Publisher's Summary

Zarek's point of view:

"Dark-Hunter: a soulless guardian who stands between mankind and those who would see mankind destroyed. Yeah, right. The only part of that Code of Honor I got was eternity and solitude.

"Insanity: A condition many say I suffer from after being alone for so long. But I don't suffer from my insanity - I enjoy every minute of it.

"Trust: I can't trust anyone...not even myself. The only thing I trust in is my ability to do the wrong thing in any situation and to hurt anyone who gets in my way.

"Truth: I endured a lifetime as a Roman slave, and 900 years as an exiled Dark-Hunter. Now I'm tired of enduring. I want the truth about what happened the night I was exiled - I have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

"Astrid (Greek, meaning star): An exceptional woman who can see straight to the truth. Brave and strong, she is a point of light in the darkness. She touches me and I tremble. She smiles and my cold heart shatters.

"Zarek: They say even the most damned man can be forgiven. I never believed that until the night Astrid opened her door to me and made this feral beast want to be human again. Made me want to love and be loved. But how can an ex-slave whose soul is owned by a Greek goddess ever dream of touching, let alone holding, a fiery star?"

Love in vein: listen to another Dark-Hunter novel.

Critic Reviews

"In turns angst-filled and laugh-out-loud funny, her latest once again delivers a sensual, fast-paced read with a hero who is definitely worth the risk." (Booklist)

Makes you laugh, makes you cry.

Would you consider the audio edition of Dance with the Devil to be better than the print version?

Yes the audio version lets you experience another dimension with the tallents of the narrator giving personality and unique accents to each character. I thoroughly enjoyed this dark hunter novel in audio format.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Dance with the Devil?

When the author let it be known that Zarek lived in that shack in Alaska all alone whittiling even the walls to stay sane. And then finding out he gave them away to his neighbors in the town unbenownst to any of them.

Which scene was your favorite?

When he was allowed to finally get rid of his virginity.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It certainly did. I laughed out loud, and cried quietly, experienced anger, hope, hate. I experienced the whole gamut of emotions.

Any additional comments?

Fred Bermnan is the undisputed champion narrator of these novels. However Holter Graham is my second favorive reader of these novels, although his women portrayal is a bit whiney.

Sherrilyn Kenyon is a great writer that keeps the story moving. It was well worth the read and I have been following the series and can't wait until the next book.

Pretty good

This is a typical book by an author whose books all have essentially the same plot, with a couple of notable exceptions. It's not the kind of book you will remember very long after you read it, but it's enjoyable. It's sexy. It's pure fun. Don't over-think the story or the characters and you will have a fine time.

Don't expect great literature. This is a great beach read or time filler on a rainy day. Narration is good, and the story moves along at a nice pace. Definitely a "chick" book.

I liked it, but...

OK, I will admit that I am a fan of vampire stories and romances, even steamy romances, but this took steamy to a new level. Honestly, the graphic sex scenes would give this book a Hard R rating, or possibly an NC-17. While the story was fun, I felt that often the sex scenes would be used in place of truly forwarding the story. Still, I ordered a few more of the books in the series, so... Guess that is the best review of them all!

ehhh ok

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

This is the first book i have ever read/listened to by this author. I have actually tried to listen to it a few times but couldn't get into it. I'm forcing myself to listen to it now since I did buy it. Its ok. The narrator could be better... or maybe it the accent he gives to Zarek(sp) makes him sound girly.

Would you be willing to try another book from Sherrilyn Kenyon? Why or why not?

I don't know right now.

What didn’t you like about Fred Berman’s performance?

made the main character sound like a girl.

If you like attitude you'll love this!

Would you consider the audio edition of Dance with the Devil to be better than the print version?

The narrator fits in perfectly with Zarek a stand alone immortal who is constantly misunderstood. By far my favorite character of any story I have heard, full of the eff u attitude I do so enjoy. To be fair if you know nothing of this series you should know he is not evil but definately not afraid to stand up for himself.<br/><br/> Why do I like it? Well I'm glad you asked, to start I can remotely relate to Zarek. My life has not been all pain and suffering but I know what it's like to be treated poorly by family members who are supposed to be closest to you. I admire his I don't need anyone or anything attitude as I feel that way a lot. What I like most about him is how crude he is but yet is gentle and caring.<br/><br/> The Dark Hunter books are well known for having a lot of fiery sex scenes, but this book is not all lovey dovey droolin over the hot immortal greek god. It's still there but toned down A LOT in this book 5 stars all around an excellent audiobook.<br/><br/> Still waiting for my Astrid...
