Publisher's Summary

Reformed art forger Tilda Goodnight reluctantly joins forces with semi-reformed con man Davy Dempsey. They want to steal a dubious painting and several million embezzled dollars from a lethal widow named Clea, who has targeted a mild-mannered art collector as her next dearly departed. Complications include her sister, the female impersonator; his best friend, the reformed cat burglar; a recidivist embezzler named Rabbit; a hit man; some lousy sex; and a juke box. Trouble ensues....

"Cruise's fifth novel is an entertaining, fast-paced romp with a pleasing love story at its heart." (Booklist)
"Aasne Vigesaa....spices up the story with a brashness that works for this novel filled with odd characters and amusing plots." (AudioFile)

Good escapist listening

What made the experience of listening to Faking It the most enjoyable?

It was well written. The plot was clever. It was not silly like some books of this genre. It is not a heavy literary experience, but that is not what I wanted. It lightened my mood. Good escapist listening.

What does Aasne Vigesaa bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She adds an additional dimension to the reading experience. I appreciate her talent.

I enjoyed Faking It although it was not my favorite Crusie book. The narration did not take away from the story. The characters are definitely different. If you are looking for a light, easy summer listen this will foot the bill.

Light Read

Frothy, light, listen. Not much character development and an unbelievable plot.

Loved this book!!!

I enjoyed Welcome to Temptation so much that I got Faking It. To me this was better than WTT. The ending was the best. The closet scene was so funny I laughed until I cried tears. I loved all the characters and wish there was another so I could revisit them. Jennifer Crusie has an excellent mix of love, romance and humor in her books. I will listen to this one many times. A couple of people said they didn't like the narrator but I thought she was great.

Faking It stands on it's own you (even though it is a sequil) Some books you have to read/listen in order but this one you don't. You will fall in love with Davey and Tillda. Now, if she could just let us know how Simon & Eve and Gwen & Thomas turn out I would be happy! More please!!

Well Faked

The dialog is witty, funny, and charming. Davy was wonderful and so was the entire crazy family with whom he and his friends became involved. If you just want to laugh and smile the whole time you are listening to a story or if you need to be cheered up. Purchase this audio book, its histerical. There was a good twist at the end.

Sequel to Welcome To Temptation

I LOVED Welcome To Temptation and have listened to it numerous times so had high hopes for Faking It but it disappointed me in that the narrator doesn't make any of the characters from WTT that appear in this book sound anything like they did originally so it was like they had never existed. I had very high expectations which is my own fault but it really made a big difference to me, otherwise it's JC's usual zany and kooky characters but I really wanted Davy to sound like the Davy I knew from WTT.

Although I enjoyed Anyone But You and Bet Me, this book was very disappointing. If this had been the first book I listened to, I would have never listened to another one... Not worth your money or your credit!
