A race for survival...

Turns into a pulse-pounding adventure...

Gorgeous Black Ops bad boy Raphael Mendoza always feared his family's dark history would haunt him. But he never expected it might hold the key to dismantling a rogue weapons system. Now with cool B. J. Chase posing as his hot babe fiancée, he returns to his uncle in Colombia to convince him he can be trusted with the family's dirtiest business secrets.

And ignites a passionate fire.

Carrying out a deception among ruthless killers brings Rafe and B.J. too close to ignore the smoldering heat between them. Now, they must work together as the closest of partners as the countdown to international catastrophe closes in.

Ok. Narration is mediocre.

Story was pretty standard for Cindy Gerard. If you like her other books, you’ll probably like this one.

My issue was with the Spanish narration. The pronunciation of words and the Colombian accent were mediocre at best. They should hire a Spanish speaking narrator (or someone who at least knows some Spanish) for books with this much Spanish and heavy accents. While the narrator tried their best, they mispronounced words and their Colombian accent (in English and Spanish) was off.

Great story but the narration…

I love this series, but it was so hard to get through this book. The narrator reads every character totally differently than in prior books, and Stephanie in particular sounds like a bimbo who got lost on her way out of Minnesota. I had to fast-forward through her chapters. (Shudder)

I love me a strong woman…

Good story in the suspenseful romance series of Black Ops. BJ is a kickass agent who tangles with swoony Rafael. Not sure the undercover acts would all go off like this in real life, but the plot is a good nail biter. I liked the narration by Shannon Gunn - Especially the accented voice of Rafael- but a few voices were “off key” (Stephanie, Anne) and the sex scenes were a bit too dramatic. Overall a solid 4.

I love the narration!

I have to be honest, I'm bias when it comes to Shannon's narrations, he's my favorite narrator and in my opinion he can read the dictionary and I will be very happy. The story itself is not remarkable, nothing I haven't read before, but Shannon made it very fun and enjoyable, especially with so many characters that he had to portray I don't know how he can make so many distinguishable voices, but he's a master at that!

Loved Raphael, BJ not so much

We see Raphael finally get his chance at romance with another agent from another Government agency. She is a tough cookie, which I like. However, her "love doesn't exist" and "I will never let anyone near me so I don't get hurt", mantra get OLD FAST. I see having it due to her circumstances but it goes on FAR to long in the book. It's annoying and makes me almost not like her, as well as for Raphael move on to someone who WILL love and appreciate him. Full of action and excitement! Excellent narration.

I loved the story

Again, another great book! I felt for BJ. I can relate to her, not from my childhood but from my children’s childhood dealing with a parent with addiction. I felt for Rife for his family. I couldn’t imagine what that would be like. I’m glad his aunt did what she did.
