Shannon Bodine is a talented graphic artist whose life revolves around her job at a prestigious New York advertising agency. Her world is turned upside down when she learns the identity of her real father: Thomas Concannon.

Respecting her late mother's wish, Shannon travels, however reluctantly, to County Clare. There, her loneliness and shame melt away in the embrace of the family she never knew existed. Good book, Reader not so appealing

The Born in-Trilogy is one of my favorites thus I also wanted it on my portable device in order to listen to it when I am on my way to work and back. But I was somehow disappointed by the reader. I think he makes Murphy Muldoon sound somewhat dimwitted which I think is a great pitty.
Furthermore I made the mistake of listening to "Fool" by Christopher Moore before where an excellent reader was hired which made the difference even more obvious.

An Irish Treat!

I loved this series. Ireland and art seem to be theme of the trilogy and each sister has their own unique talent. This is my least favorite of the three because the story was a little more predictable and while I love a mystical twist in any book it seemed out of place here. That means 4 stars versus 5 I gave the others so still not to shabby. Murphy is a wonderful hero and a man any woman would swoon over. There is great continuity to see Rogan and Maggie and Brianna and Grayson's relationships and family grow. It was fun to witness the sister's relationships grow over time and touching to see their horrible mother's heart finally open some with the addition of the grandkids. A great trilogy and addictive.

A Perfect Ending to a Great Trilogy!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes I would. I would only recommend this book as part of a great trilogy. One really needs to read the first two books in the series before reading this one. This book was a perfect ending to one of Nora Roberts most enjoyable trilogy's.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Born in Shame?

The ending. I thought I had predicted the ending and then she threw me a curve, but came together in the end for a perfect love story.

Which character – as performed by Fiacre Douglas – was your favorite?

Murphy. In the first book,

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Pretty much. If I had time I would have, but I would have to put it down at times.

Any additional comments?

The Born in . . . books - my absolute Favorites!

I absolutely loved this trilogy! I fell in love with every character. The narrator did a wonderful job of creating visions of each one in my mind. I wish they would become a movie. Thank you for being there while getting ready for my day, through chores, car rides!

Favorite book in the series

Would you consider the audio edition of Born in Shame to be better than the print version?

I never read the print version

What did you like best about this story?

I love this series and I think this book is my favorite because you get to see the progression of Maggie and Brianna. I loved that most.

Have you listened to any of Fiacre Douglas’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I don't know if this is the same narrator as the first two but if so this was alot better, but still not good.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Maggie and Shannon began to form a relationship. I loved to see the relationship between the female characters grow throughout the book.

Any additional comments?

I really liked this book but I think Nora Roberts could have done a better job developing the Murphy character. In this book she made him seem clumsy and ackward but that was the sense in the other books. I will say that all Nora Roberts books typically end the same but the good part is seeing how the character get there.

Great story

It took me ages to start on this series again, purely because I couldn't get past the narrator, but I so enjoyed the first book's story line, I just had to.

The 3 books come together beautifully - well predicted but that's why you read her!

The narrator - I just didn't like - I sort of cut him off and only listened to the story - if one can understand that.

Still worth the read!

Great Story

I enjoyed listening to this story about a woman who finds out who her real father is and must travel to meet her half sisters. I look forward to listening to more stories from this author and this narrator.

Tension and suspense

As with all the Born In series the inner and external conflicts of the characters creates a page turner. However, in Born in Shame we add a supernatural component. The story of a past love affair being lived out again in our characters is beautifully tied up in the end with both the two main characters and their parents. It gets a little confusing with the dual love stories but the ending wraps up perfectly.
