Publisher's Summary

Bred by capricious parents for his innate leopard-shifting abilities, billionaire Jake Bannaconni has spent his life in an emotional vacuum - especially after a tragic twist of fate left him to raise his infant son alone. But when his path crosses that of an enigmatic young woman, Jake’s life takes a detour he never fathomed.

There is something irresistible about Emma Reynolds - something Jake can’t live without. Hiring her as his son’s nanny will keep her close. And warm. And under watch. She’s the first human to stir something in Jake, something he’s never felt before. But Emma may not be all that she seems. And what’s raging between them is pure animal instinct - out of control, burning wild, and as hot as the lick of a flame.

Surprising

Another good read by Ms. Feehan. It was terribly disturbing to see how sick, twisted, cruel and obsessed a persons family can be. But to be raised in that type of environment and come out sane is truly a miracle. Thankfully Jake, one of the main characters had one family member who over time proved he was unlike the others and pointed Jake in the right direction. The saying is true you can't pick your family but you can pick your friends; the truth of this is shown clearly in this story. The love that unfolds and develops here is not what you will be expecting this is more of a take over.

Burning Wild was very disturbing

This book was very different from the first two and I found it disturbing. The sex was just as raw which I have no problem with but the domineering, manipulative, controlling attitude of Jake towards Emma and the subservient, submissive, surrendering attitude of Emma's was a classic abuser/abused relationship. It was hard to listen to. The first 1/2 hour of the book describes the abuse Jake suffered during his childhood which was well written and therefore also hard to listen to.

This story took place on a Texas ranch, not the lush, sensual, moody rain forest of the first two books. The leopard theme was not as integral a part of the story either.

The narrator did a pretty good job but I would say that the way he performed this made it feel rawer.

It's not a book I will listen to again as I might the others, but I don't know that I can say that I don't recommend it either. I was glad when it was over but I didn't consider not finishing it.

Not Phil Gigante

I love this book and was looking forward to the audio, then I saw Phil Gigante was the narrator, but it's not, it's Jeffrey Cummings. Little disappointed it's not Gigante but hoping I like this narrator anyway.

Love the Romance, Hate the Violence

I really enjoy the Leopard series and Christine Feehan really knows how to write a sexy romance but I am not enjoying the ultra-violent turn her books have taken as of late. Some violence is to be expected in a story like this but I find the sadistic amounts of child abuse to be off putting to say the least. As a survivor of child abuse it makes me sick to my stomach to read the detailed descriptions of pain inflicted upon defenseless children. So fair warning if, like myself, you are sensitive to child abuse.

The love story I did very much enjoy. Jake was infatuated with Emma from the second he laid eyes on her and listening to him try to find his way with her was a hoot. The narrator was a bit of a problem though. He sounded incredibly smarmy most of the time and Evan (sp?) voice was ludicrous. He sounded like he was talking around a mouth full of marbles when he did that voice. I had to rewind to try to figure out if the character was deaf or had some kind of speech impediment that I had missed in the story. I can't for the life of me figure out why he did the voice like that. I still feel like I just have missed something.

This book has it all...

The story is great and the narrator nailed it. Christine Feehan can definitely weave a great story. She pulls no punches.

Love series - not a fan of performance.

Love the series and Christine Feehan is my favorite writer! Had a hard time with the audible book because of Jeffrey Cummings female voice-over. Literally like nails on a chalkboard.

Excellent read!

I have always loved Christine Feehan's work especially the Carpathian series. As I was looking for another one of her series to delve into I came across the Burning Wild and really enjoyed it.
