Not a light romantic read. Much more

Very hard to put down this lengthy recorded book. Never felt like it had any filler, every scene or event important. The romance was actually a smaller part of it. The heroes struggle to seek justice was the overriding impetus. Though the hard won HEA was awesome as well. Definitely worth the time and using a credit.

A Sacrament taken too lightly—partial spoiler

A main fairly sympathetically portrayed main character pretends to be a Catholic priest tricks another character into literally going to confession to hm. I’ve seen this portrayed in movies etc where it happens accidentally or an fully evil character does it. But this character absolutely premeditates it—gets training on what to say and has a friend waylay the real Priest. This is a desecration to me and taken way too lightly by the author. My first book from this author. I won’t seek her out again.

Sandra Brown is great!

All of Sandra Brown’s books are exciting with many twists, turns, tense moments. One never knows what will happen next or the final outcome in her thrillers. The narration for each of her books I’ve listened to really builds up the listeners tension and excitement making the listener feel she/he is present

Good book

Good book. Narrator was good. Romance in the story was a bit neglected. It was not fully developed. Overall story was gripping and kept you wanting to hear more.

Just OK

An abridged version of this would be terrific. I found myself thinking "get on with it" or "who cares" so often in this book that it really dulled the enjoyment of it.

Held my interest!

Enjoyed the characters and the story. Mystery romance.. Without being too explicit with either. Mr Garrett made it easy to listen and this book will be listened to more than once.

More of a Mystery than a Romance

Sandra Brown is one of my favorite authors, I love her romances because they mix her amazing ability to create mystery with sexual relationships. Fat Tuesday is not what I would call a romance. There is one real love scene and it is at the end of the book. However, the mystery is worthy of the Sandra Brown name. It does get a little slow from the middle to the last 3/4 of the book but the ending is filled with twists and turns. I enjoyed listening to the story but, I don't think it will be one that I listen to multiple times such as her books Envy or Breath of Scandal.

Could not stop listening

Where does Fat Tuesday rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

at the top. I was hooked from the beginning

What other book might you compare Fat Tuesday to and why?

I really can't compare it to anything. It's a great book, the story gets you from the beginning and keep you interested. The ending is something you don't see coming ang doesn't let you down.

Have you listened to any of Jack Garrett’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is the first I've heard of his. He nailed every accent.

Mystery with a Bit of Romance

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

It was not a waste of a credit, but it was predictable and a bit overdone. There was a serious case of Stockholm syndrome that made the book unbelievable for me. I finished the book without fast forwarding, but I'm not likely to re-listen.

What about Jack Garrett’s performance did you like?

The narrator's ability to distinguish between characters was solid. I often dislike male narrators' interpretations of women's voices, but I didn't have that problem in this case. My luke-warm feelings about the book have nothing to do with the narration.
