Publisher's summary

Celia is in desperate need of a change - a change of scenery, a change of pace, and a complete redo of all relationships. Not knowing what else to do, she opens a map, closes her eyes, and lets fate decide her future. Then she packs her meager belongings and buys a one-way ticket to a little town on the fringes of Oregon's Deschutes National Forest called Sisters. She's wanted a family for years. Will she find one in Sisters?

What Celia doesn't plan to find is a strange Chinese woman whose meddling ways keep throwing her in the path of a handsome, but reserved, forest ranger. But no matter how kind or dependable Silas seems to be, there are some things in Celia's past that neither of them can escape, and this time, the damage might be too much to mend.

BEAUTIFUL!!

Oh wow! What a beautiful story. It has ALL the feels. Love all the characters. I first read "If We were a Movie" not realizing it was part of a series. To learn more about Pearl was way cool.

A Story of Magic

Life has been hard for Celia. An addict mother who died from an overdose and foster care. She moves from Chicago to Sisters, Oregon. Life can hold promise with new beginnings. A story of healing and growing. Great performance.

Heavy but sweet

Author dealt with heartbreaking content well, plus it was nice and clean. The narrator spoke too softly at times, sounded a bit odd

a very sweet story

It is a very light and drama free story. The characters are kind and well developed.

Courage and love

I loved this story! I've read the book and listened to it again, and enjoyed aspects of both. The narrator did a great job of capturing the sweetness of the characters, and her voice was very pleasant to listen to. I loved the characters, even if I was a little frustrated with their actions (or lack of actions) at times. The author handled a difficult subject matter very well, and was able to keep the book clean while still helping us understand the depth of feelings the characters felt. Very well done!

The story was good but...

I struggled to finish the book because the narrator was very hard to listen to, the soft wispy voice was distracting with very little emotion or character definition.
I liked the story but it might have been better with stronger characterization from the narrator.

Okay listen and yet

Sweet concept, but some of it makes it seem as if we're written 60 years ago. Being married isn't required to put a name on a birth certificate. Aunt Nancy is a nosy sweet woman, but invasive and a big of a yenta though she professes not to be. And yes small towns seemingly are gossip driven, but these were also a judgy group I wouldn't like to know. I listened to the audiobook. The narration was okay, but did no favors to the story. A little to whiny and breathy for my taste.
