Publisher's Summary

Rex Braden is wealthy, hard-working, and fiercely loyal. Sweat at his brow, he works the family ranch by day, then kicks back at night with part time lovers who require nothing more than his physical presence a few times each week. But that was before. Before Jade Johnson, the daughter of the man his father has been feuding with for over 40 years, moves back into town.

After ditching a horrific relationship - and her veterinary practice in the process - Jade Johnson returns to the safety of her small hometown and finally finds her footing. That is...until her horse is injured and Rex Braden comes to her rescue. The last thing she needs is a bull-headed, too-handsome-for-his-own-good Braden complicating her life.

Despite the angry family history, sparks fly between Rex and Jade, and attitudes follow. Fifteen years of stifled, forbidden love stirs a surge of passion too strong for either to deny - and the rebel in each of them rears its powerful head. Loyalties are tested, and relationships are strained. Rex and Jade are about to find out if true love really can conquer all.

Awesome story!

I loved this book and the one before this. It had the right amount of sex scenes and regular relationship interactions. I will definitely read all the other books in the series.

Stories of the Bradens are not to be missed

AudioBook Review:
Stars: Overall 4 Narration 4 Story 4

Rex Braden knows that managing a ranch, while occupying much of his time, is not everything. He thinks he wants more, just defining that ‘more’ isn’t the easiest part of the decision. That is, until he runs into Jade, recently home after some drastic life events. Her family’s land borders the Braden’s property line, and the unexpected meeting with Rex due to an injured horse makes being home just a little more interesting.

But a family feud between the Bradens and Johnsons, over a reason that no-one can even remember, could be the monkey wrench in Rex’s plans, before he even gets a chance to make one. When you add in Jade’s ex who can’t take no for an answer, Rex’s horse Hope, who like all of the Bradens has her own way of thinking about things (perhaps not as the family would wish), the families and their own bluster as the ‘existence of the feud’ is more relevant than the actual reasons, or overcoming them…..

Rex and Jade are wonderful together, and their path to a romance, with or without family intervention, is perfectly paced and keeps listeners engaged Fast-paced dialogue, demonstrable connections and a wonderful horsey inset that adds humor and a sense of reality for anyone who has ever known a horse, the story just flies along.

Narration for this story is provided again by B.J. Harrison, who presents the characters, story and adds emotional context without getting in the way with overacting or dramatic vocal alterations to present unique voices for each character. The care in delivery, the staggered pacing and subtle tone changes that help provide character distinction and emotional impact are there. What I am finding is that I believe this book would have benefited from an additional narrative voice to provide contrast and auditory variance.

While each of these books work as a stand-alone title, the people, writing and stories of the Bradens are not to be missed.

I received an AudioBook copy of the title from the publisher for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

Are you ready for a great love story?

Destined for Love is another amazing story by Melissa Foster. Rex and Jade have fought their attraction for their entire adult life. A long running feud between their fathers have prevent them from finding true love in each other’s arms. But one faithful night that all changes and they can’t fight their feelings anymore. Together they find a way to mend the rift between their families and be together forever.

This is the fifth book in the Love In Bloom series. It is a great stand alone book but is even better if you read or listen in order. I have read all of Melissa’s book and I find listening to them adds a new level of understanding. Just a few things to keep in mind … Headphones are a must – the love scenes are HOT. Block out enough time to listen to the whole book – once you get started you won’t want to stop. And go ahead and make plans to read the rest of them. Melissa has a magically way of creating a book world so real that you are ready to jump in the car and move there.

4 Family Feuds + Their Star Crossed Lovers Stars

4 "Family Feuds and Their Star Crossed Lovers" Stars for the story and narration.

Destined for Love is perfect for lovers of the forbidden love trope, particularly Romeo & Juliet styled romances. Whether you have already fallen in love with the Bradens, are a fan of Western romances, or are just looking for a sweet, feel-good romance, Destined for Love is likely to appeal to a large audience of romance lovers. Moreover, BJ Harrison's smooth, tranquil voice makes this a good audiobook format choice for sitting back and relaxing to a heart-felt tale.

The hero of this story is Rex--Treat Braden's brother from book 1, Lovers at Heart. Rex is your good all-American cowboy who runs his family's ranch. He's the kind of guy who is an alpha hero and who you can count on both in terms of loyalty and protection. So imagine his conflict at the realization that the one woman who really ignites his feelings of love and desire is the one woman he cannot under any circumstances have because she is a Johnson, the family that borders his family's ranch and his family's sworn enemy due to a feud between the two family patriarchs.

Jade had always had a crush on Rex, but when she left town she never thought she would get a chance to explore her feelings for Rex given the family feud. Then several years later she returns. She now has a successful veterinarian practice and has lived through and moved on from a bad relationship, but still feels those same familiar stirrings when she sees Rex. And then Rex comes to her rescue, and they both feel those feelings stir, even if the same old family feud still stands in the way.

Will Jade and Rex get a real chance to explore their attraction to one another? Moreover, will they be the glue that finally finds resolution for the family feud between the Bradens and Johnsons or will the feud become an inconquerable obstacle to their love?

BJ Harrison has a melodic voice which pulls the listener in for a comfort listen. While Mr. Harrison doesn't have a huge range in his voices for characters, he does slightly vary his voice for each character. Additionally, he is able to impart emotion and empathy in the right parts of the story to add an additional element of feeling to the story.

All in all, Destined for Love is a good choice for any time that you're looking for a sweet, wholesome feel good romance with a good conflict subplot that will add to the intrigue and allure of the romance.

Love Story with a Twist

I love Rex and Jade. They have so much passion and heat and there is so much angst in all the things that should keep/tear them apart but they can't keep away from each other. I loved listening to this while I was working, at the gym, and doing homework to keep my mind happy and swooning while I was doing intense work, both physical and mental.

A Braden and a Johnson together? Wow.

This Braden book focuses on the relationship between Jade Johnson and Rex Braden. Their families are like the Hatfield and McCoys so they have avoided each other most of their lives while living on ranches next to each other. They have much to deal with as they realize they are meant for each other and must maneuver around an argument between their fathers they know nothing about. Melissa Foster's writing is praiseworthy. She weaves an intriguing and emotional story. The reading by BJ Harrison was flawless. His inflection and voices contributed to a positive audio experience. I highly recommend this audio book.

Love...as always!

Who was your favorite character and why?

I loved looking back at all my old favorites! But I'm seriously loving Dane Braden at the moment.

Have you listened to any of B.J. Harrison’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, all of the LiB books before this! Amazing, as always.

Any additional comments?

I love love love this story. It's sweet and SO HOT (as is expected with a Foster book). Sexy Rexy (as we call him in the Fan Club) does not disappoint. I've read the book, but going back to read the book has refreshed my love in the Love in Bloom series! It's so good and the audio only adds to an already wonderful story.

Sexy Rexy

What did you love best about Destined for Love?

Sexy Rexy......really nothing more needs to be said, but I will. You will fall in love with this cowboy. It's every cowboy fantasy I've ever had, just wish he was real.
Jade is a feisty force of nature. They are prefect for each other.
Their families have been feuding for years and it's forbidden for them to be together. Will their love win out or will their loyalty to their families. You will have to read or listen to find out. You won't regret it.
The narration by BJ is amazing as always. He has the perfect voice for this. His inflection is timed perfectly.

Which character – as performed by B.J. Harrison – was your favorite?

Hal. I love the head of the family.

Sexy Rexy + Jade = A win for Melissa Foster

Would you consider the audio edition of Destined for Love to be better than the print version?

Yes and no. I love creating my own images when reading the print version of a book, but I also enjoy the images invoked when listening to a book! Either way it is a great story!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Destined for Love?

Hal walking into the barn when Jade was working with Hope.

Have you listened to any of B.J. Harrison’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have listened to all of the previous Love in Bloom series books and have grown to truly enjoy B.J. He does a great job of differentiating voice between characters, despite being the single voice of all.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Even a family feud cannot defeat this attraction

A solid five-star listen/read.

I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audio-book by the author, narrator, or publisher.

Loyal to a fault, money to burn, handsome as all get out, and yet, one of the loneliest men you will ever know. Sexy Rexy is an understatement, but I love the nickname given to him by Jade Johnson’s best friend. This book is so good, I don’t even know where to start. I love how these books continually pull me into their world.

Rex Braden and Jade Johnson have been attracted to each other since they were kids, but a feud between their fathers has kept them apart for years. Jade eventually moved away to go to college and become a top notch vet, while Rex stayed behind on his family’s ranch in Colorado to help his widowed father run it. He never regretted his choice to honor his father’s wishes and stay away from ‘the Johnson girl’, until Jade returned home after a bad break-up and they discover their feelings for one another have been way more than puppy love all along.

Before long, it’s evident that ignoring each other is not an option. Neither of them know the exact circumstances of the feud between their families and neither of them wants to break their fathers’ hearts. They agree to date clandestinely until they can come up with a way to break through the barriers between the two families. The problem with this plan is that there are too many Bradens and they are all too smart, as well as the fact that Jade’s mother also knows her daughter very well. There’s a rough road ahead for Jade and Rex, and there is no smooth sailing for them.

Melissa Foster’s characters always draw me into their stories, but Rex and Jade literally tore their way into my heart. B.J. Harrison does an excellent job narrating, as always. I’m not sure what I will do if/when this series ends, these characters are all like family to me now. If you love Melissa’s writing, as I do, you will not want to miss this audio-book/book.

Rex and Jade smoking hot!!

Having read this book countless times it was great to hear it in audio book. The Love between Rec and Jade comes through powerfully as does the family feud. Definitely one to listen to as the emotions are so powerful.
