as the rest of the Galvrarons, but still shows restraint on her emotions. The beings who have taken Zula have put a device on her neck that makes her feel emotions deeper, so she's not quite herself. Luckily for Zula, she is rescued by bounty hunter, Kane. These 2 have some hot chemistry, but Zula thinks her desire for Kane is only because of the device on her neck. Kane has some of his own things going on, so these 2 aren't quite sure what to make of how they feel. Let the adventure ensue!

Loved seeing more of the starship gang! Lots of fun action! Unique and Interesting, and I'm really looking forward to the next book!

Awesome!

Well, I never . . . I am so glad there's another book to this series, because I am totally bugged and need to know more. This series has grown on me. Zula is often mentioned in the previous books. It's nice to see she gets a story told, too. Especially since she was "kidnapped", we can finally see what happened to her. Kade is . . . I totally fainted.

Okay, maybe I didn't faint, but you get my drift. I like the narration better this time around. Ashley Holt did an amazing job voicing the characters. Audio was smooth and clear. Story fantastic. I hope there will be audio for the next book, because I totally want/NEED it. LOL

Will She or Won't She?

Zula is the third character to be the focus of a book in the Starblind series and I like her and her story best of all. Zula is kind of a female version of Mr. Spock, coming from a race that dismisses emotions, always behaving with logic. Having been kidnapped by a bounty hunter, she becomes the subject of experimentation culminating with an implant that causes her to feel for the first time in her life.

This juxtaposition of logic and emotion forms the basis of a funny, alarming, raucous story and the conflict is most obvious when Zula begins to fall for Kade, something that would not, could not have happened when she had total control of her mind and heart. Will she still have these feelings for him once the implant is removed? I’m not telling 😉

Yep, just like the first 2

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

The sound quality in this book, like with the first two, had a slight echo to it that was very distracting. Her pace and tone, otherwise were ok, though she occasionally had odd pauses. Ultimately, I got used to it after a few minutes of listening. As this is book 3, I credit that to my having just listened to the first 2. Again, this book had the same humor as the others, but still focuses more on the sex than the sci fi. This is definitely this author's style. I don't mind usually mind series that have strong romance novel relationship stuff (and some sex) but only if they focus as much or more on the paranormal/fantasy/sci fi aspects of the world they are building. For me, this author focuses more on the sex and relationships than actual world building. I powered through the 3 current stories because I got them free and agreed to write reviews for them. Had I not gotten them free, I don't believe I would have moved on from book 1. But hey, if you like stories with tons of graphic sex and relationship stuff, then you should definitely pick this series up, you won't be disappointed.

Sexy Sci-Fi Romance

Flux is Book 3 in the Starblind Series and can be enjoyed as a standalone. Zula, a Galvraron, relies on logic and intellect. When she is captured and implanted with a device that forces emotions to the surface, her logical mind is crippled. She is rescued by a man that she realizes isn't a stranger. When lust turns to love, will she still feel the same way when the device is removed?

This is a fun series that revolves around the women aboard the Pittsburgh, a starship. Each story focuses on a different woman and her journey to love. There is also a side story involving the ruling race's attempts to wipe out races that it deems inferior and the effort to stop them. The narration was well done except for the echo-like noise in the background. I don't hold that against the narrator as it was probably a technical issue. I have enjoyed all three audiobooks in the series and would recommend it.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. This review is my honest opinion.

Great series!

LOVE this series! An amazing cast of characters and good doses of humor and romance make for a fantastic sci-fi adventure. This is Zula’s story and she and Kade have quite the adventure. Be sure to listen in order as each book follows the previous one, the story continues and all of the main cast reappear at some point. Excellent narrator, she has done all of the books in the series so far and has done an amazing job.
