Publisher's summary

Her car disabled during a tropical storm, Jessica Randall discovers the isolated house where she's sheltering is a private bondage club. At first shocked, she soon becomes aroused watching the interactions between the doms and their subs. But she's a professional woman - an accountant - and surely isn't a submissive...is she?

Master Z hasn't been so attracted to a woman in years. But the little sub who has wandered into his club intrigues him. She's intelligent. Reserved. Conservative. After he discovers her interest in BDSM, he can't resist tying her up and unleashing the passion she hides within.

Welcome to The Shadowlands

Would you consider the audio edition of Club Shadowlands to be better than the print version?

Not better, just AS good.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Club Shadowlands?

When Jessica returns to Club Shadowlands after Master Z sends her a sexy teddy for the Submissive's Lingerie Night.

Which character – as performed by Noah Michael Levine – was your favorite?

Master Z. He is the greatest Dom around. Sexy and always in control. Noah really captured the spirit of the character.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes, Near the end of the book when Jessica and Master Z decide to pursue a relationship inside and outside of the club. When Master Z tells Jessica that she may call Him Zachary when they are on a date outside the club but that she is to call him Sir or Master Z when they are at Club Shadowlands.

Any additional comments?

I have been hoping and wishing that the Shadowlands books would be released on Audible and my only question is: What took so LONG? The Shadowlands books are a wonderful series. Filled with memorable characters, Doms and subs alike. The wonderful things about Cherises books are that she writes characters that you feel you know. They are like visiting old friends. All likeable and relateable. So download this book, grab your headphones and relax. "Welcome to the Shadowlands".

Master Z

I have loved every book in this series. Listening to it on audio has just renewed my love for the Masters of Shadowlands. Master Z has always been my favorite. The chemistry and love between the dominant and submissive is incredible. The narrator did a fantastic job of playing the emotions behind the characters, both strong and sensitive. I felt the dominance behind Masters Z and the love from both Jessica and him. I would definitely listen to this book again and can't wait to start the next.

Juvenile

Im reluctant to hurt anyone's feeling or artistic temperament, but the choice of Mr. Levine as the narrator wasn't a good one IMHO. He sounded like a PBS news castor.and his narrating was just as inflectional. Being a women's' book, I felt it would have been perfect for Jo Raylan-perhaps I've gotten spoiled. Have you ever seen Potlandia? Fred Armisen portrays female characters in the same voice. No escapism there.
I felt that the characters were two dimensional. Yes, they were given back stories, but they felt flat. I guess I'm a little saddened by orgies.

More realistic than most BDSM books!

Any additional comments?

.I read and reread the Club Shadowlands books before they came out in audio. I am now enjoying this new way of reading these books while I do chores and drive! I really enjoy the narration by Noah Michael Levine. I think the books would have suffered if narrated by a woman. It just sounds more believable for a Dom to have the deep voice of a man.

Cherise Sinclair has a better grasp of what BDSM is truly about than most of the authors out there who are writing about it. If you are a bit interested in what makes this lifestyle appealing to people, her books are fictional stories that give you some insight into the thought processes of people who actually enjoy this lifestyle. This book is the first in the Club Shadowlands series and it introduces a lot of characters upon which the rest of the series is built.

The owner of Club Shadowlands is Master Z. In this story, Master Z meets a woman who is not even in the BDSM community. Yet he sees a submissive side to her nature that draws him, and he finds himself more attracted to her than he has been to another woman in a very long time. Jessica stumbles into Club Shadowlands during a terrible storm, looking for shelter and help with her stranded car. Her time in the Club opens her eyes to a lifestyle she never envisioned for herself. She has to admit that some of the activities she sees are immensely intriguing and thoroughly arousing.Master Z continues to pursue the lovely Jessica in the hope that she will open herself to the delights of submission to him. Their growing relationship is almost a primer for BDSM 101. Jessica is a feisty, confident, and reserved woman, yet she finds she enjoys giving Master Z the power to control her sexual pleasure. It is an exploration that is both fascinating and erotic.

This book allows you glimpses into the POV of both characters, which is so essential to understanding the BDSM dynamic. But if you do not like very graphic sex scenes, or believe a woman could never find happiness by submitting to a man during sex, then you should definitely avoid this book. However, if you have an open mind, you may find yourself wishing you could find your own Master Z.

Dreadful narrator

Could not even get past chapter one!!! I have never stopped a book this early. It almost seemed as if the narrator was using a monotone, flat, dreadful voice on purpose! Don't waste your money.

Love this series!! Thrilled to read it again!

I read this book a few years ago, it was one of my first introductions to the BDSM genre. Fabulous read then and again now.

I love feisty Jessica, it was great to visit with her again. Seeing her first interactions with Master Z, her wonder at experiencing the club for the first time and the heady feeling of falling in love. At the time, it did not feel like BDSM 101, because it was my first time experiencing it as well. Now it has a very educational feel but a great story to back it up.

Characters introduced in this book are leads throughout the rest of the series. So wonderful meeting them again! This is a fabulous series and still one of my favorites.

The Master Z empathy angle is a little odd. Everything else in the series is so normal, that this sticks out as different and not really needed. Still, it is interesting to have him so in tune with everything that happens in his club.

I love the mixed narrative, getting both Jess and Z's POV is important to understanding their whole dynamic. It also makes the romance more engaging. I am not sure I would be into the lifestyle, but I certainly enjoy reading about it. This series puts you into the mindset of the people who live this kind of life and helps you understand them better.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Noah Michael Levine, who is scrumptious! His tone is just as yummy as the words coming out of his mouth. He does make Jessica a touch too breathy at times and I am never a fan of sound effects. Hearing actual spanking was a touch off putting. He has a terrific pace and energy that he brings to the read. I definitely hope to hear more of this yummy voice!

Overall, I was thrilled to come back to the beginning of a series I have loved for a few years. I hope they will all be released in audio! This way I can finally catch up on the latest book!

I love Cherise Sinclair!!

I love this book. Counting the audible version I've bought it 3 times. Just for myself. I've recommended this book to many people as well. I will say that it bugged me the way the narrator says "pet". It always sounded like "Pat" to me and took me out of the story a little bit. But overall it is well narrated. I enjoyed the way he would speed up his narration during certain parts, letting the excite of the scene shine through.

totally wrong accent, clunky speaking pattern

How did the narrator detract from the book?

For THIS book he totally detracted. Master Z shouldn't sound like a working class New Yorker. Jess sounded horribly wimpy. Noah sounded like he was just reading words out mechanically. Noah is much better in other books but this one was painful to listen to. I don't know how he will do in the other Shadowlands books.

Any additional comments?

This is a good book although it isn't the best book Cherise has written, she is an excellent writer and I automatically buy all her books.
