Publisher's summary

Feelings kill faster than bullets.

That is Drake's creed. A legend, a renegade, a ruthless, powerful enigma understood by no one and feared by all, Viktor "Drake" Drakovich heads up a billion-dollar empire - and shows no mercy to the many enemies who would stop at nothing to destroy him. He is a man with no love and no weakness, until....

Grace Larsen takes Drake's breath away the first time he sees her and quickly becomes his obsession. Never before has he burned for someone the way he desires this hauntingly beautiful artist who is plagued by troubling dreams. He aches to possess her, to protect her, to carry her to new heights of sensuous arousal and rapturous release.

But entering Drake's world means becoming a target for relentless, bloodthirsty foes have been eagerly waiting for him to expose his weak spot. And the price of their passion may be their lives.

GOOD STORY vs. BAD NARRATOR

I wish the Publishers would give the type of narrator a book needs a little bit more thought, if this had been read by a guy then I'd be giving it a whole different review but instead and alas Karen White's narration was sadly lacking.

I had it playing on double speed so I enjoyed the story, yes it was a bit cheesy, a billionaire arms dealer is nearly killed, he knows who did it but all he thinks of is "touching her" or "holding her" - where's the revenge........ Oh yeah at the end for one particularly bad guy.

Worth a credit? Listen to an excerpt first then make up your mind.

I wanted to love this audio book

I love this story and have since I first read it - Lisa Marie Rice writes wonderful stories. Her books always find a place on my keeper shelves.

IMO this is such a man's story that it really needed a man narrating the hero. The characterization by Ms. White just didn't work for me. In the book he's in his 30's, big and powerful, but in the audio book he sounds like the guy who waits on me at the local deli - who's about 80, 5'2 and 100 pounds soaking wet.

I finished listening to the book, but I really had to work hard to make that happen. I doubt that I will ever listen to it again.

I hope different, really different choices are made for the performer, if more of LMR's books get recorded. If it's the same reader, I just won't buy the recording.

I couldn't finish it

What would have made Dangerous Passion better?

a better narrator

What could Lisa Marie Rice have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

love scenes should be realistic

What didn’t you like about Karen White’s performance?

too slow, not at all believable

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

could have been a good story. The plot was unique.

Any additional comments?

I simply could not finish it due to the narrator. It was very unpleasant to listen to. If I were reading the book, I would have finished it.

Great story, so-so performance

If you could sum up Dangerous Passion in three words, what would they be?

Steamy suspense

What was one of the most memorable moments of Dangerous Passion?

Yacht scene near the end when the villain gets his comeuppance

What didn’t you like about Karen White’s performance?

The hero was an ultra-tough guy but her performance had him sound like a kindly Russian grandfather/politician.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Can a lonely artist find happiness with a dangerous & reclusive arms dealer?

Pretty much medium

Overall this was fine while I was reading it but I doubt I’d listen to it again. The other book I’ve read by this author was very emotionally intense, so perhaps this one suffered a bit by comparison.

This was... medium. Nothing about it stood out and grabbed me as either great or terrible. The plot is very basic (which isn’t a bad thing) but I know the author is capable of more flare. The narration is all right but not excellent. The characters were okay but I didn’t fall in love, and I really wish the male lead hadn’t been an illegal arms dealer. Well, a reforming arms dealer, at least.

I picked this up during a sale. If it comes up on sale again, listen to the sample before deciding whether it’s your cup of tea. Maybe the other reviewers are right and a different narrator would have given this more oomph?

Slow...not sure I will ever finish this story.

The storyline is interesting enough...somewhat common. The writing takes forever to get from one point to another point. The narrator is professional and clear but she talks so slow it is as if she is holding each w-o-r-d. It just wears you out. The powerful man expressed here does not develop in your mind because of the femininity of her voice.
It was a bad pairing I think.

WOW...I love this audio

I love when I find a new author on Audible and I can listen to all her books instead of waiting months. This was such a fantastic book. I increased the audio speed to 1.5 and loved the narrator. Audible releases three books (dangerous series) on 10-15. I can't wait!

Loved it!

Lisa Marie Rice is one of my favorite authors and this audiobook version was perfect. This is a great story about a very wealthy Russian arms dealer living in NYC, and an unassuming artist that does brilliant work. He knows his life I’d dangerous, but has fallen in love with her paintings, so he goes to the gallery where her art is displayed never meaning to meet her (though he longs to know her). Unfortunately, one of his enemies is Informed by a traitor in the household of Drakes trips to stand outside the gallery to see Grace, the artist. I am not going to spoil the story. Just know when you buy this audiobook it’s well worth the credit. I would classify this as romantic suspense with a HEA ending. Narration is excellent!

Below My Expectation

Actually this is my first with the author and I've been expecting something more than interesting and entertaining when I read the summary. The narrator is quiet alright, but I expect more adventure and excitement by the plot. The male character is absolutely a dreamy or fantasy, you can't expect an armed dealer can be a secret admirer towards a lady , that is unlikely. But the lady why oh why should the author make her so annoyingly passive, but how can I say that's how the fiction goes.

She's done better

I've heard White's work before. She's great. But this was not so great. the book very clearly states slight accent. she gave Drake a thick one that didn't work well with his American accent inner thoughts. it doesn't help the book is actually crap. sorry. I'm trying so hard to finish this novel and it's painful.
