Publisher's summary

I own you. I have the piece of paper to prove it. It's undeniable and unbreakable. You belong to me until you've paid off your debts.

Nila Weaver's family is indebted. Being the first born daughter, her life is forfeit to the first born son of the Hawks to pay for sins of ancestors' past. The dark ages might have come and gone, but debts never leave. She has no choice in the matter.

She is no longer free.

Jethro Hawk receives Nila as an inheritance present on his 29th birthday. Her life is his until she's paid off a debt that's centuries old. He can do what he likes with her - nothing is out of bounds - she has to obey.

There are no rules. Only payments.

Great start of a series

Where does Debt Inheritance rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I would have to rank it among one of the top 5 books I read. Its dark but not as dark as Tillie Cole books. It has some gruesome parts but not some bloody that you can't listen/stomach it.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Man what a tough question to answer as there are so many facets to both Jet and Nila that I love. I would have to say Nila in this book as she learns to overcome her weaknesses and fears and learn to become herself. She starts off as a whiny brat and starts to learn who she really is as this book develops.

What about Will M. Watt and Kylie C. Stewart ’s performance did you like?

They played really well together and their voices meshed together perfectly. I have listened to Will before and having in as someone you wanted to hate at times in this book was different as he was also the romantic type in past books. He played the dark night well though and his performance was amazing.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes and no, I loved that it is a series and I knew going in that not all of the books were out on audible but man I really wish they were so I could listen to them all and not be left having to wait to buy the last 2 to listen to later on after I have read them. I also hate cliffhangers even when I know they are there! It's a great knowing its coming and wondering when it's going to happen.

I am torn on about this book...

The reviews said it was so good. But to me it was so slow. I have loved all of Pepper Winters other books so part of me wants to read #2 to see if it picks up. But do I really want to spend money to see if it gets any better?

The premise is unbelievable. It’s fiction so it doesn’t need to be believable necessarily as long s it wraps you in its arms and carries you into the story. I didn’t feel this book did that.

You can't help yourself but be drawn in.

What made the experience of listening to Debt Inheritance the most enjoyable?

I think the joy of having two readers, one for each sex. It makes it easier to follow along and these two are very, very good going off each other. Makes the story believable and draws you in like you are sitting there watching it unfold.

What did you like best about this story?

The way it keeps going back to the past and then coming to the future. That's what keeps me hanging on. The fight for control and how the book makes me think of more questions then it gives answers.

What does Will M. Watt and Kylie C. Stewart bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I don't read books, I never have been one for reading. But since I found Audible Books and brought a Kindle a year and half ago. I just can't stop listening. This is the first time for Will M. Watt and Kylie C. Stewart, I love their voices and the way they bring the story to life. Their Great. My new favorite readers.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Keeping in mind that there is eroticism in this book, the part where he made her run and then capture her again in the woods.

Any additional comments?

I have moved on to book two and can't wait for book three. Oh, who am I kidding want the whole series NOW. It's got to have a fanatic ending to the series and if I did read, I think this would be the series I would read.

Great Narrators, annoying characters

The story was so slow and anticlimactic. The female character was so meek and incapable it was a drag to get through. The plot was pretty disturbing and ridiculous. The Narrators were the only thing that kept me going, they were fantastic.

amazing and addictive!

This book is a bit darker than what I'm used to and at times it was hard to read or listen to. Some parts were just brutal. OMG!

But....... it was too addictive to quit, uggggh.

There are times where I felt I didn't need to hear that much self talk that the characters were doing, lol. Overall, I'm addicted and need the rest of the story.

An intriguing dark romance

Indebted is the first book in the intriguing Debt Inheritance series by Pepper Winters. It is a dark romance, but it is well written. It is filled with suspence and a unique chemistry that keeps you burning through the pages to find out what happens next to fashion designer Nila Weaver. Unknown to her, her family's history has a role in her future. When Jethro Hawk comes to collect his families debt, he will stop at nothing to reach his goal.

This is the first book in a series, and I have already one-clicked the next book in the series to find out what happens next.

PS- Will Watt and Kylie C. Stewart do an excellent job of making Pepper Winter's words come to life. I actually purchased this book because I enjoy Will Watt's work. I was not disappointed. The narration kept me intrigued and dying to know what would happen next.
