Publisher's Summary

Ian Buchanan has always felt the unknown--the deep, impenetrable darkness that lives within him. Yet he is determined to lead a "normal" life, ignoring the unsettling dreams in which he succumbs to his wildest desires.... Until psychic Molly Stratton tracks him down, claiming to share his sensual nightmares.

The petite Molly even has the bite marks to prove it. And she's also received a message from Ian's deceased mother: an enemy is near. And it's time for the creature inside Ian to finally awaken. A creature with an insatiable hunger that must be controlled before it overtakes them both.

Great story!

I really liked the author's style. I look forward to the next book. However the narrator was not good! If not for the poor narration, I would have given this book 5 stars.

Hot Paranormal/Erotic Romance

A good start to a new series. Molly was a likeable heroine, sweet yet strong when she needed to be. Ian's struggle with his destiny went on just a bit too long for my taste. But all in all a good story. The world Ms. Byrd created was interesting and I'll read more in this series. If you like your romance filled with emotion and intense passion, you should enjoy this book.

Good Writing - Bad Narration

This is an interesting book with great sexual interactions, an elusive bad guy and a tasty end. Unfortunately the narrator ruins this book. While I am sure she would be great for reading children's novels, her intonations and voices are way off and sometimes just creepy for a sexy paranormal romance. I will read the rest of this series in paperback...

A twist on the typical paranormal book

There characters were solid but it took a while for the story to build enough to understand where it was going. It also didn't follow the usual paranormal format and changes the rules of the game, so you need to pay attention so that you understand how this world works. Overall I liked the characters. However, I didn't like the performance at all. She didn't differentiate between characters very well and her accents were horrible. Was it bad enough to stop listening - nope. I jumped straight into the 2nd book!

I like paranormal romance (JR Ward, Lora Leigh, Richelle Mead, etc.), but this didn't have enough storyline and I never fully believed the chemistry between the two main characters. Perhaps that is partly because the "instant chemistry" is there in the first 3 minutes of the story, before we even know the characters and care about them, and also because he is being so mean to her. I like a rough male character, but he came off as too much of a jerk to me throughout the entire story so that I felt bad for her continuing to hang around him yearning for his affection/touch. Also, please, please use another word than rasped when male characters speak! There was so many "he rasped" in the dialogue that I started rolling my eyes, wishing for the author to use a thesaurus and pick some other verbs.

Good Intro

Good introduction to the series. I have to say Ian has a sylor's mouth. So if you are sensative to language be prepared.

A good story

I enjoyed this story enough that I will read more of Ms. Byrd's stories. I'm not sure I can take more of the same narrator though. She wasn't bad enough to make me not listen thru the entire book, but she was pretty bad. She reads slowly and enunciates precisely like she's reading to low IQ, ESL people. If you can get past that, the story is fine.
I agree that it seemed to take Ian a little too long and he resisted his fate too much, but that was tolerable in the end. I look forward to seeing what happens in the rest of the stories.

Oh, the language!!!!

Couldn't get past the crudeness. There wasn't much romance for the language and the rudeness...couldn't even finish the book

Worst Narrator Ever!!!

That says it. The story was OK, but this narrator RUINED the book. I tried the second and it was also so badly narrated that I am giving up and will not continue the series. Too bad there isn't a separate rating for narrator. She would get -5 stars.

Little plot to keep the story going

I did know that this would be a "romance", but the descriptive nature of the story became totally boring very fast. Every glance and touch is heavily described in detail. Even the love scenes became dull and repetitive. I would fast forward just to get to some plot movement. The trick to romantic thrillers is that there is fast plot development with interspersed love scenes. The entire first half was basically the 2 main characters having erotic dreams, then rehashing those dreams in waking hours. This had potential, but very boring.
