Excellent

The combination of the Washington political scene, hunt for a vicious killer and developing personal relationships provides a multi level story which holds one's interest. It may be helpful to listen to the two preceding books since they provide background which supports this book...or consider just the last one Fatal Justice as a start. Each book adds to the richness and complexity of the main characters ...and each gets better and better.

Each book is better than the last!

The third installment in the series, this book is intense as Lt. Samantha Holland goes after the best kept secret in D.C., a high level prostitution ring.

Love this series and I'm anxious to read the next installment.

Too much romance

No suspense and too little action. This is a romance novel. Besides it is difficult to follow the story. what little there is of a story.

A lighter version of the In Death Series

It took me awhile to get into the book because it reminded me so much of J. D. Robb's In Death series. The book itself is a good book and if you have never read Robb's series it is actual a very good book. I had difficulties mainly because I kept seeing parallels between Force's characters and Robb's characters.

My take away is this - if you have read more than two of Robb's In Death books, you will have a hard time enjoying this series - if you have never read one of the In Death books, this is a good cop drama series.

Couldn't stand it

Perhaps I have been overly influenced by reading Michael Connelly's Harry Bosch series of detective stories, but I found this book to be almost laughable. The narrator's youthful, eager voice, while very pleasant, sounds completely wrong for a police lieutenant, and the dialogue is so sanitized (there is never a lapse into profanity - even the supposedly hardened police detectives say "what the heck") I just could not take this book seriously. As others have said, this is more a romance story than a police procedural, so if that is what you are after and you prefer an airbrushed version of life as a police officer and a politician (and there is nothing wrong with that), then this book is for you. As for me, I could not be bothered to finish it.

Great story

Would you listen to Fatal Consequences again? Why?

No...the narrarator sounded like she either had a cold or something stuffed up her nose. I suggest just buying the book.

What did you like best about this story?

The story was very well written. I love the dynamics between the characters and the compelling story line.

Would you be willing to try another one of Eva Kaminsky’s performances?

No...

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I wanted to turn it off and read the book.

Another Great Installment

This is the third installment of the fatal series about Samantha (Sam) Holland. I loved the book. Great writing and timing. Sam is a too tough police lieutenant who, with her team, sets out to solve the mystery of brutally slain immigrant women. The Washington DC political intrigue is again featured in the book and Sam's senator fiancé Nick is as dashing as ever. This is gritty, thriller with a couple of really good side stories about her coworkers. I have gotten to know these characters and look forward to see what is next in their lives.

Characters starting to feel like family

I love the "Fatal" series by Marie Force. Each book builds on the one before. After just three books, I'm starting to feel like I know these characters. They have such separate and unique personalities. I often find myself smiling or laughing while I'm listening to the audiobooks in the series. My one disappointment is this narrator. I much prefer the other narrator they've used (Felicity Monroe). Sadly, this made the book less enjoyable to listen to. I'm disappointed that Ms. Kaminsky seems to have narrated many of the books in the series.

Revisit

I have read all of the Fatal books by Marie Force. The new one - Fatal Identity- has just been released.
I decided to revisit the characters and story lines by listening to the books on audible.

Ok story. Careless prose

I try not to be too rigid of a grammarian, but there were enough careless mistakes in the writing of this novel, it was clear that no one had taken the time to edit it properly. This distracted me regularly from the story line.
The story is fairly gripping, but be warned that there are some disturbing subjects touched on including rape and miscarriage.

Keeps getting better and better

Book 3 in the Fatal series. These just keep getting better, if that is even possible.
Suspense, mystery, romance, camaraderie, humor. It's got it all. It's great how the side characters are developed further and get their own stories. Listening to this series always leaves me feeling warm and fuzzy.
Brilliant narration by Eva Kaminsky.
