Publisher's Summary

Abbey

Some scary-looking aliens have just boarded Fortuna Tau, our little asteroid mining station. Kordolians, by the looks of things. What the hell do they want with this floating rust bucket? What are they even doing here?

Come to think of it, I've never seen a Kordolian up close before. They're huge and intimidating, with strange silver skin and pointed ears. They have freaky nano-armor, and they're packing a serious arsenal. We humans stand no chance against them.

When I encounter their general, I find him insufferable. Arrogant. Domineering. He won't tell me anything. I guess that's what happens when your race is kicking ass across the Nine Galaxies. You get pigheaded.

So why do I keep running into him? Why does he keep looking at me like that? And what's with this weird feeling I get when he's around? I really hope these guys fix their ship and go away soon, because I get the feeling they could be major trouble.

Tarak

Sucked into a wormhole during a fierce skirmish with an enemy ship. Spat out near a human mining station in a remote corner of the Nine Galaxies. Stuck with weak humans who operate with inferior metals and technology.

This mission couldn't get any worse.

We need to fix our craft, kill the cursed Xargek, and get out of here before the wormhole collapses. I don't really care about these humans. Their existence makes no sense to me.

So why has this strange human female captured my attention? She's messy, awkward, and she babbles nonsense half the time.

These humans are crazy. I don't understand them at all, especially this female. Why do I keep coming back to her?

I need to leave this place before I go insane.

Contains mature themes.

Excellent Story

I've read all 8 books plus the short one (4.5) in one weekend because I couldn't get enough. Now I can hardly wait for the rest of the series to come out in audible. The way the author has created the setting for the book and the characters is amazing. If you like G.A Aiken and Laurann Dohner you won't be disappointed in this series.

Great story

Looking forward to more of the series. Hope a different female narrator is used next time though. I've heard Jillian Macie do worse, but her inflections are still irritating.

Read the entire series in a weekend

I read in the entire series in one weekend and I loved it! Loved the premise and loved the stories but I was not impressed with the narrators... They did and okay job but the pacing felt off to me. I hope they pick it up a better and continue the series!

As the series comes on to audible i'd go back and listen to Dark Planet Warriors again to refresh myself on the story. Love the characters .

Who was your favorite character and why?

The captain is my favorite character so far. Powerful yet tender.

Which scene was your favorite?

When he finds out she is pregant

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

I do not know.

Any additional comments?

Loved it!!

I have read all the books in this series so it was a great treat to be able to listen to the first book again. Needless to say I was not disappointed. I really love the characters and how they connected and never doubted each other. The audio book, just like the book put a huge smile on my face.

The performance was Terrible.

I liked the story, the female narrator was really good. The one thing that made the rating lower than a 5 is the male narrator. He ruined it for me, his voice was so husky and almost all of his characters sounded ancient. His female voice wasn't good either, I would laugh while he spoke. It was pretty bad.... If they would have had just the woman narrate, or another guy with better range it would be a 5 star for sure.

The narration takes the story up a level, and this one was so bad it knocked it down a few stars..

Anna and Tarek - a great love story

Any additional comments?

I was already a huge fan of the Dark Planet Warriors series. When I saw that the first book, Dark Planet Warriors, was finally available on audio I could believe my good fortune. I purchased it right away and couldn't be happier with the performances.

I didn't necessarily think of Anna's voice as sounding the way it does as narrated by Jillian Macle, but within a few pages I couldn't imagine anyone else as Anna. In fact Jillian reminds me of Ilya Kadushin, the narrator for the Twilight series. However, it took me a little longer to come to grips with Todd Mclaren for Tarek. While Todd's voice is powerful (just as I'd expect Tarek's to be) Todd sounds older than I perceived Tarek. While there is no indication of Tarek's age (at least I don't think there is) I always perceived him to be younger than middle aged. Maybe early to mid thirties or so. Tarek, as voiced by Todd Mclaren just sounds older. Still powerful and authoritative but much more mature than I imagined. However, I still enjoyed his performance.

Overall, I found listening to the book as performed by these professionals an entirely new and delightful experience. Both performances were good and brought out aspects of the characters and the story that I hadn't picked up on before. In the end I realize that I found new material to enjoy even though I had read the book at least two times already.

Well written. Loved the narration. Can't wait for next book. I like how sassy she is.
