Publisher's summary

From the New York Times best-selling author of the Marked Men books comes the second installment in the Saints of Denver series featuring a bad girl and a by-the-book attorney who could be her salvation...or her ruin.

Avett Walker's and Quaid Jackson's worlds have no reason to collide. Ever. Quaid is a high-powered criminal attorney as slick as he is handsome. Avett is a pink-haired troublemaker with a bad attitude and a history of picking the wrong men.

When Avett lands in a sea of hot water because of one terrible mistake, the only person who can get her out of it is the insanely sexy lawyer. The last thing on earth she wants to do is rely on the no-nonsense attorney who thinks of her as nothing more than a nuisance. He literally has her fate in his hands. Yet there is something about him that makes her want to convince him to loosen his tie and have a little fun...with her.

Quaid never takes on clients like the impulsive young woman with a Technicolor dye job. She could stand to learn a hard lesson or two, but something about her guileless hazel eyes intrigues him. Still, he's determined to keep their relationship strictly business. But doing so is becoming more impossible with each day he spends with her.

As they work side by side, they'll have to figure out a way to get along and keep their hands off each other - because the chemistry between them is beyond charged.

Very surprised

Before starting I was not excited about the main characters but I have to say they rank toward the top of my favorites that Jay Crownover has crafted. A bit more repetitive then the others have been but wow the depth was pretty great. Loved how this one included so many people from past books. I hope that continues!

Disappointed

Normally I really love jay crownover books. The marked men are some of my favorites. This one just didn't cut it. First the character of Avedd was just not endearing in any way. The continual mea cults was annoying to hear how her response for being the cause of so much pain to people she loved was to cause more. Next I just didn't understand why quaid
liked her. He just suddenly found her too appealing to resist after a few conversations with her in jail.

Also I typically enjoy sexual scenes but these were just way too long. The euphemisms for sexual behaviors were irritating and tiresome not sexy or intriguing.

The male narrators were great. The female narrator was so monotone. There were times when the character of Aved read by each narrator made me think they were describing two different people. In addition to her boring narration she mispronounced several words. Very irritating.

If you're reading the series this is a fair addition but far from the quality of the other stories

This was even better than I imagined

I struggled to stop playing this book. I adore everything Jay Crownover puts out and this book didn't disappoint. The narrators brought the story to life with their intonations and inflections. The deep gravelly texture of Michael Reeve's voice was just how I imagined Church sounding and Monica and Adam seemed to have their own love for each other. Definitely worth listening to.

Thank you Jay again

This book is a romantic, erotic, drama filled book with action.

I have always been a fan of Jay Crownover books, this one was a bit of a surprise.

Avett has been told her whole life, your mistakes in life make great stories, but this one could be the death of her. She has grown up on the other side of the law, her father being an ex president of and MC. She has a habit of being with the wrong crowd, you are who you hang around. her boyfriend beat her and forced her to hold up the bar her father sold, by gun point. If that was not bad enough you have to hit rock bottom before you realize she might not live long enough to tell those great stories. Soon she find out that her ex is pinning it on her and someone is trying to kill her.

Quaid is bread to live a life off the land. So him becoming a lawyer was completely opposite from what he learned, but he was desperate enough to prove he could be more than a mountain man. You can take the man out of the mountain and put him in a city but something inside him is calling for his return. When he is hired to defend pink haired Avett his future life of the big city doesn't seem all that important anymore. The more there worlds collide together the more they find themselves needing each other.

Repeated Emotions

The plotline was fantastic. I loved both characters, but the heroine, Avett, felt very similar to Sayer from book one. Self haired was heavy, and we again have a Hero who did everything he could to pull her out of it. Now, this makes for a great story, but after starting this directly after book one, it just bothered me a little. Both book just felt a bit too similar.
The male narrators did a great job, but the female sounded too old, more like a grandmother instead of a young girl in her early twenties.
All narration stars are for both male narrators. I really loved Church's voice and hope his story comes soon!

You can never got wrong with a Jay Crownover book!

What made the experience of listening to Charged the most enjoyable?

I felt like this book was so different because the main character was a girl when I read her books I am so use to it being a mans story with a girl as the second thought. I loved that it was her story.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It was me laugh and cry. Because her story was so raw and broken that I felt what she was going through!

Any additional comments?

You can never go wrong with one of her books! She is an amazing and the books speak for it!
