Publisher's summary

Ever since photographer Lacy Maguire caught her ex playing Pin the Secretary to the Elevator Wall, she's been content with her dog, Fabio; her three cats; and a vow of chastity. But all of that changes when the reindeer-antlered Fabio drags in a very desperate on-the-run detective named Chase Kelly, and he decides to take refuge in Lacy's house - a house filled with twinkling lights and a decorated tree. (Okay, so it's February, but she has a broken heart to mend, a Christmas card shoot to do, and a six-times divorced, matchmaking mother to appease.) For the first time in a long time, Lacy reconsiders her vow - because Chase, wounded soul that he may be, would be an oh-so-delicious way of breaking it. But if she's going to do that, she'll have to keep them both alive and him out of jail....

Great story, bad narration

I enjoyed the story a great deal. It was fun, sexy, and a bit suspenseful. What I did not enjoy was the narration. It was frustrating to listen to Jennifer Woodward’s narration. Her inflection and tone changed from sentence to sentence, as did the voice of the characters. It took a few chapters just to get use to her voice. I’m glad I did, because the book was enjoyable. Good thing there’s a different narrator for the rest of the books or else I would have a hard decision about listening to them or not.

Fun book

First time reading this author. Good story, to my thinking, somewhat light hearted. Nice for a Sunday afternoon read.

Excellent, witty romance.

This book is wonderful. Great for fans of Lucy Score and Jennifer Crusie. Laugh out loud mystery with great characters and very hot romance.

shallow heroine

I have enjoyed this author's crime stories and romances, and although the crime storyline with the males in this story was engaging, I simply could not tolerate the female lead. I got about halfway through the story, but the single minded female was obsessed with sex and any time she was in the scene I simply could not respect her. she had no purpose in this story except to obsess about sex, and it was stale and didn't move the story along. when my irritation with her outlived my enjoyment of the crime story I simply couldnt endure the idiotic female any more. I hope the bad guy was caught, the officer in the hospital survived, and the heros went on to happy lives, but the hero deserved much better than the way this story was headed. I still enjoy the author, but perhaps this series is just not for me.

Lacked just about everything

Cheesy, silly with no redeeming features at all.
The characters were witless, The story fluffy and plain silly. If soft porn is your thing, maybe you might find the book of some interest but even the ‘love’ scenes lacked depth.
I just could not finish it.

Not my fave by this author.

I really like this author’s TALL HOT & TEXAN Series, but I wasn’t wowed by DD&D. Granted, there were many humorous and heartfelt romance moments, but I found this story a bit cheesy, even if charming.

Could it be because of the narration? The TALL HOT AND TEXAN SERIES is narrated by the flawless Courtney Patterson so I’ve been spoiled. Here, Jennifer Woodward’s performance was sometimes great, and other times stilted. I may continue with the series however, because this author’s TALL HOT AND TEXAN series was great, and book 2 in the DD&D series is narrated by someone else.

My advice: read the Kindle sample, and listen to the Audible sample to decide which one you’ll use, if any. As I’m charmed by this author’s characters, I’ll keep on going with the Audible versions.
