A different kind of love story

This was a great romantic story about a woman who believes she has nothing left to live for and the man who shows her that she can have everything she ever wanted. Harlow James is a world renowned transplant surgeon from New York. She finds herself in an organic desolate airship in the outskirts of New Mexico after losing her job and her husband. She meets Dax the much younger owner of the Pearl, the place she has rented out and he offers to show her around his hometown.

They form a close bond over the week, however they are both keeping secrets from one another and when the truth is revealed, the fallout may just be too much for them to handle. I loved this older woman, younger man dynamic, the dual POV gave a great transission into the feelings of both Dax and Harlow and there was a lot of emotional heartache faced that gave the story so much depth. I found this to be a thoroughly enjoyable read.

Excellent book

Love, love, love Liz Durano's writings. This story even brought tears to my eyes several times. I read it first, and now I've listened to it. So worth my time.

Melissa Moran and Joe Hempel were good narrators. Melissa has such a smooth voice. They did an excellent job.

Everything She Ever Wanted

I really enjoyed this older woman, younger man romance. It pulled me in from the beginning and I didn't want to stop listening. Harlow and Dax were perfect together. Despite being a well-known, world class transplant surgeon Harlow seemed a little naive and sheltered, especially when it came to relationships. Her soon-to-be ex-husband was a jerk and had treated her like crap. He made her believe problems in their relationship were all her fault. Dax was a breath of fresh air. He wanted to get to know her and he believed in her. Their relationship was not without struggles though. Poor communication and secrets became a threat to their happiness. I loved them so much and couldn't help cheering for them to make it. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. The story does have some topics that could be possible trigger topics for some, including infertility and talk of suicide.

I thought both narrators did an excellent job. I had never listened to anything by either of them before but will definitely be looking to listen to more of their work. Ms. Moran and Mr. Hempel had voices that were easy to listen to and fit both characters. I thought both also did great when narrating characters of the opposite sex. The voices were believable and added to the overall enjoyment of listening to the story.

Harlow and Dax were awesome!!!

Harlow is an accomplished transplant surgeon however she and her husband are having trouble conceiving a child. When there last attempt results in the stillborn death of her son her husband starts divorce proceedings and ensures that she is fired from her position. At her breaking point she ends up on a road trip and ends up at The Pearl where her life is forever changed.

Dax is the much younger sexy successful craftsman who is renting The Pearl to her. Although his first encounter with her makes him privy to information that she doesn’t know, they do become friends and then more. He infiltrates the barriers she has built around her heart but when she must return to face the nightmare her life has become she knows that their relationship could damage the business he has worked so hard for she ends things. Will they be able to find their way back to each other?
i loved the build of the story and definitely recommend this as a good listen.

Beautiful story

Loved listening to this! A beautiful story of love, loss, and acceptance. I enjoyed following Harlow and Dax’s relationship through its ups and downs, the dual view points were fantastic. Both narrators were amazing and made the listening experience very enjoyable, both have very pleasant voices to listen to. Highly recommend giving this book a listen! A Powerful & Poignant Romance

I thought that this read was very moving and emotional. This book's story line quickly pulled me in. It is an older woman/younger man romance that is made up of powerful emotions, drama, passion, heartache, angst, humor and romance. This is a book that very firmly has its feet planted in reality. That is what makes these characters and their story so engaging and enjoyable. Harlow and Dax are two very different people that are very different stages of their lives. These facts do not stop their immediate attraction to each other though. Harlow, I think will resonate with so many readers, for one reason or another. From her painful childhood, her burning need to succeed to be worthy, her struggle with fertility, her terrible marriage and husband and the horrible insecurities and guilt she feels over it all ring true and are so very common for so many of us. Dax was a really good guy. He had a bit of baggage from his past but for the most part he had his head on straight. Together I thought these two made a great couple. I thought that they both brought something into the relationship that made them more as a couple than they were singularly. I really enjoyed it. This is my sincere, impartial review.
