Publisher's summary

The top-selling, beloved indie author of Ten Tiny Breaths returns with a new romance about a young woman who loses her memory - and the man who knows that the only way to protect her is to stay away.

Left for dead in the fields of rural Oregon, a young woman defies all odds and survives - but she awakens with no idea who she is, or what happened to her. Refusing to answer to "Jane Doe" for another day, the woman renames herself "Water" for the tiny, hidden marking on her body - the only clue to her past. Taken in by old Ginny Fitzgerald, a crotchety but kind lady living on a nearby horse farm, Water slowly begins building a new life. But as she attempts to piece together the fleeting slivers of her memory, more questions emerge: Who is the next-door neighbor, quietly toiling under the hood of his Barracuda? Why won’t Ginny let him step foot on her property? And why does Water feel she recognizes him?

Twenty-four-year-old Jesse Welles doesn’t know how long it will be before Water gets her memory back. For her sake, Jesse hopes the answer is never. He knows that she’ll stay so much safer - and happier - that way. And that’s why, as hard as it is, he needs to keep his distance. Because getting too close could flood her with realities better left buried.

The trouble is, water always seems to find its way to the surface.

BOOK REVIEW: 4 STARS

Burying Water is an amazing book. This is the second KA Tucker’s work I’ve read, and I can say that she has an impressive style of writing. I like the development of the storyline, it was very creative and not at all predictable. I like the characters, they were very complex and loveable from the beginning, and not only the main characters, but also the secondary ones. Even though I don't usually like stories that go back and forth from future to past, that was the best way to write this book, because if it would have been written in a chronological order, most of the details about Alex and Jesse wouldn’t have made any sense. And of course, I loved the ending of this story. It’s funny because I thought all the the series was focused on Alex and Jesse, and that this book was going to be a cliffhanger - this is the reason why I didn't read this book last year, waiting for the entire series to be published -, but Jesse and Alex’s love story has a beautiful happy ending.

I loved Alex and Jesse together, as much as I loved Water and Jesse together. Getting to know their story from each POV was amazing. How something so beautiful came from something so ugly and after that tragic attack that nearly killed Alex, she finds what she most wanted: a family, true friendship and real love, even without knowing it. I loved the little details Jesse shared with Water to help her remember who Alex really was. And most of all I loved their connection. It was so deep that not even the lack of memories stopped Water from falling in love with Jesse all over again.

The secondary characters were all great. Ginny was a woman hard to love but once I got to know her a little better, how she helped Water and how she accepted Water’s help, I couldn’t help myself but to love her like if she was my own mother, because in one way or another, that was what she became to Water. I also loved Jesse’s family, they were all a great support for Water.

So, if I loved this book so much, why only 4 stars? - you might be asking. I love erotica, and for my liking, the sex scenes in this book were all rushed. KA Tucker was more focused on the romantic side than the sex side, and I liked that, but it would rather read “We kissed and we made love and we woke up the next day together” than a sex scene with no details. Again, this is because I love erotica, and I love reading (and listening to) steamy sex scenes.

AUDIOBOOK REVIEW: 5 STARS

Josh Goodman and Elizabeth Louise did a perfect narration for this book. I love Elizabeth performances. She knows how to fit perfectly her tone of voice and attitude to the characters, especially Water. I’m sure I cried almost at the end of the book because of her stunning read. Josh also made a great work with his narration. He transmitted Jesse’s personality and his female voices were so believable. Despite the rush sex scenes, their narrative for kisses, the caresses and the intimate scenes were great.

An amazing audiobook for an wonderful story.

Outstanding! Perfect love / mystery book!

Don't hesitate to take a try on this book, you won't regret it! The way this book takes you from the past to the present in each chapter had be mesmerized. The author knew just how to unfold the plot in a way that had me on the edge of my seat the whole time.
It was one of those books you have to finish to be satisfied. Stopping and having to finish later isn't an option.

I really, really like all of K.A. Tucker's books. I mean....really like them. I've listened to them all at least twice. I get so wrapped up in them I have to listen again to make sure I didn't miss any of the key puzzle pieces while I was daydreaming during the first listen, pretending / fantasizing that I'm one of the characters =)

I listen to a lot of different authors in this genre, but this is one of the best!
Get ready for a full eleven hours of perfection!

Worth a credit? YOU BET!

HER HEART REMEMBERED WHAT HER MIND FORGOT....LOVE

Wow, what a beautiful and breathtaking love story that's intricately woven around mystery, suspense, danger and a great cast of characters. And heading that cast are Jesse - a handsome, hardworking, caring yet misunderstood Mechanic who's in love with Alex. Alex - married too young to a Russian Mobster who abused and cheated on her and later we meet Water - who has no memories of being Alex since the attack.... including her falling in love with Jesse.

As this moving story slowly unravels the chapters switch back and forth from the past told from Jesse's POV where you share in their initial attraction and the build-up to their secret love affair. You also get to see the aftermath of the bloody, cruel and vicious attack that sadly happened to Water as she picks up the story from waking up in Hospital with amnesia. And you feel the loss, heartbreak and devastation that this has caused on both their lives as the story moves to the present then taunts you with more of their history as Jesse again takes you back. Finally, when the backstory has been thoroughly told by Jesse, it collides in actions in the present day as secrets are spilt and memories slowly seep back in.

Not only did Jesse and Water fall in love once.... but twice as each of them were drawn to the other and neither could stay away from the other. Water's determination and the friendships she made meant she had a lot of support from her close friends.... and a family she never knew she had as, even at the end, more revelations and twists kept pouring out of this unpredictable, moving, deep, romantic, emotional, captivating, intense, bitter-sweet storyline and K A Tucker must surely of reached the pinnacle of her profession with this epic book.

Worth a credit? The story itself was just awesome and then couple it with the skilful narration of Josh Goodman and Elizabeth Louise and you have the Holy Trinity that we Listeners crave..... and YES very creditworthy..... and worth a second listen too.

Nice story but....a little vanilla.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Apparently I missed something as the reviews for this book had me thinking it would be a suspenseful mystery...that it was not. I liked the book but it wasn't even predictable as it was that simple. There was nothing to try to "figure out". Nice story for a lifetime movie though.

The truth pushed to the surface like water

Without your memory, does your heart still remember who it loves? That is the question and basically the main plot of this book. It’s told through flashbacks to the past and in the present so the reader must piece together the mystery alongside the main character. I really enjoyed the romance and the journey to the truth. I connected to the characters and really cared about what would happen to them in the end. The narrators were terrific as well. Great romantic listen.

Nice Story

I got this book on sale, but I would have spent a credit on it. This was a nice story, I cried at a few spots. However, it is not the typical fairy tale romance. This is one of those books for thoughtful reflection. Everything gets wrapped up with a bow simply and quietly. You cheer for the main characters even though she is married and having an affair. I didn't think I would ever do that, but I did for Alex. I wanted her to leave her husband and be with Jesse. I wish a few things had gone differently, but it was still a very nice listen. I have never listened to a K.A. Tucker book but I will look into others now and see if anything else peaks my interest.

Excellent listen

Any additional comments?

Don't think twice, as this is K.A. best to date. Both narrators are highly tallented. You will not be dissapointed with this fast moving novel and it is well written. I think K.A. is a best kept secret.

K.A. Tucker does it again! BEAUTIFUL story!!

Would you consider the audio edition of Burying Water to be better than the print version?

Most books I read are in audio. Narrators Josh Goodman and Elizabeth Louise are fabulous. They really brought the characters to life and I enjoy having duel narration from the male and female perspective. This story is so engaging and intriguing I am positive the print version is just as enjoyable!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There are so many beautiful moments in this story, but I would have to say that moment when Ginny and Water become family just made my heart so happy!!

Any additional comments?

K.A. Tucker grabs you from the first chapter laying the ground work for this story. The story is told from both present and past from two different sides so you just get little pieces along the way. It makes it very hard to stop reading because you simply must know what happened. This story is also about true love, compassion and healing. About 3/4 of the way through the book it's best to have a good amount of tissues on hand! This isn't just a good old love story, it's also about unconditional love from family, whether they are blood or not. I loved everything about this story and I am sure I will be reading it again soon since I already miss the characters!

✫✫ 4 Stars ✫✫

I'm a big fan of K.A. Tuckers writing so I knew I'd enjoy this book when I started it. The book sucked my in from the beginning and I couldn't wait to see how it ended. I will admit the middle dragged a bit but I was never actually bored maybe just anxious. The characters were great, especially Winter! She is in a very bad situation and she doesn't ever let it bring her down. She just pushes forward and moves ahead with a positive attitude. I was a little leery about all the other people around her because it felt a little to good to be true. I love the way it ended and it left me with a happy heart.

The narration was great! Elisabeth Louise was a great Alex/Winter and Josh Goodman was great too!
