Publisher's summary

The loss of control. The fear of desire. Allie always thought that mysteriously sexy rancher Caleb Johnson wanted her as much as she wanted him. But since he never acted on it, she was ready to admit defeat. Until the night she was attacked by a vicious wolf, only to be rescued by another. In the triumphant, bloodied male, there was something Allie recognized - the baritone growl, the mesmerizing eyes, the inexplicable animal attraction. Her savior was Caleb.

A rogue vampire living with his three equally rogue brothers and the McClaren werewolf pack, Caleb never wanted to bring the woman he secretly desired into his dark and dangerous world. But when she's targeted by his enemies, his only choice is to protect her. But how can someone as alive, as vulnerable, as human as Allie survive in the shadows with him?

"A fast-paced story with multifaceted characters, scorching sex, deadpan humor and a spunky heroine who's a perfect match for her alpha hero." ( Romantic Times)

Cute Sexy A little Angsty

If you could sum up Caleb in three words, what would they be?

Sexy, angsty, new (as in this is a new story and they usually take time to round out)

Blah

The narration of the story is great. The herion starts out courageous and brave, but soon turns whiny! When living in a world you know nothing about, one should listen, but of course she doesn't and that almost gets the hero of the story killed. The story dragged on and the sex is over kill. I hope books 2 and 3 are better.

Suprise Suprise Suprise Suprise!

Ok... Can you say Suprise! OMG! I was not expecting this... No seriously Not at all. I only pick this book because of the narrator. I am becoming a fan of Gilbert/Frost, so I came across this and was like now way... cowboys! ummmm NO! Right... but I took a chance...

This was sooo good! I don't know if it was because of the the narration...but wow! I ususally tend to stay away from paranormal vamp books because no one can do the right but Frost, and a very few others... but McCarty nailed it... these Cowboy Vamps and their wolf packs were simply hilarous! I loved every single bit of this book. I hardly ever listen to a book without fast fowarding... and I think I only fast fowarded like four time...just because I was so excited to see whats was going to happen... not becauce I was bored... and I did it like at chapter 2, at one pt... when Allie is being chased by the wolves before she gets to the circle J... get this and you will know what I am talking about... then when the brothers use Allie to bring back Caleb... OMG! I was freaking out! Then when .... Omg! I can just keep going... this book was just sooooo goood... I loved it.... Then... Allie gets kidnapped... OMG! Whew!

Suprise Suprise... I haven't been entertain is a long time.. and the smex! Hottty! Hotty! Right out of the gate too... well worth the credit... I ended up buying all four books in the series... I hope McCarty writes a book about the wolf pack next....

Narration... well we all know why I got the book orginally... Narration was awesome...

Good Buy or Credit.

luved

Would you consider the audio edition of Caleb to be better than the print version?

didn't read print version but then again i don't like to read the book. i prefer audio any day of the week. i find the characters come alive for.

What did you like best about this story?

caleb's character is strong but when he gets together with his mate, you can see his side but i like that his dominance as mate and the head of the family is stronger.

Which scene was your favorite?

when caleb is held prisioner in the lab and is fighting off the bad guys and his mate is calling jared but he doesn't come and calebs mate attacks vincent.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

when calebs brothers and friend tell him, they want his wife.

What a Surprise!

Any additional comments?

I was pleasently surprised by this series. I was not expecting much, but after listening to the first book I bought the rest. It has a very good story line with just a couple of problems. First, the southern accent is a little overdone but tolerable. It gets better in the next books. Second, all the women are a little too much alike in personality. I guess that could be expected as the men are all brothers. Other than that, this series is thoroughly entertaining and very much worth listening to. I hope Sarah continues the series as there is still so much to find out. (Being careful of spoilers here) I like that the series continues the story of all the characters and follows an exciting story. Give it a try!

The Magic of The Old Days Alive Today!

If you could sum up Caleb in three words, what would they be?

Hot, determined. HOT!!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Ally, because women of today are really no different from the women who settled the frontier. Hard, tough, busy and ready to make a life with their man in the field all day, and in his arms all night.

What about Tavia Gilbert’s performance did you like?

She finds the center of the characters, and makes them a part of reality.. Only a women can really come off masculine. Men, can't think like a women let alone portray one with any re conviction. Brava to Ms. Gilbert.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Ally over heard all the men talking about her being pregnant. And when a hard ass like Caleb melted inside when he felt it's flutter.

Any additional comments?

We all should give up a bit of ourselves for love, some of us change with no counter effort from our mate, it is a real man who realizes the changes made them and their happiness.. Loving 100 years ago had to be easier, smoother, and less chaotic then what deal with now adays.

What does Tavia Gilbert bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Love Tavia Gilbert

Was Caleb worth the listening time?

I am still trying to get though this book finding it difficult since Ally is totally a pain and annoying

Any additional comments?

Excellant Excitement!

Sarah McCarty writes a great book, as I'm now a fan who purchased my second book by her. Tavia Gilbert is my favorite narrator putting passion and excitement top notch as always!

Ok story but definitely not Hell's Eight level

Narrator was WAY over the top. Made it difficult to follow some sequences where there was action. Characters not very well developed. After reading the Hells Eight Series I Expected Better.

The subject matter bored me.

I read and loved the Hell' s Eight series years ago. IMO, Sarah McCarty (SMaC) writes really well with imaginative plots and fully explored characters. I have never been attracted to the currently popular vampire troupe but since this was a SMcC book, I thought it was worth a try. I hated it and DNF. As an Emergency Room and Intensive Care retired health professional I know I am not squeamish but I got bored and sick of all the focus on blood and violence. Although I recognize that it is the author's prerogative to choose their subject, I will continue to avoid this type of publication in the future. I may be in the minority but I found it a disappointment (even if it was written by an author I admire).
