It'll rip you apart, tear you from limb to limb, change you. The most beautiful things in the world always do.
Christopher - Bone is going to kill again, I can feel it. One little bone at a time until the whole skeleton is complete. Maude seems like such a lovely girl too, perfect for what we need her for. I just hope I can get to her before Bone does. It would be a shame to waste this one.
Maude - I know I'm not normal. I see comfort in the dark and obscene, absolute beauty in unequivocal death, and murder as a fine art to be appreciated and lovingly cherished. When I meet Christopher, a weird billionaire who seems to be obsessed with a serial killer called Bone, I have to find out why. Until it's too late, I realize it might be the last thing I ever do.
This was a story about two people brought together by their obsession of murder. If you don't mind the darker side of things, I think this book could be very entertaining for a reader/listener. If you have a weaker stomach though, I'd advise against listening.
As far as the technical details, the story was well written and had great suspense. The narrator did well to capture the overall feel of the taboo scenes. She kept great pacing and differentiated the characters, which is something I always enjoy.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
I love Kassiopia’s narratives and she did a great job with this short, but, well, unusual love story. There isn’t a steep cliffhanger but it obviously hasn't ended so I suspect more to the series.
Severe warning: This is dark, as in “snuff fascination” that begins with the main character as a boy, fascinated with killing animals. That was hard for me to listen to as I work with animal rescue organizations, BUT it is reality. BONE is revealed later as Chris’ personality develops and he meets Maude. Maude is a good girl but is fascinated, almost obsessed, with death and torture so when Chris meets her, he feels he has finally found someone to share his deepest secrets with.
Performance is a total success. Story is OMG creepy and leaves me wondering what will happen to these two and do they deserve it?
Turning Up a Thumb; not raising it high, though.
I really enjoyed reading this book. I kept wondering what would happen next. I'm looking forward to reading more from this author
