Publisher's Summary

For Francesca Day, it's not the end of her world, but close to it. She's London-bred, wealthy, and sophisticated, but fate leaves her flat broke and stranded on a back road in Texas. Now she's got to deal with reality without her rich girl props. How can she do it?

In Dallas Beaudine, gritty and handsome, lies the answer. He stops his car to help Francesca, whose life needs a tune-up, as well as her car. Stopping could lead to the biggest mistake, or best time, ever.

12 step program please. I am addicted to Audible! I love trashy sexy books, award winning novels and everything between. Bring it!

    "Anna Fields increases the rating"
Would you try another book from Susan Elizabeth Phillips and/or Anna Fields?

Yes, I've listened to several SEP books and I always enjoy them. This book is no exception. I liked it enough, I just didn't love it. In other words, I wasn't using every free second I had to finish it. I think I slept through a bit of it and didn't bother to rewind because I knew I had not missed any crucial developments. It was an OK listen.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

The characters are all selfish and one dimensional. They have some minor redeeming qualities but overall I didn't care for either main character.

    Any additional comments?

I listened to Simply Irresistible some time ago which i believe is the last SEP book to this series and I loved that book. It followed grown up Ted's life. I wanted to read Fancy Pants because of that book. So I did, and now I've satisfied a minor curiosity.

    "An awesome love story"

SEP and Anna Fields are an awesome combination. I thought this book was really great. I enjoyed the story of Dally and Francesca. It drug on a bit at times, to the point where I was like, GET TOGETHER ALREADY!! But as always, SEP does not disappoint.

"So slow I gave up and quit listening"

I really loved Susan Elizabeth Phillips' Chicago Stars series, so I wanted to start the Wynette, Texas series from the beginning. This book was so slow getting to the story that I gave up and stopped listening. Audible graciously refunded my money.

    "Extremely annoying characters"

This was a complete waste of a credit. If I had to hear the name "Dally" one more time I might have trashed my ipod. Don't waste your time.

    "Not her best"

Sooooo long. A bit boring. I only finished because I didn't want to waste my credit. I didn't care about the characters at all.

But otherwise was a pleasant read. I read 'heroes are my weakness' first which I liked better, however I'm going to read another of her books because I like a grounded romance.

"I actually looked forward to my commute!"
What made the experience of listening to Fancy Pants the most enjoyable?

Even though Francesca is not your typical romantic heroine, I really grew to care about her as the story progressed. Great character development. I looked forward to my commute so that I could listen to what would happen next in the story.

    "Absolutely horrible!"
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Don't think anyone would really enjoy this book.

What could Susan Elizabeth Phillips have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Make the main character more likeable.

Would you be willing to try another one of Anna Fields’s performances?

Not really. Accents were bad and hard to listen to.

    "Don't do it!"
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

If you are obsessed w/ the history of the characters.

What was most disappointing about Susan Elizabeth Phillips’s story?

It is difficult to believe that the author of

Have you listened to any of Anna Fields’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Anna Field's narration is the perfect example of how an awesome narrator can only marginally help an awful book. Ocassionally a great narrator can really save a so-so book. But even Ms. Field couldn't pull this loser out of the mire.

What character would you cut from Fancy Pants?

Characters weren't the problem. It was the depressing aspect of the story that did it - no one is that dumb. Maybe SEP was having real life problems and delt them by venting in the book. Good therapy just not a good read.

    Any additional comments?

I drive two hours every day to work so I listen to a lot of books. Every other SEP book I've read thus far has been an upbeat, entertaining experience -
