Publisher's summary

"Everly," he growls. "I'm claiming you as mine, right here, right now."

Silas

I want a wife who knows what it means to live off the grid, cook my food, and keep my bed warm. In exchange, I'll give her a lifetime of happiness in the form of my cock. But damn, Everly's more than I bargained for, and I don't think she has any idea what it means to be mine. Hell, I wanted a wife, but I'm not sure I know how to live with a woman.

Everly

Did I expect to be a mail-order bride at 22? No. But honestly, my life could be a helluva lot worse. The agency says this Alaskan mountain man is rich, hot as heck, and willing to pay off my student loans. I'm crossing my fingers he's everything I signed up for. But I may be a little over my head. Mostly because I'm marrying a stranger, and also because I've never dated. Period. Clearly I have no clue how to be a wife, but it's too late to back out now.

*WARNING: This story features a mountain man who knows exactly what he wants. And how he wants it. Don't one-click if you want a tame mail order bride story; this is a classic Frankie Love romance, steamy as hell with a HEA.

I adore Frankie Love's work!

Firstly, I think I prefer Eric London's narration over Lillian Claire's. Not because his voice is sexy (because it is) bout because I could feel the story better when he was speaking. His narrative was smooth and clear, and I feel as though he has perfected the craft. Lillian Cclaire is also a great narrator, but I do feel it could have been done better. This aside, I enjoyed this book so much! Frankie Love is one of my go to authors and I simply adore her work.

Very sweet love story

What did you love best about Claimed by the Mountain Man?

The evolution of the relationship between Everly and Silas was fun to watch. She being so shy and introverted at the start, then really blooms in the presence of Silas who has such a great appreciation for her.

What did you like best about this story?

I especially enjoyed the ugly duckling becomes beautiful swan aspect. If the domination by Silas had included spanking and discipline, this would most certainly be a FIVE STAR story.

Which scene was your favorite?

All of the sex scenes were totally HOT!!! my favorite scene was at the end when she finds out his true financial status etc.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, and I did.

Any additional comments?

The alternating narration between male and female was especially enjoyable as both narrators were exceptionally talented.

Hate The Female Lead

Male lead was good. I skipped all the female voice, voice was cringe worthy and nasally. Don’t even get me started on her male impersonation (tragic)!... The female character was naive, self-centered, & immature. Personally wouldn’t recommend.

No.

No. Just, no.

Girl is a mail order bride.
She goes to Rural Alaska to meet her husband.
He's HOT.
He's SWEET
But when she discovers he lives in tiny romote cabin next to a lake, it's NO WAY for her to live.
"I thought you were LOADED!" She whines.
"I CAN'T live here!" She whines
"You're supposed to have LOTS OF MONEY!" She whines.
Seriously, this girl pouts around his cabin for a week because she hates everything about the way he chooses not to spend his money.
Girl burns down house.
Don't worry though, guy rushes off to buy her a 10 million dollar house and cancels the prenup.
The end.
I hated everything about this girl. The guy should have dumped her gold digging a** on day 2.
I really liked Amelia's story. Skip this one and buy book 3.

Implausiblility ruins the story.

Too Many inaccuracies just ruin it. Running water in a shack out in the wilderness of Alaska. A boat, large enough to have a lower deck with a bed, on a lake in the middle of BFE. How did it get there? The area is only accessible by a plain small enough to land on the lake. And the kicker she bought a corset lingerie set at Target.

Hard to get past unlikable female character

This is my first narration by Lillian Claire and Eric London. I have read/listened to other Frankie Love books, but this is my least favorite of hers to date.

OVERALL: I LOVE a good story about a strong, alpha, mountain man. This is my first delve into mail-order brides/arranged marriages. However, I take a bit of issue with calling Silas a traditional “mountain man.” He’s a rich corporate guy who chooses to live out in the wilderness and off the grid. There is instant attraction/lust, and there are a handful of pretty steamy sex scenes that are written well.

STORYLINE/PLOT: I’m confused regarding the arranged marriage. I would have thought since it sounded like Silas was fairly explicit in his description of what he wanted, that, at minimum, Monique would know that he was going to live in the wilderness (and thus, also tell the potential bride). It was confusing that Everly had no idea what she was in for. How is it that Everly KNEW she was signing up to marry “clients with fortunes and the means to take care of their wives,” but then she assumed Silas was poor? I found myself questioning why Everly would even sign up for being a mail-order bride multiple times. She just didn't think about signing up apparently, beyond having a sugar daddy.

CHARACTERS: I didn’t find myself relating to or caring about the characters. I feel like I would have perhaps connected more with Everly when I was younger, but nearing 40 myself, I find her to be annoying, shallow, whiny, and immature. Also (and this should not be surprising given she is a mail-order bride), she comes off as a gold-digger. I think, on the whole, while she is supposed to be mid-20s, she reads more like she’s in her teens.

I feel torn regarding Silas. He’s stubborn, arrogant, distant, closed-off, and doesn’t seem to care about getting to know his new wife, but he’s also pretty clear about what he wants from the beginning -- someone to take care of him and the house. Now, to be fair, many mountain men / billionaire male characters have these same characteristics, and that’s what I love about them. However, I just expected more from him as the story developed. Normally, with these “colder” male characters, there’s an evolution throughout the story to “thaw” him and make him more “human.” Instead, and perhaps due to the shorter length of the story, when he does go through this "transformation," it feels very sudden and forced. Mostly, I just felt bad for Silas I think since Everly was such an annoying character. It doesn't feel like she's his equal (even at the end), which is one of the main things I love about the mountain man theme.

NARRATION: I liked Eric London's narration quite a bit. It's sexy and very easy to listen to. While Everly was an annoying character, Lillian Claire was pleasant to listen to, but I could not get past her male voice (it sometimes sounded like a Southern twang was added).
