Was not too sure at first, but give it time, and you will want to know more-and get the second book!

Dark and Lovely!

If you’re into a super dark romance this is the book for you. We get a bit of the background of both characters but mostly this book revolves around the kidnapping. Caleb has loyalty to Rafik but my gut tells me that Rafik isn’t the savior that Caleb thinks he is. Can’t wait to start the next book.

I didn't want to like it....

The writing is so so, the narration is ok and before I knew it this book had it's claws in me. I could not put it down and immediately wanted to begin book 2. I still have not figured out why.....

OMG! This book is Amazing!

I'm hooked! Amazing book! Starting on the second book now. I know I won't be able to put it down. Usually, books of this nature don't really get to me like this one has. It's the author and the narrator. They bring this to life. I don't give away contents of books but let me tell you this book is not just of dark sex, it is one of a love story. That's the difference. Just buy the book, one warning, listen with care. The sexual content is not the usual. Audible, please, let us have Epilogue (The Dark Duet: Book 3)!

Caprine In The Dark

I enjoyed the story and I understand where this type of novel is not for everyone. It does take BDSM, kidnapping and sexual assault to different levels. It is also a semi violent story.

If you don't mind dirty, this is a good book. It is dark and enjoyable.

Wasn't sure......and then I was

I read A LOT of reviews before deciding to "read" this book and it's follow up Seduced in the Dark. The idea of reading about sexual slavery was a little off-putting but the reviews were so convincing I had to find out for myself. This book was very thought provoking and sometimes it just made me mad! That being said I very early on identified and fell in love with the characters. Livy the suspected submissive turns out to be something else all together, although her survival instinct is strong. Caleb her kidnapper, in this book just shows us small portions of his true personality and we glimpse the man behind the beast. It kind of felt like a modern day beauty and the beast story but with a very dark point of view. As all good books do, this one made me laugh, cry and get extremely frustrated with the characters. There is some bondage and demeaning situations towards women and there is just enough of a back story to make you understand what makes Caleb the way he is. This story is not for the weak at heart and is the first of two books. My only complaint is the narrators male voice. It was just odd but not enough to stop me listening. Kudos to C.J. Roberts for tactfully addressing and telling a good story centered around very hard subject matter.

Yes.Emily Durante delivers an amazing performance and does a great job taking on Caleb's strange accent. I read the complete series awhile ago and I am very impressed with the transition into audiobook format. Very happy with this purchase. Hoping Epilogue will be out soon as well.

What did you like best about this story?

Caleb and Livie's dynamic! Both characters have depth, flaws, and their will to survive is brilliantly written.

What does Emily Durante bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Her voice conveys the true desperation within each character.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It is upsetting due to the harsh nature of their meeting. There is nothing glamorous or loving in the sex trade and that was hard to take in. But I realize it is a story.

Good, Raunchy Fun

Would you listen to Captive in the Dark again? Why?

I'm almost embarrassed to admit I enjoyed these books, but fantasy is fantasy, and if it works, it works. Not for the faint of heart or anyone wanting a sweet, gentle love story. I'd probably listen to certain scenes again, but not the entire book.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Captive in the Dark?

LOL! I'm ashamed to admit it. I did like the hero's background, and how really wicked he was, wanting to lick the heroine's tears.

Have you listened to any of Emily Durante’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Emily Durante is always good.

Don't trust gorgeous heroes.

It's not a great book, but it's sort of fun kink and better written (and much better narrated) than 50 Shades of Gray. There's all the naughty stuff -- bondage, toys, anal sex, spanking - but it doesn't pretend to be anything else, and the characters have justifiable (almost) motivation.

I Was Held Captive.

So very dark and consuming, it feels almost wrong to say I enjoyed this book. In all actuality, I was taken in by it, captivated by this very dark and seductive story. The narrator infused the perfect amount of emotion in the telling of a story I won't soon forget.
