Publisher's summary

Callie Colter once chased sunsets all over the world. Until Max. Together they were a perfect storm of desire, and she reveled in the beautiful burn. Then he disappeared, and the betrayal drove her home to lick her wounds. Who knew he’d have the gall to show his face in her brother’s bar. Max Wilder figures he deserves Callie’s right hook to the jaw, but it changes nothing. He had his reasons for pursuing her across Europe, for making her fall in love with him. But when she took everything he gave and offered more, she changed all the rules. He had no choice in leaving her, but now he’s back. This time for the right reasons. Callie is angry and hurt but powerless against Max’s relentless onslaught. He’ll settle for nothing less than her complete surrender - and her love. Only when she’s back in his arms will he be truly happy. And the damning truth can stay safely tucked away. Except the truth has a way of creeping to the surface, and now Max is out of second chances.

not as good as the first two

I'm not a huge fan of BDSM, but love and HEA I can do. I wanted Callie's story since she was a part of the 2nd book.

Steamy, but not my bag baby!

This was recommended to me by a friend. It was the second novel of this nature that I have ever explored. While hot and steamy in some parts this type of novel is just not for me. As for the writing I quite enjoyed the way a few of the characters developed. Max in particular has an interesting back story. I have not read the novels before this so I don't know if his kin actually appear previously. However, there is a very interesting plot twist that makes the story feel a bit more exciting. I wish that the author would have delved more into the main female. It seems to me that their just wasn't enough of Callie to make the character feel defined, well-rounded and fleshed out to the reader/listener. This review is written based on an audio version of the book. The narrator was fantastic and did a great job and gave a great performance with wonderful intonations for all of the characters.

Another great book

What made the experience of listening to Colters' Daughter the most enjoyable?

The emotion the narrator puts into every character

What was one of the most memorable moments of Colters' Daughter?

As always the ending

Have you listened to any of Freddie Bates’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

The other colters' books

Any additional comments?

This isn't my favorite book in the series but Freddie Bates made me enjoy it better than when I read it

MAYA BANKS HAS QUICKLY BECOME MY FAVORITE AUTHOR

Any additional comments?

Maya has done it again and again and again... Maya Banks can't write these books fast enough for me!! I love the characters and the dialogue is just as if I am part of the conversation....very real-life! Last but, by no means least, THANK YOU ...THANK YOU...THANK YOU for having a male narrator. I cannot listen to another audiobook with a female voice trying to do men's voices who are supposed to be burly and masculine!! They always sound like drag queens to me...I just can't get involved in the story like that. Thank you Maya...KEEP WRITING THESE BOOKS AS FAST AS YOU CAN!!

Maya Banks Redeems This Somewhat Eww Series Here

Would you consider the audio edition of Colters' Daughter to be better than the print version?

Not applicable

If you’ve listened to books by Maya Banks before, how does this one compare?

I love Maya Banks and started this series because I'd listened to everything else she had written. The first two in the series are creepy (in my opinion) but this one is 100x's better. The series would rank pretty low but this book brings it up a bit.

What about Freddie Bates’s performance did you like?

He is consistent and able to perform 7 male characters with some distinction.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, and I did.

Any additional comments?

NOTE: Strong language and sexual content.

A Change of Pace for the Colters

The first two books of this series has involved a relationship between one woman and three men. This time, the story revolves around Callie, the daughter of the Colters from the first book and the sister to the Colters in the second book. Callie is a free spirit, very independent, but she has returned to her family subdued and heart broken after her love affair with Max Wilder ends. Max, after realising he has made a big mistake at letting Callie go, pursues her again but has a secret that could destroy their happiness.

The exploration of a submissive one on one relationship between Callie and Max is a nice change of pace in this series, and Freddie Bates is a wonderful narrator just perfect for this story. His gruff tones are great for Max, and his lighter, higher voice for Callie and the other female characters isn't grating. Worth a credit? I'd have been happy to spend a credit on this, but it was more economic just to pay for it and save my credit on other more expensive titles.

Depending on what you're into

this is the third book in the Colter Legacy series and it's probably my least favorite. I like the overall story but I am not into BDSM. if that is not a problem for you then this is a great story. the narration is good the performance is good an overall I would give this a 3 1/2 to 4 stars.

Books 1 and 2 are much better!

What did you like best about Colters' Daughter? What did you like least?

I really didn't like this one compared to the two previous ones. I found this one to be even more disturbing and found that even as the story went on it didn't make me feel better as the first two did. This one is just a no no. The only good thing is Freddie Bates narration!

What was most disappointing about Maya Banks’s story?

I found it a bit sick. Don't want to spoil it though.

Which scene was your favorite?

The very last few minutes but it left me asking whether everything would go back to the usual disturbing behaviour.

Do you think Colters' Daughter needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

No. I don't think I could handle it.

Any additional comments?

If she had gone a different way with this book then I would have been interested to see what happens in relation to the previous two books. Sorry, but I should have just stuck to the first two!

Lots of steamy bits but little substance

There was a lot of sex but little depth in the storyline. I prefer my romance to have a bit more substance to the story. The beginning was very promising but when the characters go away together, there's just lots of steamy sex and then it starts to get interesting and fizzles.
