Publisher's summary

Home is where the heart is. The danger too…

The Martinellis were the closest thing to family Cat Johnson ever had. That’s why she ran - to protect them from her threatening past. The orphaned child of classical musicians, she’s been lying low in Nashville and performing at the No Name Café. When Cat reluctantly agrees to attend the wedding of her beloved foster sister, the plan is simple: make a quick appearance at the Martinellis’, then disappear again. Instead, she’s thrust headlong into a nightmare.

After a wedding guest is murdered, Cat’s past becomes harder and harder to avoid. So does handsome and inquisitive Safe Harbor cop Nick Stanton, who will stop at nothing to uncover the town’s secrets. That means exposing Cat’s as well. The more intimate Nick’s feelings for Cat become, the more driven he is to find out what she’s hiding.

As things in Safe Harbor take a terrifying turn, Cat realizes that the man she’s afraid to trust might be the only one she can turn to.

Great listen

Wonderful narration. Wide range of very distinctive voices made for a pleasurable listen. I will look for more by this author and narrator.

Absolutely Spellbinding!!!

Listened to this entire novel in one day. You know the author and the storyline is great when you choose them over sleep before a huge meeting at work.

Riveting Suspense

I believe this was my first time reading this author. Although some of the side character names sounded familiar. So I could be wrong or the author was writing in a shared world. Either way, there were a lot of characters and backstory that I didn't know but felt like I should have.

The characters were unique and engaging. I'd like to read more in the series and see if it overlaps with other series. There were enough twists and turns to keep me listening.

However, I was not impressed with the narrator. She did fine with the two main characters but not with the others. Although I have to say I loved her voice for JD when he and Alex tricked the bad guys. I'd say more but I don't want to give anything away.

Overall, it was a very enjoyable listen.

Had Potential

I felt this book had potential - but it wore me out. The characters have promise, but they make dumb decision after dumb decision and it gets tiring. There was a great deal of redundancy and the book went on and on. It might have been a decent book if the author would have followed logical thought processes instead of jumping all over.

The reader is ok for the narrative and the main characters, but secondary characters all sound ridiculous - like they're trying to sound like little old ladies or little old men. Also - this narrator should not try to do a southern accent.
