Publisher's summary

I'm working off my buttons.

But I'm also giving them away.

The more I fall for Crow, the more I want him to do the things that I want. Dinners, dates, and evenings at the beach.

Everything comes at a price, and quickly the hoard of buttons I worked hard to earn are depleted.

Will this go back and forth forever? Or will someone run out of their buttons first?

What a stupid story!

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

If there was a substance to the story besides repeated pornographic descriptions.

Would you ever listen to anything by Penelope Sky again?

Absolutely not.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Narrators were fine.

Any additional comments?

I bought this book because of the 4.5 star rating. I am not sure how to trust the rating systems anymore. The description said it was a psychological suspense. I thought it was a cheap porn.

Left me hanging..

I absolutely loved this book and in the end it said "Buttons and Pain is available now".... searched everywhere to find out it's not available until MAY 16th!!! Whatttt?!?! Why the heck would you say it's available when it's not??? I am not a patient person so I'm so sad when I thought I could move on with the Pearl and Crow saga :(

Buttons in a jar

This is the second book in this series and it was as wonderful as the first. I love Button. She is strong, determined and brilliant. Crow is sexy, disturbing and just as smart. They are equals in every way. I love Penelope Sky's writing. She brings this story to life with beautiful descriptions and imagination. The sex scenes are smoking hot and the violence is well placed throughout the book. I am impatiently waiting on book three and want it now.
The voice actors, Samantha Cook and Michael Ferraiuolo are excellent in these roles. Samantha Cook is Button, she is so well suited to her. Michael Ferraiuolo has one of the sexiest and most expressive, though subtle voices in romance audiobooks today. I am anxious for more from this team or author and actors♥️🖤

Really great Read

Even though this is a dark love story, it has its moments of beauty. These are twisted up people finding their own way with affection, and while this isn't a sweet feel good type of story, there are moments of sweetness, and there are moments that make you feel good.

The author has bridged the gap with this book, the gap that usually makes you feel pretty sick after the darker story lines with something different. While this type of love isn't for everyone, it is right for the two in the book.

The performers were great. Not one complaint. Both of them read beautifully and with just the right amount of emotion. I'm buying book three now and hoping its as good as this one :)

Buttons

I love the story line and the insight to Pearl/Button and Crow. Now in this book crow does get to be a little monotonous about his NOT having feeling..

Well worth a credit!

You're Starting a War Over Pus*y!

First of all IMO this book isn't as good as Buttons and Lace. There's not a much suspense, mystery, and drama. Not that I'm complaining but the first 2.5 hours of Buttons and Hate is detailed sex. This is how it goes....Pearl is falling for Crow so she comes up with the idea to pay Crow buttons to take her to dinner and a movie or to spend the day at the beach, etc. Crow agrees because he's getting buttons back which means Pearl will stay longer. Then Pearl has painful/brutal sex with Crow to get buttons back. This back and forth is all that goes on for the first 2.5 hours.

Then the plot comes into play. Bones meets with Cain and offers 40 million to get Pearl back. When Cain discusses with Crow...Crow says no and leads Cain to believe that he is beating Pearl. In Buttons and Lace Crow and Cain kidnapped Pearl from Bones to beat and kill her in revenge for Bones killing their sister Vanessa. Crow won't let Cain touch Pearl and leads Cain to believe that he is exacting their revenge on her.

Cain breaks into Crows house and ties up the butler, Lars. But Lars was able to send an emergency signal to Crows phone before being tied up. Cain, seeing that Pearl is perfectly fine is furious and beats Pearl nearly-to-death and unrecognizable. Crow shoots Cain in the arm and takes Pearl to the hospital. Crow will not leave Pearl while she's in the hospital and when she's released he stays home and takes care of her. This is the continuation of their story...

The book ends with a to-be-continued. I'm interested to read/listen to what happens next.

Samantha Cook and Michael Ferraiuolo gave an outstanding performance.

Penelope Sky has created an intriguing series.

Worth a credit/$$ Absolutely.

I read the first 2 then upon release of second I decided to get the audible as well and started over from the beginning to feel everything anew as the narrator's engulfed me in the tale again. highly recommend.
